View Full Details of Derwent Residential Care HomeMy mother has been a resident here for the past two years, and although she is progressing with her dementia, the care home manager and his staff have been very understanding and caring both with my mum and us as a family, always keeping us updated on what's going on. I know she is well looked after here
The staff are caring, patient and supportive both to mum and myself. Easy to talk to and I feel they listen or take on board any concerns. The one issue can be food, but mum has complained less lately. Mum is always clean and appears well cared for and any health issues are dealt with promptly. Lovely family atmosphere but more activities would be good.
Right from the very day my mother entered the care home, the staff have been amazing. Nothing is to much trouble. The facilities are excellent and spotless. Whilst she suffers with her memory she is always talking to at least one member of staff and getting about with her zimmer. Our small family have just celebrated her 90th at the care home and we were even allowed to bring in my daughter's new cocker spaniel puppy, which put a big smile on my mother face. I can't thank them enough for making her life bearable.
We are very please with the way the care home and the staff treat my sister, they are always very friendly and take good care of her. She seems to be happy and comfortable there, which is the main thing as far as we are concerned. We cannot praise Derwent and staff enough and they always keep us informed about her.
Good caring/friendly care staff, all get on well with my mum, and provide her a good family atmosphere. Clean environment, good food and a nice spacious room. Helpful and understanding management team. I feel my mum is being looked after well, following her move to Derwent in November 2024. After the initial move and some initial confusion on her part, she now appears to have settled and is accepting of the new environment
The care home look after my nan really well they go above and beyond for her. The staff are really friendly could do with a activity person so that the residents have something to look forward to, other than that it's a lovely home, nice atmosphere and the residents seem happy.
My mum moved to the Derwent residential care home in December 2024. Since mum moved to the Derwent residential care home mum is always telling me how much she loves the home and all the staff and her room. I have seen a massive improvement in my mum's health she is always happy and smiling she interacts well and always looks very well cared for. The Manager and all the staff are very approachable and I feel I am able to speak to them all if I have any questions. I visit mum often and am always welcomed with a smile from staff and a hot drink. The home is always clean and appears a calm happy environment. And the garden has a lovely fish pond and flowers for everyone to enjoy.
The staff are welcoming and very supportive, encouraging and polite to my mother in law. She was able to bring her own furniture to the home, which has made it feel more homely. My only concern would relate to food, which the literature suggests offers some flexibility. With a restricted budget, and the request for vegetarian food, this is often supplemented by us bringing food in.
My mum absolutely loves it here. She has been here couple of years now and has made couple of friends. She is finally safe. The staff are amazing and friendly and so helpful. Only thing I would recommend is more activities. Staff always go above and beyond to he caring and kind and helpful.
We moved my mother to Derwent Residential Care Home and the staff and management helped us through what was a difficult transition. They were kind, honest and professional and treated us as family, and my mother with care and dignity at a very stressful time. Sadly my mother died only 3 weeks after she arrived at Derwent but in those 3 weeks, she was well looked after.
I cannot recommend this place any more the staff are amazing my Nan was looked after and loved by all staff they made her feel like family. I visited every day they always welcomed me in and answered any questions I had, the manager is such a lovely man he went above and beyond to make nans last days as comfortable as possible. I will always remember all the staff and will always be in their debt for how amazing and caring they all are, thank you again and I will still pop in and see you all and say hello to the residents who I also became close to,
I cannot fault the care at Derwent. My mum loves all the staff and it’s a very safe environment. They are all exceptionally good at what they do and have plenty of care and understanding for my mum who is nonverbal. My only negatives are that mum sometimes doesn’t get up until 11 am and has her breakfast then and about an hour later will have her lunch. The only other downfall is they do not have enough activities at present, but there is a new manager who hopefully will bring this in place. Very impressed with the communications by the new manager to us as a family to keep us updated at all times.
Mum always appears to be happy, clean and well looked after. Communication between the care home and family is really good. The care home always looks clean and tidy and staff are all friendly and helpful.
Ever since I have been a resident my care has been second to none. The management and staff are so caring and nothing is ever too much trouble and always ready to listen to you if you need them. I would thoroughly recommend this home to anyone without question.
From the first time of seeing the home we were put at ease, the home is lovely and clean, no smells and the staff are lovely. Very spacious and well set out. The kitchen is lovely and clean and the meals smell lovely. We saw two homes before Derwent and they were disgusting. I can actually sleep at night knowing they are in good hands.
Lovely caring staff, very clean. My friend has settled in and is very happy. The rooms are big and decorated very nicely. The staff are excellent, nothing is too much trouble. My friend is very well cared for at Derwent.
All staff have been professional, friendly, helpful and patient. The home is clean, well run and comfortable. My sister has settled in well and is very happy at Derwent.
Staff are always helpful and friendly, always keeping me informed of any health developments and treatment. I very much appreciate all their help and care.
The staff made my father feel this was a home from home, they even bought him a lawn mower to help him continue his regular routines. Great awareness of needs that were addressed immediately.
Am grateful for all that the carers do - I know they are stretched and poorly paid. Some carers are more attentive and pleasant than others. Little things mean a lot - like the carer who buys cat treats for Mum and Dad to feed the home cat. Similarly - abruptness and impatience have an impact too. Some carers are very brisk and short - not allowing residents to be heard and dismissing them. Floors and tables are often dirty and sticky. Washing clothes - never seem to get own clothes returned! Poor stimulation and activities provided?
