View Full Details of Home Farm Care HomeAfter a wobbly start, we are now very pleased with the care given to Mum and the staff are wonderful.
The manager is very good and very helpful, but there is one man who doesn't give a very nice welcome to friends and family. I hope it stays pet-friendly.
I would say that my initial experience in Home Farm was not a good one. My husband and I were world travellers and life in a home was not an attractive one. The manager recognised this and did all in his power to accommodate us. We found the staff kind and helpful but my husband found the communal lounge upsetting but the manager found us another lounge in safe territory! Our general experience has been a good one. We have learned much and appreciate the way the manager has ensured that we have a church service in the home every Sunday. I would certainly recommend this home to others.
My husband and I came to visit mum in February 2019. It was so beautiful to see her face light up when we arrived. The staff and other residents were very lovely, they know mum so very well and the staff were so genuine and informative about mum's life in the home. They were also very compassionate and understanding as we’d just recently lost dad so this was a very emotional visit. I think I will always feel emotional when I visit my beautiful mum and I feel reassured knowing the staff are very supportive and understanding. I hope to visit again soon, can’t wait to see my mum's little face. Thank you to the staff who take such great care of my precious mum.
The care that my parents receive is exemplary. They are treated with kindness and respect and most importantly, as individuals. I visit frequently and the staff are friendly and welcoming and always ready to help. I am confident that I am kept fully informed of any health issues and all aspects of my parents' care are discussed with me. There is a wide variety of activities to cater for all tastes. The food is excellent and appetising. The rooms are comfortable and personalised. My mother has improved beyond all expectations in the happy family atmosphere and my father was touched by the warm welcome home he received after a recent spell in hospital. The whole family are reassured that my parents are safe and happy and feel ‘at home’ at Home Farm.
The care shown to our darling Dad was always great but during the time he was unwell and at his death, it was just wonderful - such caring and amazing friends looking after our dearest Dad. The way we were all supported as a family has been such a strength to us and we are overwhelmed by it, words simply can't express how highly we rate Home Farm Care Home. Thank you all very very much.
Both Manager and Assistant were extremely helpful and polite in addressing our queries as first-time visitors. They are to follow up all our requests to ensure my Auntie is as comfortable as possible.
Home Farm Care Home is a delightful well-run care home. My sister-in-law has been cared for here for many years and has been exceptionally well looked after. She is now 104 years old and has been treated so very well in every respect. She has her own room and is very comfortable.
A very friendly home where the level of care is exceptional. Lots of activities for the residents and the staff take time to talk and care for everyone.
Very happy with the care my Mother is receiving. Staff are excellent and extremely caring. Also, I receive regular updates regarding my Mother which is greatly appreciated.
When my mother-in-law arrived towards the end of March, she was warmly welcomed. All organisation regarding her move from Kent was made much easier due to the very helpful staff in Portree. Since her arrival, I have only noticed kindness and consideration from all the staff. Nothing has been too much trouble and we have at no time been made to feel that we were a trouble or that any question was too small.
We are delighted with the care given to our relative which gives us peace of mind as we live quite a distance away on the mainland.
Very good.
I can honestly say that I have never known a care home as good as Home Farm. The rooms, including communal areas, are all clean and bright. There are no unpleasant odours, residents are allowed personal belongings and furniture where appropriate and the layout and public areas a spacious and welcoming. Best of all, however, is the general atmosphere and welcome. The staff are without fail helpful, caring and above all cheerful. The public areas and office are always full of laughter and happiness which rubs off onto the residents who add to the welcome more often than not. From all I have seen and all that I am told by the residents, Home Farm is a wonderful place to be if your own home is no longer a viable option. This is only made possible because of the staff and local management, so a big thank you to all concerned. Oh...and I nearly forgot, I hear the food is pretty good as well. What more could anyone want.
My father has settled into the home due to the support from all the staff. He is well looked after and cared for. He is treated as an individual and his needs are met as an individual, not a number. He has not lost his identity at all and still has his sense of humour. He receives encouragement to socialise and take part in activities - very much aware of what is going on. Took part in the burns supper ceilidhs etc.
As a family, we cannot praise the manager and her staff highly enough for their care and attention towards my husband. He was admitted in emergency circumstances due to my becoming ill and they have gone out of their way to ensure his needs are met and that he is settled and content. His visitors are made extremely welcome and they have kept me and my family fully updated as to how he is getting on. An excellent home.
Mum is being looked after very well in every way. The best in Scotland.
This nursing home is out of this world and staff are jewels. Must be the best in Britain.
The standard of care of my father was outstanding. He was treated as an individual with care and interest in his personality and needs. We were quickly informed of any health or other issues. The staff were interested, motivated and helpful. The difference between Home Farm and the nursing home he had come from was marked. It was such a relief to see him as happy as his condition allowed him to be. I only wish he had agreed to be moved sooner.
My Mother-in-law is cared for in a safe and caring environment. Physically, she is very well cared for in terms of her personal care, she is well fed and hydrated regularly. Mentally she attends little events within the home. She appears happy, settled and we have nothing but praise for the staff, of all levels.
