Thank you for making this last season of my mum's life so comfortable. I watched the staff care for her with tender gentleness as if she was your own relative. You made her feel safe and secure and even though she wasn't able to articulate that herself, just to see her smile at you said it all and in so doing you were a huge support to me as well. From the nursing staff to carers, activity staff, chefs, cleaner and admin... you have all bee wonderful.
My lovely dad was a resident in Pentlands for 2 and a half years, this was a very hard decision as anyone would know when having to make this on behalf of a loved one so it's very important to get it right, which we did. In this time Dad got the best care I believe with the carers picking up straight away if something wasn't right, the nursing staff, matron, clinical lead would act on it with nothing being too much trouble. I used to try and go in every day often at different times. Whether it would be the cleaning staff, laundry, activity they all became so important in Dad's care as they all played a part in taking time to chat to Dad. I was able to take my dog in and go at any time day or night and to me they all became a huge support knowing I could leave Dad there and he had the best of care. As my dear dad declined it was even more noticeable that nothing was too much trouble even the kitchen staff trying anything to try and get Dad to eat, I can't thank them all enough.
As a family, we wanted to share our sincere thanks to all the staff who work so hard to do the very best for everyone in their care and always with a smile on their face. We can honestly say that choosing a home for a loved one is a hard decision but we knew we had made the right decision when we chose Pentlands and we know how much our loved one was aware he was being well cared for at all times. He enjoyed his food and the chefs would always be happy to cook alternative choices if he wanted something not on the menu. Plenty of varied activities you can join in or just watch if you would prefer. Nice garden to sit in on a sunny day. Family always made very welcome and the staff approachable at all times. Have no reservations in recommending Pentlands.
Pentlands was home to Papa for over three years and it really felt like his home. All the staff gave unwavering care, support, kindness and affection throughout Papa's time with them. Not only did the staff provide the practical care but also made time to get to know Papa, often chatting with him and providing friendship; this included not only the care team but the housekeeping and kitchen team too. I would visit most days once or twice a day and only ever observed the highest level of care, attention and diligence. I got to know many of the team and their care and support were not limited to the residents but to their families too. Pentlands provided lots of activities and entertainment for the residents to engage them and family and friends were always made extremely welcome to join in making the home inclusive. The home is relatively small with around 30 residents maximum and I believe that this is in part what makes Pentlands feel homely; that and all the wonderful staff in it.
Pentlands were exceptional in helping care for our mother. Mum lived there for four years, including in her final months, and we could not have asked for more support and kindness to be shown to Mum. We will always be grateful to them. They welcomed Mum and all her family and the wonderful staff there went out of their way to include us in all care and activities. When Mum was dying it was a great comfort to know that before we arrived each day, we knew that one of the nurses or carers would already be sitting with her, holding her hand and talking to her. It might be a carer or a nurse or the manager herself - they were all there for her. It meant the world to us. We would recommend Pentlands to anyone seeking support for their loved ones.
Pentlands has been my mother's home for an unexpected seven years. Matron and all members of her staff treated my mother with the utmost care and kindness. Pentlands is warm and welcoming, the rooms are modern with TVs, armchairs and many opening out onto the garden. Meals are exceptional, we particularly loved the cakes they bake in the afternoons - birthdays are always celebrated. Activities in the lounge are well organised with a regular variety of visiting entertainment. Cleanliness is a high priority throughout. My mother, who was unable to walk or move around by herself, had always loved bubble baths, so the staff went out of their way to help and assist her making sure she could still enjoy this small pleasure. I would definitely have no hesitation in recommending Pentlands to anyone and have already done so.
I would like to thank the staff at Pentlands Nursing Home for their exemplary care of my stepmother over the last 9 months. She was admitted for end-of-life care, and received just that. Individually, the staff showed a great deal of caring as well as care throughout her stay. What her last few days and hours showed up most clearly was the skill of the nursing staff in things like managing pain control - clearly nursing homes have learned a lot from the hospice movement, and I understand they work closely with local hospice staff; and also how well they work as a team - and in that I include everyone - activities organisers, carers, chefs, domestic workers, laundry staff, nurses, office staff. My partner and I were also recipients of their kindness. A model of good practice. Thank you.
Pentlands recently cared for my very close friend through her end-stage of cancer. The kindness and dignity they consistently showed her were comforting and heartwarming. She was so relieved to be with highly professional and sensitive carers, who took her lead throughout. It is a very homely environment and any food preferences were catered for throughout the day. Nothing was too much trouble for them. There were lots on offer to occupy residents if they wanted and there was also someone to just sit and chat to. Family and friends were always welcome anytime, which was very inviting. I couldn't have hoped for a better home from home. Many of the staff have been there for a very long time and I think that speaks volumes. I can't thank them enough and would highly recommend this home.
Pentlands have been excellent in providing all levels of care to my mum. The care home manager is an excellent leader and all the staff are helpful, caring and supportive. The food was excellent - mum would comment frequently on how good it was and it really helped her overall wellbeing to be given proper home cooked food at all times. All staff were very welcoming to visitors and included us in activities. Also very helpful at advising how to take mum out and about locally. They found her the right chair that she was comfortable in. The nursing care was always good - they seemed to know what would be best for mum at all times and they were good at explaining what was happening and keeping in touch at all times. Spotlessly clean at all times. A great home
Dad is very well looked after at Pentlands. He is very happy living here. He receives the best care possible and we, as family, are always made to feel very welcome. The home feels just like a home and not an institution. We thank all the staff that look after our dad and are confident that his best wishes are always considered.
My wife was a resident at Pentlands from May 2021 until January 2022. I cannot speak too highly of this nursing home and all of its staff from the management through to the care staff, the chef and the catering staff. All of the carers are kind and thoughtful and manage to maintain a sense of humour, caring out such gentle and genuine care. The opening is excellent and I frequently commented that I would like to enjoy the meals that they provided.
I recommended this home for my sick brother as my mother-in-law had lived there before she passed away. Pentlands are amazing. The food is wonderful and the rooms are lovely. My brother lived in Pentlands for 14 months but sadly passed away in April 2021. The staff are all lovely and are very helpful. The manager is a lovely lady. Best home in Worthing. Highly recommend.
Great place. Very caring, good food and very clean. My wife has been there since January and is very well looked after. Visiting is no problem at all. Staff are very caring, nothing is a problem. Very well recommended.
My husband received end of life care at Pentlands. During the ten weeks he was there, not only was he compassionately cared for, but we, his family, were always welcomed and supported. The home was always clean, no unpleasant smells and the staff cheerful and competent. The catering staff went the extra mile to accommodate his dietary needs. A sad experience was made easier by the kindness and cheerfulness of all concerned.
Mum was admitted to Pentlands in June 2109 as she and the family were no longer able to care for her at home. Her debilitating illness meant she was needing full time nursing care as she had become very frail and emaciated and unable to maintain her independence. Pentlands' staff are amazing. Mum is now dying and the end of life care is, as you would hope for, aiming to achieve a peaceful and painfree time for her. Because of her underlying conditions, we can only express gratitude and heartfelt thanks to all her carers. She clearly has received excellent personal care and her skin integrity, despite the disease process, is very good. The home is run in a very open and caring way and it does not matter what time you visit, the staff are welcoming and make time for you. We are a very large family and this must be quite daunting at times for the staff but never have we been made to feel in the way. Thank you to everyone from the family.
My first time in a nursing home I found the staff friendly and helpful. Would recommend Pentlands to anyone who required excellent nursing. Staff would always go that extra to ensure you are well cared for. Management, matron, senior carers, carers, domestics and laundry staff work very hard and behind the kitchen doors staff ensure food is excellent. Well done and thank you all for a wonderful stay. It is more like a friendly hotel
My father recently moved to Pentlands from a residential home in the South Coast group and I cannot speak highly enough of the care he has received at both. The staff at Pentlands have made every effort to make his last days as comfortable as possible and he is treated with respect, dignity and as an individual. Thank you so very much.
The care given to our mother in the 6 weeks she was in the home was superb. Pentlands staff were very kind and extremely supportive of the whole family through this very difficult and emotional time. Thank you!
My friend was cared for very lovingly. Nothing was too much trouble - also I was made to feel welcome when I visited her. It seemed to be a homely home.
I was devastated when I realised that due to my own health deteriorating I could no longer care for my son at home but I have found that Pentlands is like a "home from home". The rooms are beautifully decorated and furnished and kept at the right temperature. The food is plentiful and varied- all home cooked including the delicious cakes with afternoon tea. The carers are efficient and cheerful and the nurses and management staff are dedicated and "on the ball". Medical problems are dealt with quickly as are other issues that may arise. All in all. There is a relaxed and happy atmosphere in the home.
