View Full Details of St Catherine'sMy dad had later stages of dementia. When he moved to St Catherine's, he was bed ridden and needed support for all of his ADLs. Most staff were kind and compassionate with my dad. However, due to staffing and lack of knowledge/experience, my father did not receive the care he needed. My family, especially at weekends, visited to ensure he was supported him to help meet his needs. Weekends, there were not enough staff, especially around meal times. My dad's weight plummeted drastically. It was heartbreaking to occasionally find his bed soiled/soaked in urine, only to be made worse to find, most of the time, had dried. I also found that drink/food/liquid medication had been rushed to the point it had dripped down his face and into his clavicle, this was too a regular occurrence. Care staff, due to no fault of their own, lacked basic positioning knowledge and despite us hiring a private physio to support my dad weekly, and provide various recommended positioning references, was not implemented.
Visited my auntie today who is a resident at st Catherine's. As soon as I walked through the door I was made to feel welcome by every member of staff. The home had a very warm, friendly atmosphere and it was very reassuring to see how happy my auntie was. On observation the residents were treated with dignity and respect and the staff demonstrated warmth and compassion towards everyone. I was leaving just as lunch was being served, it looked delicious and I noted sufficient staff were available for those that needed some assistance. What a lovely place and look forward to visiting my auntie again.
Very happy with the help care and consideration they gave my mum in her last days, wonderful staff from the nurses, carers, and office staff to the kitchen staff. Very warm and considerate people at this care home, nothing is too much trouble and you feel very well looked after. Help and support are just right outside the door and the facilities are very good and everything you need. Thank you to everyone at St Catherine's.
After being introduced and welcomed into St Catherine's community, the most accurate way I can describe it is not unlike a really friendly village. It appears to 'run itself' so well, it's obvious to me how hard staff and management work to connect things so seamlessly so the 'village' works together twenty-four hours every day. People get to know each other at their own pace, all are welcomed, whatever their disposition - respect given at all times. There is never a feeling of non-safety or isolation. All this is what makes for a very therapeutic environment. No one is left out or judged. Very many thanks for the enormous sense of relief you provide every single day.
The staff at St Catherine's are warm and welcoming. They are caring towards not just residents, but family members too. All the staff, including the cleaners and kitchen staff, go above and beyond for the residents, whether it be sitting with them, making a separate meal of their choice, or giving their room that deep clean. They all work well as a team and it is clean to see by all that St Caths is a family and is very well led by management. Residents are happy with daily activities on offer and a lovely outside area within easy access.
St Catherines was simply 'Outstanding' providing 'World Class Service' in an extremely friendly, caring and supportive environment! We visited 24/7 and 100% of the time and found all staff going above and beyond in terms of the way they treated both residents and visitors alike! We can not recommend them more and special mention to the lady on reception, the tall lad in the kitchen and all the many other support staff we came into contact with. Thank you for making my Dad's last days feel as special and caring as his life had been. Thank you with all my heart from my Mum and I.
My nan is treated exceptionally well. Despite her having dementia and being immobile, the staff included her in all activities. The atmosphere is warm and caring. Activity days are excellent, and it's so nice to see the residents enjoying themselves. There is always something going on, and one lady does all out to think of different activities to keep the residents entertained. We, as a family, feel very lucky to have this place.
My Dad moved here in July and we are so happy with the home. He is being cared for properly for the first time in years. The staff are happy and friendly and listen if you have any concerns and go out of their way to make the residents happy. The atmosphere is energetic and you feel welcome as a relative when you visit. The other residents' relatives have all become friends and they will talk to my dad if I’m not there. The manager, office staff, nurses, carers, activity coordinator, kitchen staff, housekeepers and the maintenance person all spend time with my dad and help care for him. It isn’t just the carers, it’s a shared responsibility of all the staff that the residents are well-looked after. The events that the activity coordinator organises are brilliant and families are encouraged to join in. I’m so glad we found St Catherine’s.
All the staff are wonderful; you could not pick one out. The food is excellent, with a good variety. We are made to feel welcome; also, nothing is too much trouble.
The staff provide an excellent service and support to my mum; she has nothing but praise for them all.
The staff at St Catherine's provide an excellent care service. They are dedicated to their jobs and treat all the residents as if they were their own family. The level of support to both residents and family is first class. Special mention to the manager and her team, who are wonderful - thank you for all you do.
My dad was a resident at St Catherine's for almost two years. He was happy and well cared for always. All the staff were brilliant and spent lots of time with him and he felt loved and cared for. Thank you for taking such good care of my dad.
My husband had to go into St Catherine's today for respite while I was recovering from an accident. I was assured that he could have his Kindle, his only reading matter because of his eyesight, his mobile phone and laptop to keep in touch with his family. I have just heard that he has none of those items. They have been taken for 'checking'. I was not told that this would happen. He now has to get through the night without reading or music. He is in a strange place with strange people and extremely vulnerable. They have not been caring or sympathetic at all. I shall fetch him out of there tomorrow.
The daily provision of tea/coffee and snack items is an excellent service. I have appreciated the help given to me with getting up each morning.
A beautiful place with a lovely, smiling team of helpers and cheerful residents. We had a peaceful time and plenty of chat. Thank you all.
I like the way in which the care home is turning into a pleasant place to live.
I think everybody that has a loved one in care would agree that the past few months have been very difficult and challenging. My dad only went into care last November and to St Catherine's February 2020. As a family, we were a bit hesitant having seen the CQC rating and how Dad would be cared for and then lockdown happened which, has been very upsetting and traumatic. However, we can't praise the staff enough they are all hardworking and so caring towards all the residents. They treat everyone with dignity and respect and we feel Dad is well looked after. The Manager and staff need to be congratulated as they have managed to keep the home COVID free which is such a relief. A big thank you to all the staff including kitchen staff and domestics.
The staff at St Catherine's went above and beyond to ensure that my grandparents were kept together. After my grandfather passed away, they gave my grandmother such care and affection and helped her get ready for the funeral, which was during the lockdown. The staff cannot do enough for the residents here and for that, I will be forever grateful.
Our Dad came to St Catherine's care home in March 2020. We as a family can rest in the knowledge that our dad is happier in his new home and this is apparant as he always has a smile on his face and loves to join in with all activities taking place. He enjoys all his meals especially his puddings, we as a family are extremely grateful to all staff for the care and support he receives on a daily basis. We would highly recommend St Catherine's to anyone looking for a care home for a loved one.
The team went above and beyond to make sure my grandma and grandad could be placed together after a difficult six months of them being separated due to different care needs. I wish they had received the level of care they get at St. Catherine's six months earlier. My grandad sadly passed away a few months ago but his care throughout his time at St. Catherines, including his end of life care, was exceptional. Every member of the team rallied around my grandma to support her and care for her while grieving which has continued through lockdown, while family have not been able to visit her. She was sad and lonely at home alone, now we never see her without a smile - the staff treat her like a member of their own family, there are activities for her to do and they accommodate family visiting so we can speak to her, albeit currently through a window. Management have kept family informed and updated, particularly through this pandemic. I cannot thank the team at St. Catherines enough.
