View Full Details of High Broom Care HomeThe staff are kind and patient with my relative and their needs which vary from day to day. They are friendly and always make me feel welcome whenever I visit giving us the opportunity to go to a quiet area to talk with refreshments offered. I am confident that they can manage my relative with kindness and patience day and night. This is a huge weight off my mind knowing they are well cared for.
Mum thoroughly enjoys being in her new home and gets on very well with the staff. With her dementia, she stopped being happy but since being in the home she seems to be happy again. My mother has recently been poorly. The lovely staff looked after her really well and were very good at keeping her family up to date with her progress.
From the moment I walked into High Broom Care Home, I was greeted by singing and was immediately impressed by the friendly, person-centred approach. Having visited numerous residential homes in my quest, I was struck by the dignity and respect shown to the residents, as well as their understanding of each person's needs. The staff and management have the best interests of all residents in mind. My father's condition is sadly degenerating, but the strong and genuine relationships I have built with the management and staff have allowed me to spend quality time with him, knowing that his care and dignity are maintained 24 hours a day. I feel free to spend as much time with my dad as I want and never feel like a burden. I have even become his representative during quiz games. The most important thing to me is my dad and maintaining his dignity. With the support of all the staff at High Broom, I find peace and comfort in achieving this. For that, I will always be eternally grateful.
My father has now been in High Broom for nearly 18 months, and we can see the difference in him during this time. This is down to the care and support he receives from all the staff that work there. We have no concerns with the home and find the staff professional, hard working and friendly. If there are any concerns, then the team contact us straight away and I feel we have a great relationship with the staff. There are plenty of activities for the residents and the food is good. We as a family, are pleased we choose High Broom Care Home.
High Broom is a lovely place - it has a warm, caring and homely atmosphere. Residents are treated with respect, and the emphasis is on what the resident wants/needs. The staff are excellent - friendly and efficient and the management team are very open, good communicators and innovative problem solvers. We have great trust in High Broom and have never been let down. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it, and frequently do!
My mother has been at High Broom for a year now and is extremely happy with her choice. Everyone on the staff has been very helpful and has been meeting her every need and request. She loves being in the countryside and being able to watch the wildlife from her window has been a great pleasure for her. She appreciates being able to walk around the grounds too. Her only worry has been that she will get too fat as the food is so wonderful. On our arrival when visiting we are always greeted by a staff member and offered a drink (and a biscuit!) which is so very welcoming. The management are very approachable, efficient and easy to communicate with and I can't praise them highly enough.
Mum moved into High Broom in February. We were lucky enough to get her into one of the cottages, suitable despite her dementia as they are secure and have a carer 24/7. The cottage is lovely, roomy and homely, and allowed her to bring more of her own belongings than if she just had a room. This helped her feel at home straight away. She has a wonderful view of the lovely gardens from her sitting room, as well as her own private patio with flowerbeds. Brilliant for Mum as she was a keen gardener. The staff are all really kind, friendly, efficient and really smiley which makes all the difference. They always have time for you and will do anything for you. This means that the atmosphere in the home is really happy and nurturing. The food is lovely, also varied; they make separate cakes for the diabetics at afternoon tea and are always careful to ensure that a good range of foods are given over the day. The twice daily activities are also fun and varied. We all feel it couldn't be better.
I am always made to feel welcome when I visit my mother. The grounds are very pleasant for walking in, with my mother. She is very carefully monitored and kindly treated. There are plenty of activities on offer.
On visiting our relative, we are always made to feel very welcome. He has always been as happy as he can be, always well looked after, clean clothes and tidy. The choice of food is excellent including afternoon tea that relatives are encouraged to join. If any problems occur the home deals with them and informs promptly. They have wonderful activities and try to encourage residents to participate without badgering. The manager is excellent and is always available for a chat. All in all, we have never had any reservation in choosing High Broom Care Home.
I have been very impressed with the level of care given to my mother. Her sight has deteriorated and she has significant sight loss. The manager liaised with the Association for the Blind and special lighting has been provided in her room and at the table for meals. All without any prompting by us, her family. The food is very good and you can really order whatever you like - even "off menu". My mother especially enjoys her breakfast and the afternoon teas. The staff are lovely, extremely caring and empathetic towards the residents. This applies to everyone from the management to the carers, activities coordinators, cleaners, kitchen staff, and laundry staff.
My mother was always opposed to 'going into a home' but following a bad fall, was forced to do so. We chose High Broom Care Home as it was one of the very few outstanding care homes in the area and it has been one of the best decisions we ever made. My mother is so happy there - is always praising the staff who are just so kind and considerate, the food (which is extremely good and there is so much of it!) and the varied activities which she very much enjoys. High Broom thoroughly deserves its outstanding rating.
It's always a pleasure to visit Mum at High Broom Care Home. We are always made to feel welcome and always offered refreshments on arrival. The home is lovely and warm and often decorated with seasonal items which have been made in the arts and crafts sessions. The menus are varied and the food looks and smells delicious. There are always activities going on which keep the residents engaged. The staff are always happy to chat on how Mum is getting on and everyone seems to love the work they do in caring for the residents. The home is set in beautiful surroundings and is very well maintained.
Very pleased with High Broom Care Home. A wonderful care home. I have visited weekly for over a year and I am continually impressed by the visible care and compassion shown by all the staff. Furthermore, the many and varied activities offered to residents are exceptional.
My mother has resided at High Broom Care Home for almost four years. During that time, I have found the staff to be very kind and caring and they are extremely well-led by their excellent manager. High Broom is a very "homely" home and my mother is very content and settled there. Communications with staff and manager are easy and any queries or problems are swiftly dealt with. I would definitely highly recommend High Broom.
My parents have been living at High Broom Care Home for several years. Over that time, they have become frailer both mentally and physically. The staff at High Broom have been imaginative and compassionate in caring for them as their needs have changed, treating them as individuals and making them as comfortable and secure as possible. I am very happy to know that they are in such a caring, professional environment and trust the staff to act in their best interests.
My mother went to High Broom initially for respite for a month as she had a chest infection and mild dementia and we were struggling to meet her needs in her home. It was then decided that it would be safest for her to remain there. High Broom is fabulous for residents who are able to be downstairs and join in with the activities. So all started well, however, when, after a bout of Covid, her health and mind deteriorated and she didn’t want to leave her room we felt that she was rather ‘abandoned ‘ there. We understand she wasn’t easy as her dementia worsened, but she left there with severe dehydration, possible malnutrition and pressure sores. Her basic care needs were sadly not being met. Some of the staff are lovely, the food is very good (until it needs to be cut up for a resident) and I’m only writing this review so that others may be aware that if a resident is bed/room bound they may not receive the care and attention that they need.
We loved your home, had a walk around the grounds and activity centre, and went to the church service at 4 p.m. and they all loved it. My sister is in there for a month's respite care, she is blind and needs lots of help. The only thing she misses is her bath. If she ever needs to go into a home permanently she will choose you! We can't wait for our next visit.
Hi, my mum has been at High Broom for about 2 years. The staff are very friendly, I have no complaints whatsoever, apart from the observation that there's far too much Rhododendron ponticum in the gardens - I'm an ecologist, and it is invasive.
My mother has been a resident at High Broom Care Home since November 2021. I am constantly grateful for the care she receives from every member of the staff and management of this wonderful home. I was recently invited to a relatives lunch and so experienced first hand the excellent quality of the food and the professionality of the staff in action. The home is more than outstanding, I wish I could rate it more than 5 stars. Excellent communication comes from the weekly 'High Broom Herald' keeping all residents and relatives up to date with the news of what has been happening and of future events planned for entertainment/care.
My mum has just recently moved into High Brooms Care Home. She has settled in really well and this has been helped by her being well cared for by the friendly kind staff. The food is excellent and daily activities are keeping her stimulated and entertained which has improved her quality of life. As a family, we can phone any time and visit easily and feel very welcome by the staff. We could not have chosen a better place for our mum to be.
