View Full Details of Whitfield EMI/Residential HomeMy dad went into Whitfield Care Home straight from hospital. I cannot thank the staff enough for the care and compassion that my dad received at Whitfield Home. I would recommend this care home to everyone.
My father spent the last 4 weeks of his life at Whitfield Care Home. He was treated throughout with dignity and compassion. The management team and staff were all so caring and made sure he was clean and comfortable at all times. They were also kind and supportive to us as a family and we would not hesitate to recommend the home.
During my first visit to Whitfield Residential Home, I have found I am always greeted as a friend, in a lovely welcoming manner. Staff cannot do enough to make my visit comfortable. My dad is very happy and content and extremely well looked after, which is peace of mind for my family and myself. The accommodation is clean and well maintained and managed. Staff treat my father with respect and dignity and must have a great deal of patience and are so dedicated. Thank you!
The care at the home is excellent. The staff are professional, friendly and caring.
After attending a Mexican BBQ that was put on for the residents and their families and numerous visits, the staff at Whitfield were amazing and friendly and went above and beyond to make the day special and that everyone was happy. Nothing was too much trouble, and it was so reassuring to see my sister and fellow residents so happy and content. I feel very lucky that my sister is in a care home with amazing staff and a truly happy environment.
I have just attended the summer BBQ at Whitfield residential home where my dad has been for about 3 months. It was a lovely afternoon with all the staff making sure the residents and guests had a good time, also a great singer to bring back memories. So far this home has been great with my dad who was very challenging when he arrived from hospital but is now much more himself, he is happy and the staff are kind and have been very helpful and understanding with me as I have found the transition to him being in care very difficult.
Witnessed a resident shouting and screaming from her chair. Care assistant stood directly in front of her, and shouted 'stop it, just stop it' repeatedly. I was horrified - this is not the way to communicate with any resident. (I am a qualified mental health nurse). She shouted this phrase several times. My friend said that she often does this to residents.
Whilst initially disappointed with the building and interior, as a family we found it rather tired looking, it has been undergoing some re-decoration and the gardens are really nicely planted and kept. Over the next few days, then weeks, we found the staff to be extremely helpful and so good with my husband. Post-op he was not able to walk very much but is now very mobile, eating well and interacts with his carers well who are hard-working, cheerful and patient!
The hardest decision in life is to pass the care of a relative to strangers. The team at Whitfield are caring, welcoming, compassionate and create a family atmosphere. Knowing they all genuinely care for my father eases the pain of losing him to dementia. He is content, settled, always clean, well fed. He has put on weight eating home-cooked meals. Thank you for all you do.
I always visit on a different day without warning and have been delighted to find the home is clean, warm and tidy. The residents (28 of them) all seem happy and content and the staff are all without fail, kind, caring and attentive to the needs of residents and while I would prefer to have my husband at home with me, I am reassured that he is being cared for by the people who really do care.
My mother was a resident at Whitfield care home for 10 years until her death in December 2023. For the last 2 years, mum has been nursed on end-of-life care. Throughout her time at Whitfield, she was treated with care and compassion. The Manager and the rest of the staff have been excellent, keeping me informed of the changes in mum's condition, and always making sure that mum had whatever she needed in terms of care and equipment to keep her as comfortable as possible, right to the end. As I live a long way from Dover, it has been invaluable for me to have mum somewhere that I know provides such good care to people suffering from dementia. Thank you all.
This care home was found for our mum following a dementia-related hospitalisation in September 2021. We found the home absolutely brilliant with regard to Mum's complex needs and throughout her time there the entire staff team looked after Mum so well. Their dedication, compassion, expertise, and empathy were second to none this made us, the family, know Mum was in the right place. We could visit as often and for as long as we wanted. The home in general and specifically Mum's room was well-appointed and kept. If asked, the family would recommend this home without hesitation.
I have so far found the overall experience when visiting this home to be very good. When I visit my elderly mother who is a permanent resident, she is well cared for and the staff are attentive to her needs. Whilst the home may look a little dated from the outside, it's what happens inside that is important, so I am very satisfied that they are looking after my elderly mum.
My wife has only been in the care home for four months, so my view is limited to a short period of time and experience. She appears to be happy and contented and so am I.
I am more than satisfied with the care that is given to my sister. She is well looked after in a safe environment.
A lively, caring staff team who go to great lengths to ensure that my mother is treated as an individual. There is always an upbeat, happy atmosphere when visiting and I am made to feel most welcome. Whilst it may not be the most luxurious of homes it certainly has all the important elements of home. Safe, fun and caring.
Our mother has been a resident of Whitfield EMI care home for over six months. It's been really nice to see mum happy and well cared for. Every staff member works really hard to make mum happy and relaxed and at home. This includes management and catering staff too. It's like a large family. Big thank you to all that works there.
Since March 2020 just wish we had more updates and maybe photo's or monthly newsletters. Just feel that we could have had more correspondence with the nursing home. Each time we phoned we could speak to our mother but she did not understand the situation and feel we could have had closer contact with her. We feel we should have been able to see her at a safe distance.
Unfortunately due to covid, it has been restricted visits to my mum but have been able to telephone her. We are now allowed a visit and can sit with her and hold her hand. My mum is looked after well, always looking clean and tidy. All the staff have been very good through such a difficult time with the covid. If I have any concerns I can always speak to the manager who has the answer to my questions.
Mum has settled in lovely. The staff are amazing and look after mum well. The staff are really friendly and professional. I can relax knowing mum is well looked after. I can't thank the staff enough.
