View Full Details of AldersmeadMy family member has really settled well in this lovely caring care home. The ladies organise some great activities, there were ducklings just hatched yesterday! The residents love it! The chef and his catering team produce excellent food, presented beautifully. I find this to be a very person centered home and all residents are treated individually. Management are great. It's a five star review from me!
My grandfather was placed in this care home for 2 weeks of respite. Those two weeks were outstanding. The care he received and how well he was looked after, was just amazing. The staff at Aldersmead are all fabulous. The receptionists are always so bubbly, always make time for a chat, and make you feel so welcome. The carers are always so busy but they always put the residents first and they work so hard. The nurses always go above and beyond and nothing is of any trouble to any of these members of staff. I honestly recommend Aldersmead nursing home to anyone. This home is filled with love and care and that is what we want for our loved ones.
The staff at this home are extraordinarily caring. From the moment you enter the premises, you are made to feel welcome. The main lounge, where the residents spend much of their day, is bright and warm and the staff do their utmost to make the residents feel welcome and cared for. For most of the week, an activity is going on in the morning, e.g., bingo or games that can be enjoyed. The food is excellent and varied. The kitchen staff takes great pride in the refreshments they provide. The staff are also very accommodating to visitors. It's probably best to go after 10:30 am to give the staff time to get everybody out of bed and settled. For those who can't walk, they have excellent equipment that enables staff to get residents back and forth to the bathroom or their rooms. Overall, I know Mum is being well looked after. Great job, everyone.
My husband has been a resident at Aldersmead for nearly 2 years now. The care and support have been outstanding, the management team, receptionists, nursing staff, care staff, activities ladies, kitchen staff cleaners, and laundry staff are all fantastic and nothing is too much trouble. My husband is treated with dignity and kindness. I would recommend Aldersmead to anyone looking for a care home for a loved one.
Excellent care. All the staff are lovely. My mother is very happy and well looked after A special mention to two staff members in particular who go above and beyond what's expected. The activities are well-planned and my mother looks forward to them. The kitchen staff are wonderful and look after Mummy's food needs and always make her feel special. And last but not least the two lovely receptionists who are happy and welcoming.
As a family, we are so grateful to the staff at Aldersmead for the care shown to my mum in her last few weeks. She passed away at Christmas which was a very difficult time, but we were able to be with her at any time of the day or night and the staff were on hand to help and guide us. She was bed-bound and had Alzheimer's. After 70 years of marriage, my Dad found it hard to accept that she was going to have to go into a home and did not want it to happen. However, once he saw the room she had and the caring people around her, his view changed and he realised that this was the best place for her. The staff including the Manager, Nurses, kitchen staff and all who work there were very kind and caring not just to Mum but also to Dad and myself and our immediate family. Thank you for taking her into your care and helping her to a peaceful end.
Thank you to all the staff and team managers for the great service to our uncle, who sadly passed away on 9th October (after spending four months with them); he was staying at Aldersmead for end-of-life care, and they did an amazing job catering to all his needs, especially his dietary which can be very testing, but everyone did a great job in taking care and supporting him in his needs. We can recommend this care home as everyone was like family, and we cannot thank them enough for all they have done. A big thank you.
Aldersmead is a wonderful home, I can’t fault the care shown for my mother, the staff are caring and helpful and understand my mum's needs. Also, my father was cared for in the home to, as he requested to be with my mother when he was very ill with a brain tumour, he decided he wanted his end of life in the home beside my mum. Keeping with his wishes he stayed in the home, the nurses and manager were in contact with the hospital if they needed advice for his end of life care. But to be honest they were amazing with their own experience and knowledge so I know and saw that he was very well looked after. The staff are all friendly and can’t do enough for you and care of your loved ones. The food is great and the kitchen staff are wonderful too. The home is and homely and I would recommend the home to anyone for their loved ones to be cared for here. I will also add that the manager is such a caring lady who cares very much for the well-being of all the residents and her staff.
We visited our elderly friend most recently on her 85th birthday as her regular visitors were away on holiday. As there was a postal strike we called in with a birthday gift in case no birthday cards had arrived. Nobody was expecting us and we could not have been made more welcome by every member of staff on duty. We were invited in as soon as we could provide a negative covid test and were absolutely delighted with everything!
I could not wish for a nicer, kinder set of people to be caring for my nan. The home itself is always lovely and clean and fresh. My nan is at the end of her life and the staff at Aldersmead are kind, patient and respectful, always welcoming visitors and keeping us informed. I am very happy that my nan is receiving the best possible care.
Excellent care home. Staff very helpful to my mother and attend to her care needs. Very friendly and approachable. I have already recommended the care home to my friend for her father, who needs 24/7 care.
A lovely home I would be pleased to recommend very highly. The staff, from top to bottom, are friendly, efficient and caring. They keep me informed on all aspects of Mum's care and are always willing to answer any queries I may have. Mum is always spotlessly clean and well-groomed. I am happily confident that on the days I cannot visits, she is well looked after, which gives me great peace of mind.
My father ended up here after a stroke. Unfortunately, it was never the right place for him. He didn't have physio or any encouragement to get his life back. He wasn't encouraged to feed himself. Apparently, it takes too long. He wasn't toileted but had to go in his pad! He was left in bed every day. He didn't have internet even. It specifically says they have it. They didn't have the equipment for him to have a shower or bath due to his disabilities. The covid policies were in place long after the government had lifted them. We were told it's a private home so they can do what they want. He's now in a home where he gets up most days, he's had a shower, and is respected. My father has brain damage that was never understood at Aldersmead. He's now thankfully out of there and happy. Most of the staff are great but poor leadership and lack of training on how to deal with a stroke victim.
My nan had to go into a care home last July in the middle of the pandemic when you couldn’t go into view the homes etc. Aldersmead welcomed her in with open arms. She was not the easiest of residents for them at times, but they managed that by getting support in from health professionals etc. They moved her rooms so she was closer to the nurses' station when they realised she would become fearful at night and hated being on her own so that she could always see people. The care staff were all fantastic, caring and empathetic knew her so well in such a short space of time. The manager was fantastic always available to speak to or would call me back, nothing was too much effort. She always looked so clean and smart and having various dietary issues they went out of their way to ensure she had a variety of foods that agreed with her. Nothing was too much effort. I would highly recommend this care home to anyone. The care is second to none.
Very good. Staff very caring.
My father went to Aldersmead on discharge from the hospital with a serious heart condition that could no longer be treated. The staff at Aldersmead were caring and sensitive to his needs. They made every effort to ensure he was safe and comfortable. They would always spend time explaining to me how he was and answering any questions I had. When he deteriorated, and it was clear that he did not have much longer to live; they gave me, my sister and his partner the opportunity to spend time with him. Their caring, sensitive and professional attitude made a very difficult time at the end of my Dad's life easier to cope with. He was only with them for 12-days before he died, but I am thankful that he was with caring, loving people.
Mum was diagnosed with a terminal illness, and her stay was expected to be short term. Seven months on, she's still going strong. Aldersmead has given her a new lease of life at 94! She is very happy there, and the staff are very good to her. She said to us she wishes she could have gone there earlier. Well done Aldersmead staff! Keep up the good work and many thanks for looking after her!
It is a great responsibility choosing the right nursing home for loved ones. My family and I were lucky to have been able to choose Aldersmead just before lockdown. In a very short time both my bed-ridden mother, and the family, established a good rapport with the happy and compassionate staff. This helped us all get through the long, frustrating months of not being able to visit. We were able to Skype call my mother regularly and this helped to reassure all of us. The very professional, individually tailored and warm-hearted care and attention my mother received from the staff at Aldersmead was fantastic. The owner and the manager are very efficient and forward thinking as well as being sensitive to the needs of both residents and their families. My family greatly appreciate all the efforts that were made by the attentive matron, the nurses, the carers and the auxiliary helpers whose friendly and openhearted attitude helped by mother adapt and be comfortable up until her sad passing.
My mother first came to Aldersmead early February this year. She is 91 and is suffering from dementia, and she came to Aldersmead from a hospital where she was very sick with various age-related illnesses. We thought that she would not be with us very long, however, Aldersmead was her salvation. My mother is now stable, and although bed-ridden, is very happy thanks to the wonderful care and lovely surroundings of the home, which is one of the highest. The staff are first class in every department; they are excellent. Thank you Aldersmead.
I am pleased that I moved my mother to Aldersmead as she was becoming unable to care for herself due to ill health. It is good to know that she is somewhere safe and being cared for.
