View Full Details of Southlands PlaceOur Mum moved to Southlands on December 27th 2024 after spending many weeks in hospital. Initially Mum was very confused, scared and vulnerable. Over time Mum started to settle, put weight on and gained some friends who she readily speaks to. We feel very much that Mum's stay at Southlands has been very positive and her care and dignity has been one of respect and caring. The only reason we are moving here is to be closer to us as a family, the distance is very difficult to arrange visiting. We are an hour and a half away. We are very happy to have us near her again but grateful for all the support Mum has been given.
My mother stayed at Southlands as a respite resident for a couple of weeks and had a warm and friendly welcome, settling in very quickly. This has helped us to make a decision to change this to permanent residency. We have nothing but praise for the staff who are approachable and friendly but also importantly very experienced and efficient. My mother has really enjoyed the activities she has joined in with during this time. Southlands does not have the institutional feel (or smell) that so many homes seem to have and visitors are always welcome.
My father was hospitalised in 2022 with sepsis and pneumonia. On discharge, his old care home did not meet his needs and he was transferred to Southlands Place in August 2022 since that date he has thrived. The care he receives is excellent on both the domestic and the medical side. He is known to both care and management staff. He is treated with kindness and respect. His physical needs are met promptly and professionally and staff attempt to engage with him frequently each day despite his dementia and deafness.
Comfortable, and satisfied with care received.
Excellent-home from home.
The management team and all staff were warm, welcoming and at all times professional. At all times they had my dad's best interests in mind and made the move into care extremely easy. I can definitely recommend Southlands care home
Since my mum move to Southlands she has been very happy. Its lovely that we can visit at any time and are always made very welcome. Mum is looked after so well by all the lovely staff. She enjoys all the food and she has a lovely room. The entertainment is fantastic. The home is first class and well managed. A+++.
I have been to a lot of fan days and events and have found that the staff and building to be excellent. I am a friend of a resident here and it doesn't matter what time of day you visit you have a lovely welcome. The staff are all friendly and the building is very well equipped.
Enjoyed the Valentine quiz and the atmosphere in this lovely care home. The staff is very welcoming and looks after you very well.
This care home is very well organised, with very obliging and helpful management and staff. Activities and entertainment were arranged and enjoyed by my wife and me. I would recommend this care home for anyone looking for peace of mind, that your loved one is being treated with the best possible care and kindness.
We had our 3-year-old grandson and his mum come over for the day and he was very excited to go and see the 'Christmas Grotto' and take part in the Christmas craft fair. It did not disappoint! The activities girls have done a fantastic job and are to be congratulated. Since my father-in-law has been in the home, they have organised daily activities and a monthly theme. They are worth their weight in gold.
We couldn't have found a better place for my mother during the last months of her life. She didn't want to be in a nursing home but the compassion, patience, and care shown by the staff made the transition so much easier and she settled in happily after all! Even when short-staffed she was never forgotten or left out of activities (even though bedridden) and felt truly part of the 'family'.
I have always found the care staff very attentive and sensitive to my mother's needs. They are all very caring and compassionate. Keep up the good work and stay cheerful as you are.
Mum is a new resident. We never thought she'd leave the hospital, following a bad fall and 16 weeks in the acute ward, then rehab. She is frail, but resilient. She has had a warm welcome and loves her new room, and the lovely staff. Within a couple of days, she'd had a manicure and been to the hairdressers, and I heard her laugh for the first time in months, when she described going into the garden to hear ukulele players entertain! Thank you Southlands!
Mum went to the care home after a spell in hospital. During her stay at the home, she was shown nothing but kindness, support and compassion by the staff, and without their help, she would not have made such a remarkable recovery. We, as a family, can not thank the manager and her team enough for the part they all played in Mum's health improving. The activities kept Mum entertained throughout her stay, and Mum enjoyed her trips to the inclusive hairdresser. If there was a criticism, the food could be hit and miss at times.
I was very pleased to entrust the care of my 85-year-old wife to Southlands Place. I found the staff very caring and nothing was too much trouble for them if I asked for anything. Many of the nurses went above and beyond their normal duties to ensure that my wife felt settled. I know that she was not always the easiest resident/patient. I cannot comment on the food and activities and although my wife was funded I would recommend this home to anyone who is looking for an above-the-range of care.
My mother died of aspiration pneumonia and sepsis despite my repeated requests that she see a doctor. I was told there is no access to a doctor, only a paramedic. She was not given the correct nursing care she needed. I will never forgive myself for letting her be placed here.
The home is a friendly, welcoming place to be and my partner has settled in surprisingly well in a short time. Management and staff have got to know him and his likes and dislikes quickly and I have found it easy to talk to staff about any concerns I've had in this initial period. I love the fact one can visit at any time. The food is very good and my partner's well-being has improved since he moved in.
Staff are caring, and attentive. Residents are addressed by name and assisted as necessary. Everyone contributes to the family led from the top. Respect for each person is demonstrated. Gentleness and consideration are given. Dietary and other needs are met. A home from home. Food set out to temp any palate. Variety and flavour are all served by courteous staff.
Amazing, kind staff, all of them. Meals are excellent.
