View Full Details of Cornerways Residential HomeI made the very hard decision to find my mum a care home that could cater to her dementia, keep her safe, make her happy, and treat her like their own mum. Cornerways has catered for all of this and I cannot thank the manager and staff enough. They even got her involved in activities and Mum made a new friend. Mum sadly passed away last week but during her 4 months here I never doubted the care and I always received phone call updates if they were concerned. They never complained when I rang them every day to check on her and they even decorated her bedroom when I said I wasn't happy with it. Nothing was ever too much.
My mum has been at Cornerways Residential Home for nearly two years. Suffering from dementia which has changed her sweet personality into, sadly, a person she never was. The management and staff are very understanding and always reassure me not to worry about this and they take it all in their stride. Never judge a book by its cover, the care they provide outweighs the aesthetics of the building. The food is freshly cooked and there is plenty offered throughout the day. I took my mum out the other day and on return, the same head carer was still there and answered the door to us with a smile and lots of enthusiasm, even at the end of a 12-hour shift! Well done staff, as you do a hard job!
I could not be more happy with the care we have received. The manager has been so supportive of us throughout this transition. Being a family member of someone with dementia is an extremely emotional ordeal. Cornerways have gone over and beyond to support us as a family. We were offered the chance to paint my Mother-in-laws bedroom to make her feel more comfortable which has been done for her. Cornerways staff have been so patient and understanding and have always been very approachable and welcoming. We as a family know that our Mother-in-law is receiving the best possible care we could ask for as a family. Her grandchildren have recently visited her and they all had a brilliant experience visiting Cornerways. They have always been very supportive, I personally have had a brilliant relationship with the manager. She's approachable, and down to earth and I could see from day one of my Mother-in-laws residency that she has an outstanding relationship with the residents. They trust her and as a family we are entirely grateful
Very friendly atmosphere and the staff are always encouraging residents to do activities, the manager is always very supportive and can always be approached. And always has time for the residents and staff.
My mother is now 95 and has spent the last year at Cornerways Residential Home. Although a little forgetful, she still has a sharp mind and great sense of humour. The care that she is receiving continues to be exemplary. The staff are truly wonderful, ensuring that she has all of the comforts of home. This is her home and she is surrounded by her new extended family. Her family and friends can call or visit at any time and are always greeted with a smile. Nothing is too much trouble. Mum and I would like to give special mention to the following for their kindness, care and professionalism: The manager, who runs this tight and efficient ship, and eight other staff members. I highly recommend Cornerways as a safe and secure haven for loved ones.
Staff and management go above and beyond to support and assist residents in their care. Our auntie loves being at Cornerways and enjoys a wide range of activities provided by the staff. All residents are given nutritious, healthy, balanced meals, freshly cooked by a chef every day. 100% the best residential home.
My parents have been in respite care for the last 2 weeks. Im very impressed so far with the care provided to my parents. The home has even managed to find them a room together. I've seen a marked improvement in my mum, she's so much happier now she has good support caring for my dad who has dementia. A very nice place with very helpful and caring staff.
The care of my wife has been exemplary. She is very happy here and my family and I are grateful for the care she receives.
A true care home in every sense of the word, The staff are dedicated to the residents, they have empathy and a good sense of humor too which is very much needed at times. The property itself doe not look very smart but believe me the people inside are the nicest and considerate staff. They looked after my parents and surrounding family during a very difficult period and we are very grateful for all that they have done.
My father who is 90 has been at Cornerways since September 2018, after being diagnosed with dementia. He wanted to stay in Kent, so his friends could visit. As we live in Bristol, it has been a real challenge to see him regularly. Understanding this, all the staff and particularly the manager have been brilliant. As we can't get to see him, the staff provide regular and detailed feedback on his health and care needs. He has his own room with an en-suite bathroom and his favourite chair in front of the TV. The food is cooked on site by a lovely chef who provides a variety of meals and bakes cakes for afternoon tea. Cornerways is now his home with an extended family. My dad is settled with a variety of communal activities including games and art and craft sessions. He is encouraged to do as much for himself as possible, but is quickly supported in any tasks his finds difficult. For the first time in his life, we can honestly say he is happy. Thank you Cornerways for caring for my dad.
My uncle stayed at Cornerways Residential Home until he was recently admitted to hospital. He was content and well cared for at Cornerways. The staff knew of his wants and needs and I know he liked them all. Covid was a difficult time and we were only allowed to see him through the lounge window, which was sad for us. However I know he was well looked after. I saw a video of him singing at a party on Facebook and photos of him in the garden. It is good that we could see photos and video clips on Cornerway’s Facebook page of the activities and residents during lockdown.
The service we have received from Cornerways can only be described as exceptional. My Mum has advanced Alzheimer's and we were told that she would be cared for as a member of Cornerways' family when putting her in there. This is so true they go above and beyond what is expected of them especially the manager. I cannot thank her enough for how she looks after my mum when she had to go to hospital - she is absolutely fantastic and I am so pleased that my mum has the care and love from the manager. She is an absolute credit to her profession and Cornerways. I can’t thank her and her staff enough they are all angels.
I cannot stress how much we appreciated the love and care received by my father. He was cared for like a little bird in a nest. For the owners, the amazing manager, and her dedicated team nothing was too much trouble. When he became unwell they tempted him with lovely food and kept him warm and safe.
All the staff are extremely caring. There is a very homely atmosphere. The manager of the care home is professional, caring and treats the residents like family. The residents are the most important priority to all staff ensuring they are kept in a homely, safe, secure atmosphere. Lots of activities to encourage residents to socialise and have an enjoyable time. Food is good and there is always a cup of tea ready.
We turned to Cornerways Residential Home post the death of her husband and main carer. Our plan was to move her to the family home in Spain in the new year so we needed somewhere for just a few weeks. We found Cornerways to be exceptionally warm, friendly, and kind and we found the carers and management to be very knowledgable about old-age care and genuinely caring. My mother has myriad needs and is a very fussy lady but even she only had good things to say about her time in the home - she often commented how well taken care of she was and how kind the staff was. I believe Cornerways is quite exceptional in this regard and we would not hesitate in using their services again should our plans for her care in Spain not work out.
My mother was in the care home for several weeks prior to her death early this month. The staff were so kind and helpful both to her and myself. The care she received was amazing and I would certainly recommend this care home to everyone considering care homes for someone they valued.
I've been coming to the home for 30 year plus and it goes from strength to strength. I have forged many friends here and can't speak highly enough about the registered manager and the staff. I would highly recommend this place and in fact, had a few relatives in the past stay here as well including my mother and mother-in-law.
The new owners have continued the excellent care service and are improving many aspects of the home as well.
