View Full Details of Birtley House Nursing HomeMy wife was at Birtley House for 7 weeks of respite care at the start of 2025. We enjoyed dealing with this family-owned business and found the staff to be professional and welcoming. My wife benefitted from joining in with the activities and everything that Birtley House had to offer during her stay. She responded very well to the expert care provided and enjoyed the beautiful house and grounds during her time at Birtley House.
My 86 year old mum recently stayed at Birtley house for a couple of weeks for some rest and recovery, following a spell in hospital. The staff were so kind and caring towards her including the physio and they helped her to achieve her goals to care for herself independently again, now she is home. Her room was warm and comfortable with gorgeous views over the gardens and the food was amazing, which helped her to get her strength back. All of the staff were very welcoming and helpful to our family and nothing was too much trouble. I would highly recommend for respite care.
Birtley House Nursing Home provided a caring, compassionate and considerate service to not only my dad, as a resident, but to the family too. It was reassuring knowing my dad was being so well looked after at Birtley and was in very good care. The staff made my dad feel comfortable and nothing was too much trouble. They always treated him with dignity and respect. Birtley House always felt homely, clean, safe and welcoming. The setting in the Surrey Hills is just wonderful, peaceful and calm which is also mirrored inside. Overall, our experience at Birtley was really positive with great management and staff. Would certainly recommend Birtley House Nursing Home and will miss everyone.
I had a replacement hip operation and I wanted to convalesce in a caring and supportive environment. My other consideration was to receive excellent physio to start me on my journey to rehabilitation. Birtley House fulfilled all I had hoped for. It really is quite excellent. The staff are attentive and caring. The home is surrounded by beautiful gardens. The level of cleanliness is excellent. I cannot recommend it too highly.
Very caring staff and lovely food. Had a wonderful week after being in hospital, was thoroughly spoilt and cared for. Would stay here again.
My father spent over 8 amazing and wonderful years in this magical family-run nursing home. It is as good as any five-star luxury country hotel. All the staff from reception, cleaning, catering, activities, care and nursing to management and directors were absolutely wonderful. The level of service given by everybody could not be better. The kindness, compassion, care, dignity and respect given is unsurpassed. I cannot think of a better place for my father to have been and will be eternally grateful for everything the home has done for him. It truly was his home away from home. The service provided could not have been better. The setting and grounds are truly magnificent, especially the views and lake. Thank you so much Birtley for loving Dad like he was a part of your family, I know in my heart he will miss you all very much, but will be smiling down on you now thanking you all very much for looking after him whilst in your care. Thank you all so very much from all our family.
All aspects are good except the heating is too hot.
Birtley House is an experience that is hard to sum up. I have been in other places that claim care and respect etc but sadly seldom live up to it. Birtley House walks its talk in every aspect. The advantage in my mind, is that it is a family and not a company. This family does genuinely care. The staff are exemplary. They are from all corners of the earth and demonstrate a way of working together that is a joy to watch and be part of. I have never felt so loved and cared for. If I had a house to sell, I would gladly spend the rest of my life in this beautiful place. The grounds are an added bonus.
I booked to stay at Birtley House for one week's convalescence after an operation. My recovery took longer than expected but there was no problem in extending my stay for a further six days. I was grateful for such flexibility. When I arrived I felt awful but my spirits were lifted by the bunch of flowers from the garden, on my windowsill. This exemplified the care and attention to detail from all the staff. Everyone was so kind.
My 86-year-old mother stayed at Birtley House Nursing Home for a few weeks while recovering from an emergency operation and had a wonderful experience. She was delighted by the beautiful grounds, warm atmosphere and the impressive house itself. She had a very comfortable room and all her needs taken care of, as well as opportunities to engage in interesting activities like gardening club, cream teas and quizzes. Moreover, she found the staff to be extremely kind and attentive. I would highly recommend Birtley to anyone looking for similar care.
I was very well looked after needing my respite care. Everything was very well organised and the staff were unfailingly helpful. I would recommend Birtley House to anyone.
I have now stayed at Birtley House on two occasions following hospital stays. On both occasions, I have been very well looked after. The staff have been extremely professional and very friendly catering to all my needs and concerns. I would not hesitate to stay there again if the situation arises, providing, of course, that they had space and were not full, they would always be my first choice.
A really friendly, family owned and well-run care home. The overwhelming feeling when you are there, is a genuine sense of warmth and affection.
My mother has been at Birtley for seven years. During that time, she has received care of the highest standard from staff, who she is very fond of, as she says every time I see her. Her room looks south and west and has views that even surpass the one she saw for 50 years in her own home.
I had an excellent respite stay at Birtley House after an operation in the hospital, and I was most impressed by the professionalism of the staff and the way even the most difficult patients were treated. All needs were met with a smile, and the care staff were only too pleased to enter into conversations to make sure all was well. Well done to everyone; even the management knew every client.
It would be difficult to convey how glad and grateful I am to have my home in Birtley House. Their core values - kindness, integrity, positivity and adaptability are lived in admirable ways. In lovely surroundings and friendliness all round. I have found happiness and peace of mind.
I was on three-week respite care and found everything to the highest level, the food was particularly good and the attention excellent. The three weeks were just what I needed to recover from major surgery.
The Birtley House Nursing Home staff have shown the utmost level of care and flexibility in supporting the transition of my father to residence. All staff members have been absolutely wonderful and have taken care of everything, above and beyond our expectations. The room is lovely, the food excellent and Dad is very happy there.
