I'm so greatful for the care my father-in-law receives. He suffers from an awful illness that sometimes makes it hard for family to see him as we want to remember the man before the diagnosis. Him not knowing who we are, or even that we are their can be so upsetting. We can't thank staff enough, they support us as a family as well as caring beautifully for my father-in-law's needs. Us knowing he's safe and cared for by a professional compassionate team is a weight lifted off our shoulders. They go the extra mile to personalise his care. Even know he's is unaware of his surroundings he is always involved in activities, he's well groomed and well fed. All the things he would have wanted. Again thankyou
Wessex House is very well run and staff really helpful and friendly. It's very clean and warm visitors are able to make their own tea with biscuits available. I cannot praise the manager enough.
Wessex House cared for my husband with kindness and compassion in his last two months of life. From the manager to the handyman, all the teams who make the home tick helped our family through a very difficult time with a sense of calm that nothing was too much for them to take care of our loved one to the very best of their ability.
My mother-in-law has been at Wessex House for just over one year. The nursing care has been first-class during this period. My mother-in-law has dementia and needs 24/7 attention and this is given professionally and with care. The accommodation is kept exceptionally well and is very comfortable, coupled with staff working with a smile on their faces. I do not hesitate to recommend Wessex House.
I visit nearly every day. Entry/security arrangements are fine. The staff are welcoming and helpful and management accessible and effective. The rooms are bright and clean if somewhat hospital-style, which is probably most suitable for the majority of residents but perhaps not for everyone. The food (which I have sampled!) is tasty, varied and very well cooked. Portions are probably ample for most residents but the more active might discern they are slimming. However, plentiful snacks are always available. Communal facilities are bright and comfortable but underused despite great efforts by the entertaining staff to engage participants. The weekly hairdresser is much appreciated by the lady residents. Overall excellent.
Dad lived at Wessex House for the final 8 months of his life. Dementia is never easy, but he was always treated with great care and dignity. In his last couple of weeks of life, the staff would often sit in his room to keep his company - sometimes even when they were on their breaks. Much appreciated, really personal care.
The best of care for my dad during the last weeks of his life. Thanks so much to the manager and her dedicated team for providing a professional service in an environment of the highest standard. Providing food and drink to visitors at all hours of the day and night. Nothing but compliments.
The care and support my brother has received is excellent, ensuring he was given the medical attention he needed, together with preventative measures to avoid bed sores and other conditions likely to occur in overweight bedridden patients. The manager and staff are dedicated to their patients, going the extra mile to provide a happy and safe environment.
I came here for respite after having a pacemaker fitted. A very nice place and I was well looked after. All the staff were very caring, kind, the food was good too.
After an accident, I booked myself out of hospital and into Wessex House until I felt able to go home. The care was first-class and I was very impressed overall. My wife was also a resident until she passed away. The staff could not have been kinder. I would highly recommend Wessex House.
My mother was cared for palliatively. This was done with excellent care and support. The staff created a happy atmosphere in the home despite the circumstances being extremely sad. It was always lovely to see a smiley face on reception and I was impressed by the security. The junior care staff were always very friendly and senior staff were caring and supportive. Huge thanks.
Very supportive staff and management. Good atmosphere. The best possible place for my mother's last months. Very grateful for everything that was provided.
My mum was cared for at Wessex House for just over 2 years. The support we had from all members of staff was fantastic. The dedication, patience and kindness of staff was amazing. Thank you so much.
My Mother was a resident at Wessex House for over a year. The care was fantastic the whole time she was there. The facilities were always spotless and the food was very appetizing. Plenty of activities for all levels of mobility and in my Mother's case, dementia-oriented. Her room was kept beautifully tidy and clean. She lived her final year happy and content. Mother died in February aged 97 and the staff couldn't have been kinder or more caring. I am so happy to say she passed peacefully thanks to Wessex House. Very special thanks to the administrative and management staff who helped and advised us so thoroughly when my mother's funds ran low and for their exceptional kindness and thoughtfulness when she died. I continue to highly recommend Wessex House for all their love and care while my Mother was a resident. Thank you for everything you did for Mother and the family.
Mum has been here for twelve months. The level of care provided is fantastic, food is very good. Staff are friendly to us and always give mum the best care. We have all been made welcome as a family in the home. The activities that I have attended with mum have been good for her and the staff always give her the choice to take part in the activities.
My Mum has been in Wessex House for a year. My family are so grateful for their outstanding care. Not just of Mum but us as a family. Mum and her room are always clean, we are welcome at any time - it really does feel like home. All the staff are helpful and we have been able to make Mum's room very personal. The food is very good and plentiful. We are so glad Mum is here and not some of the other homes we checked out. Our instincts when we walked through the door to see them in March 23 were exactly right - it felt like home then and it still does.
I couldn't have wished for a nicer place for my sister to be cared for.
Settled in well. Very satisfied with the care provided.
My wife has Parkinsons' disease and dementia. At home, this involved up to seven tablets and five injections daily. She suffered frequent falls, the worst of which caused a dislocated shoulder. I felt unable to care for her safely and turned to Wessex House. It has proved to be a happy choice. We were invited to add pictures and other familiar objects to her room to make her feel at home. Consultation between her Parkinsons Specialist Nurse and the Wessex Medical Team means that in this secure atmosphere, she now needs fewer tablets and no injections. Staff are attentive, gentle and smile a lot which makes residents feel at home - the overall atmosphere is kind-hearted. Residents participate in enjoyable activities and the food is nourishing and tasty. Overall Wessex House is a safe, friendly welcoming residence, led by thoughtful and professional managers who listen to relative's concerns.
My mum was a resident at Wessex House for nine months and was looked after with exceptionally high care. The home is very clean, welcoming and the staff always have time for you. It was perfect that I could take her great-granddaughter into see her and she enjoyed meeting the resident rabbit and visits from donkeys, owls and disco. In the last few weeks, the care and love given to Mum by the staff has been a great comfort to me and her family and I can't thank them enough.
