View Full Details of Huntington HouseI wish to comment on the excellence of care taken by all at the home for my mother, who has been a resident at Huntington for more than five years. I initially had reservations about the quality of care it would be possible for her to receive once it became necessary for her to move from her own home, but Huntington have consistently exceeded any hopes I could have formulated. The staff have been friendly, welcoming and endlessly supportive of our mother throughout that time, showing endless patience with her. In particular, I am exceedingly grateful for the care and persistence taken in recently resolving a difficult problem involving the local authority. The owner of the care home could not have done more, and I will be forever grateful to the management for their kindness, their generosity, and their obvious concern above all for the welfare of our mother. As others have noted, Huntington House truly is an exceptionally well run care home.
My mother moved into Huntington House in 2019 after the death of my father when she found she was unable to cope with daily life any more. Having thought her days were nearly over, within just a few weeks there was a noticeable change in her as she became stronger in both body and mind, which I put down to the exceptional care she received and continues to. She trusts the long-term staff who work there as do I. The homely environment is warm and comfortable, she enjoys her meals (where her dietary intolerances are well catered for) in the lovely dining room, her complex medical needs are looked after by competent, experienced nurses and the staff are genuinely kind and caring. It is a huge comfort to know that she is safe, happy and so well looked after and I really could not ask for anything more. I would add that the way Huntington responded to the pandemic was remarkable and although I missed my mother terribly during this time, I felt that she was in the best place possible place.
My mother went into Huntington House for one month for respite care while I was abroad. The feedback from relatives who visited her, and from our own Facetime calls, was always extremely positive. The staff were unfailingly helpful and warm and seemed to have developed a very good relationship with my mother. This clearly helped her to settle in very quickly and ensured that her stay was a very happy one. We would be delighted to use Huntington House again at some point.
Huntington House was a breath of fresh air from the moment the door was opened. All of the staff, whatever the role were caring, friendly, professional and nothing was too much trouble. My sister was very well cared for, always clean, tidy with lots of company when she wanted it. Her pain very well controlled, the staff were wonderful, showing real affection for her and us, notifying us of any concerns or changes. We as a family were delighted that her last few months were at Huntington House.
My brother arrived here for his end of life care after several weeks in a hospice. The hospice was excellent but this was a much more suitable and homely place for the time he had left. The nursing care he needed was more than many nursing homes can provide, but the Huntington House team took it all in their stride. His care was skillful and tender - more like 'a home with nursing' than a conventional nursing home. He had a lovely large room with an outlook over glorious woodland in a quiet area of the building. Huntington is a converted older house, but the conversion has been done with modern care standards in mind - proper bathrooms, room for the gradually increasing equipment needs, wide doors and corridors etc. The staff do not wear uniforms or name badges, which encourages getting to know their names and a family feel. I certainly felt they knew me (and, more importantly, my brother) quickly. The team responded rapidly to his changing needs, which was very reassuring.
My mother-in-law has been at Huntington for about 2 years. She is well cared for and seems happy. She has a lovely room looking out onto the garden and field beyond. I feel happy that she is safe and that the provision of 24-hour cover is in place. The staff are very caring and kind and there is a real family atmosphere which makes you feel confident that your family member is treated with dignity.
Relatively early days for me but I feel we made the right choice (out of 3) close to home. Very professionally managed and all the staff are excellent, as is the food! Tempted to say faultless, on reflection, yes.
My mother has been living at Huntington House since 2016 and we are extremely happy with the care she receives. The staff are warm and caring and also professional. We definitely feel she is in safe hands.
Huntington House is exceptional; a family-owned and managed concern, and their ethos of 'Let our family look after yours' really does ring true. From the moment you walk in the door, you can see and feel the genuine caring and friendliness of all the staff. They are all very friendly, and wonderfully attentive and nothing is too much trouble. Set on beautiful grounds, Huntington House is a very welcoming place. There are always plenty of activities available each day to those who want to take part. Once staff had worked out Mum's interest they have now encouraged her to participate in many activities which were not previously available to her and as a result, she has made new friends and is able to get outside. Although she has only been there a few months, I would not hesitate to recommend it.
My friend has been a resident at Huntingdon House for about 12/18 months. She is cared for well by all the staff. Her room is bright and cheerful with views across the grounds. She loves the menu choices and is grateful to the housekeeping and catering staff for the efforts they make to present the food so well and cater for her likes. Her birthday was celebrated with other residents in the lounge decorated with balloons and a delicious cake was enjoyed. When my friend has required medical attention this is provided by the excellent GP Surgery with prompt transfers to the local hospital accompanied by staff from Huntington House. Throughout a protracted stay in hospital, the Huntingdon House team remained in contact with us and with my friend. We could not ask for better care for our dear friend who is treated as an individual but also feels very much a part of the Huntingdon family.
My mother has been well cared for almost five years at Huntingdon House. I looked at probably 5 or 6 before selecting Huntington House, which being family owned immediately felt different to the portfolio-owned care homes.
I would highly recommend Huntington House. As I'm sure with all families it's with a heavy heart the decision to have to put a family member into a home! We had reached a point where home care was no longer possible, the help and support the family got has been continued throughout. Mum has had the most loving support and care, medically they are very quick to respond and there is always a friendly staff member on hand for a chat with Mum. She has improved and already settled and has a much happier outlook, I think this is down to the exceptional care and constant smiles she receives 24/7. Keep up the good work, thank you.
Huntington House has provided wonderful care for both my parents and continues to do so for my Mother. Always incredibly friendly and professional, it is somewhere she happily calls 'home'. The warmth and kindness of everyone there is fantastic. Thank you!
We are absolutely delighted with the care that our mother is receiving. The staff are unfailingly cheerful, helpful and always have her best interests at heart. She herself says she is very happy with her care and loves having all the staff chatting with her and looking after her, both day and night. For her 90th birthday, they arranged a wonderful tea party for us all. We would not hesitate to recommend Huntington House.
Pleasant, homely nursing home nurses are very kind and professional, and nursing care is excellent. Homemakers are lovely. Nothing is too much trouble.
My mother has been a resident of Huntington House for several years and is very happy and thriving there. Staff are friendly, caring and helpful, communicating any concerns promptly, including follow up if needed. Although able to care for herself my mother's health needs can be appropriately met by the provision of 24-hour cover of nursing staff; this ensures she receives the more in-depth monitoring that she requires. She also has specific dietary needs which are well met. The food is of excellent quality, beautifully cooked and good portions. There is a varied menu and a glass of wine is always available. I visit and stay for lunch regularly and am always impressed with the quality of the meals. My mother also takes advantage of the weekly hairdresser visits which help her to feel and look her best. There is a varied programme of activities for residents to participate in if they wish. All round, an excellent residential home with great facilities and caring staff.
I have spent a very comfortable and happy time at Huntington House. All the staff here have a genuine commitment to caring for all the residents. They are well-trained and competent in all areas. I was given an excellent choice of food and drinks. There were numerous activities which I could join in or not. Staff were happy to take me for a daily walk and my medical needs were dealt with professionally. This is a very happy, caring family-based home. Excellent.
Huntington House is an exceptional care home and during my great-aunt's 9-month stay, we found the staff and facilities flawless. She was very happy and thanks to the option of shared mealtimes and daily social activities, she was able to strike up some very dear friendships with the other residents. As a family-owned and managed concern, Huntington House has an ethos, genuine love and affection for the residents that contrasts very starkly with the larger, more corporate care providers. Set in the beautiful Surrey Hills there was always something to discuss on our visits and weather permitting, we were able to take my great-aunt out to see the animals on the grounds, sit in the gardens and enjoy a cup of tea and cake that the staff were happy to bring out to us. The care was second to none and it was immensely reassuring to know that our great aunt was in such capable hands. We are forever in debt to Huntington House and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.
My stay at Huntington House was good. I broke my pelvis in a fall crossing from a pavement on the 6th December 2023. The care in the home was good and my pain was controlled very well. The night staff were excellent and the day staff likewise, but difficult to remember all their names! Huntington House is a very special place. The dining room was alright, but at times disappointing, because one girl wasn't very welcoming to me!
This review relates to care my aunt has received since she came to the home at the end of July 2022. Although she wishes she were back in her own home she is happy and well cared for at Huntington House.
