View Full Details of The Oaks Care HomeThe Oaks has provided excellent, sensitive care to my mother, who has Alzheimer's/Dementia. The staff are always friendly, courteous and professional, and my mother is obviously happy, healthy and very well cared for.
Everything has always been run very smoothly as far as I have been able to see over the past difficult months with the Covid restrictions in place. I am kept up to date with everything by email and telephone. All staff have always been friendly and attentive. My mother appears to be very happy at The Oaks and is very well cared for. The new visiting procedures with all the restrictions are very well organised.
Mum has now lived at The Oaks for nearly two years and in all that time but particularly in the last year I have been so impressed with the care and support she has received from all the team. Communication throughout the pandemic has been excellent.
My father has been at The Oaks since January 2020. With their warm welcome, he settled in very quickly. The care has been exceptional. The staff are very friendly and patient. He says he is well looked after and enjoys the company. He was particularly touched by a birthday tea which was arranged for his 89th birthday. The home have been extremely careful to reduce the risk of Covid. Though periods of shut down have meant I have been unable to visit at times, we have been kept up to date. Regular zoom meetings with the Managing Director and home managers have kept us informed with current information and opportunity to ask questions. Arrangements were made for garden visits with access to a garden room when the risk was lower. This was very much appreciated. The catering is excellent and my father always says the food is very good. I am reassured that my father is in good hands.
October has been another busy, worrying and stressful time for all the staff at The Oaks; as if they haven't done enough this year. As ever, they do everything they can to keep the residents safe, something they have been hugely successful at this year. Without their commitment - not taking foreign holidays, complying with all the regulations in the wider community as well as the home, laundering their uniforms at the end of every shift, and putting their residents front and centre of all they do. Their reward - and heaven knows they deserve one - is that there have been no cases of infection amongst the residents nor, as of the most recent update, amongst the staff. And despite how tired and stressed they all must be, they keep a fine sense of humour and are great morale booster. And of course, they have to do all the things they would normally do for the residents (and doubtless their own families) as well. These are heroines and I thank them most warmly.
The Oaks was recommended to me when looking for respite care for my Aunt. Circumstances changed and permanent care was later required - my Aunt cannot speak highly enough of the staff, especially under the current difficult climate. I have also found the staff to be helpful and for the most time, kind.
