View Full Details of Hawkhill House Nursing HomeMy dad was in for respite whilst my mum was in hospital. He has early stage dementia and is at risk of falling. He was well cared for and some of the staff went over and above to look after him. The food and activities were all good. There was a lot of upgrading of the outside area whilst Dad was there.
My mum moved into Hawkhill in April after not being able to cope with looking after herself in her own house. As she has memory issues, this wasn't easy for her to agree to moving out of her home of 45 years, however, the lovely caring staff, tasty meals, great activities and entertainment soon had her settled in no time. She commented on everyone being "so very nice and helpful" and I can very much agree with that comment. Anytime I've been visiting I've had first-hand experience of just how helpful everyone is - this covers all staff and not just nurses and carers. With the death of my dad in September this year, everyone gave great care and compassion towards our family who all came together to console my mum and help her through such a big event in her life. They had just celebrated 66 years of marriage together in July where Hawkhill had provided a cake and party facility for them both on the day. A devastating blow which Mum is now slowly coming to terms with thanks to all staff.
The care my aunt received whilst living at Hawkhill House Nursing Home was excellent. All staff were supportive and went out of their way to offer her assistance and to ensure her needs were met. The care home was kept immaculate. My aunt was happy and relaxed and felt at home in Hawkhill.
Mum moved into Hawkhill just before her 100th birthday. The kind and caring staff helped her settle quickly and smoothly. They constantly checked with me and her what she did/didn't like - including what she wanted to do on her birthday. They then set up her birthday party exactly as she wished - right down to the type of cake. We had a wonderful memorable day. Thank you all so much!
My dad moved to Hawkhill in March this year. His mobility was his main issue and staying at home was no longer viable. My first visit to the home was very pleasing indeed. There is a happy atmosphere in Hawkhill which is obvious as soon as you enter. The staff are all very friendly, helpful and cheerful. My dad unfortunately did not wish to participate in any of the many activities available, preferring to stay in his room. Staff looked after him very well. There was always someone popping in to see that he was okay day or night. He had his meals served in his room. He often commented on how varied and how good the food was. Sadly, my father passed away at the end of July, but in his last days, the nurses, carers and domestic staff bent over backwards ensuring that he was as comfortable as possible and in keeping me informed on how he was. I can only thank everyone at Hawkhill for helping my dad. It was comforting to know that he was being well looked after during his stay.
My mum moved into Hawkhill House earlier this year. We were very anxious as all indications were that my mum would not be happy. However, despite my mum's health issues, she is clearly living her best life at Hawkhill. Mum's quality of life is immeasurably improved even though she may not realise it. All staff are incredibly caring and we can see often how they deal sensitively with all the issues that can arise within the home. The online feedback tools are very useful to get real-time feedback on my mum's day-to-day activities and medical history. Every day there are activities for Mum to take part in - many of which will be new to Mum but the coordinators do a great job of encouraging and facilitating participation. The food is excellent and consequently Mum's diet has improved significantly. Every single member of staff we have encountered are gentle but professional, they clearly know my mum and it provides great comfort to us to know Mum is being well looked after.
Exceptional loving care and attention given to our dad/grandad/great-grandad during his 3-month stay there. We, as a family, cannot praise the home and staff highly enough. Without exception, all the staff were kind and caring and provided a beautiful safe home for our loved one. Thank you.
My sister settled into Hawkhill very easily. This is due to the level of care and compassion shown to her. As a visitor, I find the staff welcoming, happy and cheerful at their work. All areas of the home are very clean as are the residents we meet, taking into account all their special requirements.
My dad moved into the home in February, and we were delighted that he has settled in really quickly. My dad was so independent living on his own. All members of staff have been excellent at making him feel at home.
I have been very happy with the excellent care provided at Hawkhill. I have never passed a member of staff who is not smiling. The staff are always helpful whenever I have a question and I am always made to feel welcome. My client’s health has improved hugely as a result of the consistent care she has received. Thank you
Accommodation excellent. Staff are pleasant and helpful, I feel very comfortable here and have no complaints. I feel very much at home here and can't complain about anything.
We were impressed after our initial tour of Hawkhill House for my mum who has dementia and didn't feel that we needed to view anywhere else. Hawkhill House is very homely, the rooms are a good size and all with ensuite and tv's. It has an open-door policy so you can visit at any time, staff allow access and is therefore very secure. There are daily activities displayed on their wall which we like to look at. The staff are caring and treat residents with dignity. Mum has settled in and appears relaxed and happy there. Relatives are encouraged to make suggestions and feel involved. Excellent overall.
Friendly and welcoming staff and manager. The staff are very knowledgeable. The residents have a wonderful mixture of activities and things to occupy their time.
When I felt I could no longer care properly for my wife at home, I was very apprehensive about her moving into a nursing home. From the moment I entered Hawkhill House, I was impressed by the general atmosphere and friendliness of the staff I met. Sadly, my wife was only in the home for four days and was unable to take part in activities other than watching the lovely pantomime put on by the staff. Throughout that time, everyone was extremely kind and caring and I knew she was being very well looked after. I was impressed by the professionalism of the staff and the very obvious positive team spirit. It was clear that everyone enjoyed their work in Hawkhill and this good feeling is transmitted to visitors and residents. The manager should be very proud of the team she has built up. Thank you all very much for helping me and our family through such a difficult period in our lives.
My father is 96 and was admitted to Hawkhill House, a couple of weeks ago. Since that day, I have felt a sense of relief that my father is being so well cared for. He says the food is ‘first class’ and the nurses and staff are kind and caring. My experience with the Manager and her staff is that they are exceptional, kind, knowledgeable, professional and friendly. Every time I go to visit my father, they tell me where and how he is in the home – before I even ask. I first rang Hawkhill 2 weeks ago to get help for my father (I live in New Zealand and had just arrived). The Manager and a senior Nurse came and assessed him within 3 hours, and with both his and my agreement, moved him into the care home the same day. Since then, his appetite, general demeanour, mobility and conversation have all improved beyond expectation. I can only thank them all for their continued kindness, calm professionalism and genuinely caring attitude, which prevails throughout Hawkhill House.
I would like to thank everyone for the service and care every time we came in he was cheery and he said he liked the activities and concepts, food and company.
When I first came to visit my aunt, I was unhappy with what I saw and smelled. After having the opportunity to attend a family meeting, one nurse was very kind to answer all of my concerns, share the care plan and address my concerns. It's very difficult to live so far away and depend on others to care for her. I am going back to my home secure in the knowledge she is being well looked after.
I was invited to join my mother in preparing and then enjoying the meal which was cooked in situ. It was a great opportunity to bond with my mother in a scenario just like we used to do when she lived independently. It was also a lovely opportunity to engage with the 2 nurses who were in charge in a non-professional capacity and have a general chat on a range of issues. I must praise the range of activities on offer at Hawkhill House. My mother loves to participate in them. The meal, too, was delicious.
My mother has been here for 4 years - the reason we chose Hawkhill was because of its homely feel, unlike other homes in the area. Overall she has had a good experience, treated and cared for well! Staff do a good job and act upon queries efficiently.
The staff at Hawkhill House Nursing Home are very kind and caring towards my aunt and the other residents. She is treated with dignity, there is always something going on for the residents to take part in for example, trips to the park and a 'come dine with me' experience. The rooms are always clean and tidy and the food is excellent. Keep u the good work!
