View Full Details of The Cyder Barn LtdWe were looking for a carehome for my Dad for a week's respite. My Mother and I visited The Cyder Barn and felt that it had a lovely homely feel, wasn't too large and it wasn't too far away, and would be a good home for my Dad to stay. The manager was very nice and asked lots of questions to check on the needs for my Dad and came to his home to do the assessment. When we dropped off my Dad, he was welcomed by the very friendly staff who each introduced themselves and even the chef came to see him to let him know what was on the menu for that day. My Dad had a nice room (with a toilet and basin) , which although quite small was perfectly adequate for his week. Dad seemed to settle well and it was nice that they did have some activities that he could join in with to make him feel welcome. The facilities and food were good and the staff efficient and friendly,
My Dad was a full time resident at the cyder barn care home from July 2024 , this was a big change for both my dad and the rest of the family, but everyone at the cyder barn really helped us to adjust to this , and made my dad feel really welcome and well looked after. He always said when we visited how happy he was there, this made us feel happy and confident that he was in the right place. The level of care throughout was fantastic and we as a family was so grateful, even at the very sad time leading up to and when my dad passed he was so well cared for we couldn't ask for more. Thanks to all the staff and the managers at the cyder barn care home for looking after my dad so well.
My husband was a resident from the end of August 2023 until his death in July 2024 and the staff were very caring and my husband was very comfortable and well looked after. During the few days before his death the staff were very comforting and considerate to the family. The facilities were adequate but the decor and furnishing, although homely, were a little dated. The courtyard garden was a really calm and peaceful place. The activities team did a good job in the circumstances trying to involve everyone and arranging entertainment. The food was varied and well cooked and there were lots of little treats between meals.
All staff were pleasant and helpful and accommodated the needs of Mother-in-law very well. I felt assured that her care needs were attended to. I visited most days with one of our dogs which helped make her stay better.
We'd only ever heard positive feedback about the care provided at The Cyder Barn, so when Mum required respite care we arranged for her to spend 2 weeks there. Sadly Mum's dementia declined during her stay, we had to make the difficult decision for her stay to be extended. The staff provided an excellent level of care, were always willing to give updates over the phone or in person, and were prompt to contact us if there were changes in Mum's condition. Dad visited Mum daily with their dog, staff not only cared for her but were also welcoming and caring towards Dad as he struggled to come to terms with the fact Mum wouldn't be returning home. Sadly Mum declined, passing peacefully away in November, still under the dedicated care of the Cyder Barn team. Dad and their dog have been welcomed back by the team, they now visit regularly, as the residents love to see his dog and Dad enjoys the company. Highly recommend the Cyder Barn. Dad has already said if he ever requires care, that's where he wants to be.
Mum moved to the Cyder Barn last summer. Ever since her first day everyone has been so welcoming and caring getting to know mum and given her everything she needs and would like. All of the staff are wonderful. They are lovely company for mum. Her room is lovely, the food delicious and the caring second to none. Thank you!
My mother received respite care over the Christmas period and at other times, me and her family have found the care she received excellent. The people at the Cyder Barn are very friendly, helpful and professional. They immediately informed us if my mother was feeling unwell or had other issues and took the appropriate action. I can only give my highest praise and will certainly use the service in the future.
My mother moved into the Cyder Barn because she needed respite care after a fairly lengthy hospital stay. The staff there organised her admission quickly and efficiently and went to great lengths to help her settle in and meet all her needs. She couldn't speak highly enough of the staff, the food, her room, the views, the home in general, and the other residents. Unfortunately, she deteriorated during her stay because of mental health issues and she became much more difficult to care for. However, the Cyder Barn staff were unfailingly patient and supportive until she deteriorated further and had to go back into hospital.
After extensive searching and even trying out one home, I am so relieved to have found The Cyder Barn, where my mother is now a resident. The stand-out factors are the quality of care, a person-centred approach and real human connection; qualities that I see consistently when visiting my mother. The Cyder Barn is a home that genuinely merits the description of a care home - there is a real and prevailing sense of care from all of the staff and it has a very homely environment. These qualities are at the heart of the day-to-day running of the home. The staff are always willing to engage in conversation with me about any aspects relating to my mother's care and are very happy to take up any suggestions. The quality of the food is good and there is a wonderful activities person who delivers a wide variety of group and individual activities, doing a fantastic job at relating to and engaging the residents. I would highly recommend this care home.
Since my mum arrived over five years ago, Mum has received nothing but amazing care even through Covid etc. She has far exceeded her life expectancy that we were originally expecting, I strongly believe this is down to the amazing care and dedication from the whole team, especially some that have shone through. As a dedicated loving son, I have no hesitation but to recommend The Cyder Barn at the highest level, this is the best. So if you’re researching them for a loved one, look no further and if there’s availability try them, you’ll not regret it. In this area, they are the real deal. Cyder barn team - well done - you're the best. Thanks to everyone.
My mother has been a resident at The Cyder Barn, since 2018, (originally together with her husband now passed). The environment and standards there are first class. The accommodation is homely, safe, and interesting, - including great natural lighting and natural stonework. Meals, refreshments, entertainment, care, friendliness, - all aspects are tip top. The accommodation lacks a clinical feel, - but that doesn't mean any absence or lack of medical care and essential bespoke well-being management. Care-plans are extensive and comprehensive, - and sent to relatives for information and review, on a regular basis. I would highly recommend this well managed establishment.
Always a delight to visit Mum at The Cyder Barn. She never fails to tell us how well she is looked after and has thrived during her time there.
I was in a very difficult situation, my husband suddenly became ill and needed constant supervision. The Cyder Barn Care Home was able to offer daycare as well as providing a safe, clean and welcoming facility for him and was also very supportive to me. The staff were cheerful, helpful and care was taken to make us both welcome. Special thanks to the manager for going out of her way to tailor the service to our needs. It was very much appreciated.
The Cyder Barn provides an exceptional, caring environment for my elderly mother. I take enormous comfort in knowing my mother is being cared for 24/7 by tremendous, attentive staff. It would be difficult to think of a better place for her to be.
The manager and team supported us with urgent respite care for my dad, who has dementia. They were fantastic at supporting with quick admission, were friendly and approachable and requested detailed information on Dad's likes, dislikes and history to enable them to deliver person-centred care, despite this only being a temporary placement for a week. I called the home tonight to see how Dad is settling in and was reassured by the feedback. Thanks for helping out at short notice, it’s really appreciated
We were very lucky to find a place for Dad at The Cyder Barn. It was an emergency placement and Dad received such warmth and friendliness from the staff during his short stay. We couldn't have asked for anything more. Sadly, Dad passed away and once again, the staff were extremely helpful and caring. Thank you. I am unable to comment on some areas as we didn't visit.
In the 4.5 years Mum has been in the home, I have always found the staff to be honest, kind and they have shown Mum a lot of dignity. She has always enjoyed the activities, which I think keep the residents going and alert. At the end of Mum's life, they showed me kindness and understanding. I could not have asked for anything more. Thank you.
I would like to thank the management and staff at The Cyder Barn for the care both my parents received. The professional approach was always implemented, alongside the most wonderful kindness and care to both my parents. Nothing was too much trouble, and I knew that my parents were "safe" and being looked after. I was always kept up to date, every one of the staff and management was friendly and caring. Thank you.
Just over two years ago, my mothers Alzheimer’s dementia had reached a stage where she was no longer able to stay in her own home. My wife and I were relatively new to the area and we wanted Mum to be near us so that we could be around for her, take her out while it was still possible and visit. We had nobody to help with recommendations for a care home so had the difficult task of using just the CQC ratings and paying a visit to several homes. We found The Cyder Barn felt very homely, the staff very friendly and accommodating, and the views of the surrounding countryside from some of the rooms were wonderful. We were encouraged to visit whenever we liked and without the need for arranging a specific time. Over the two years that my Mum stayed at the home, the staff always seemed very polite and courteous to Mum, and as her needs increased, so did their attention and levels of care.
Mum was only a resident of the Cyder Barn for a short period of time, so I can't answer all the questions fully and have put "don't know" where applicable. For Mum's stay, I found the staff of the Cyder Barn to be extremely professional and courteous towards myself and family members, Mum had her favourites, and I could see why when I visited, treated with care and compassion and not talked down to or in a condescending manner, as I have found elsewhere. Towards the end, we were allowed access to sit with Mum, a memory that will stay with me forever, thank you doesn't seem enough! Please don't be put off by the Barn's appearance, externally it does need a lick of paint or some maintenance here and there, from what I saw internally all looked ok. Mum was here for care and compassion in her last few weeks, and she got it. Thanks to all the staff at The Cyder Barn.
