View Full Details of Eccleshare Court Care & Nursing HomeMy husband was here for 4 years, and the staff were always pleasant and helpful. We were always informed of any incident and kept up to date with his care. I would recommend this home, especially for dementia residents. The food was of high quality and well presented. Outings were varied and always enjoyed. The reception staff were equally good.
My mum was sent here from hospital. From the moment I walked in when mum was admitted I knew I'd made a terrible mistake. She was left hanging in a hoist as the battery was not charged, before being taken in the lift to her room, shouted at for not for not lifting her leg (she had had a stroke) and put into a bed with no cot sides, which didn't appear till the next day! Arriving the next morning mum had a large skin tear on her stroke hand, she was given a normal meal for lunch, explained she was a level four puree as in her notes, mum was then given a soft diet, spoke to the nurse and she said it was a puree, didn't even know the difference! Mums leg fell out of hoist, had her chest burnt in the shower, often left in a wet bed, fought 5 weeks to get her out of there. I've worked in care 3 decades and knowing what to look for, I've never seen such bad care. Please don't do it!
The home needs some attention. Don't believe the owners spend much on it, especially as the fees are disgusting for what the residents receive. The manager is lovely and very helpful but one member of staff thinks she is the manager.
My husband was cared for by great nurses and carers up to his death on May 30th 2024. He was treated with care and dignity.
I am happy with the care mum receives. I don't like being unable to care for her myself but Eccleshare Court is the next best thing. The team are approachable and happy to help with any of my questions.
I think the staff are excellent and the fact this home is not supported by all agency staff makes a huge difference as they get to know the residents. They are friendly and professional whilst dealing with emotional and difficult circumstances. I have scored low on value for money but that is my personal opinion that the government do little or nothing to support families who have to put their loved ones into care. This is not a reflection on Eccleshare care, management or support. I feel quite strongly that I trust them with my father's care as they treat him with dignity and compassion.
Overall rating good but some staff are better than others so lack of consistency. Silly little things which niggle at you could be easily rectified if staff took a little more time and care. For example, mother dressed in a really creased jumper, tee shirts left on all day with tea stains etc from breakfast, hair not brushed, wheelchair not cleaned on a weekly basis, like it should be.
Seems to struggle keeping and motivate the key care and nursing staff as there is quite a turnover. The key staff are always amenable and approachable, unlike the management, don't see much of them and I don't feel they are approachable. The reception area is always a nice welcome. The care staff seem always to be smiling when with residents, even with the difficulties they face. Activities are always good and interesting with a great variation, this person has now left so not sure how the direction will go. Time will tell. Food, mostly good with an excellent variety, occasionally you see something strange on a plate, like tinned tomatoes! The quantity of food served can be very variable, especially at tea time- sometimes 1 quarter of a sandwich and a cookie others 3 quarters of a sandwich and a cake, still less than 1 slice of bread! Occasionally more like a fish finger and a few chips. But the quality is good, just make sure all carers distribute the same and a minimum of two slices.
I'm very impressed with this care home. All the staff are very friendly and helpful, both to my husband (resident), family, friends and myself. Facilities and food are good - my husband eats well (hope he doesn't put on too much weight!). If I have any worries, I only have to mention it to a member of staff and they quickly resolve it or find out what needs to be done and who to contact. It's very reassuring that someone always lets me know if they have any worries about my husband and lets me know if he has a fall. Thoroughly recommend this home.
My husband receives excellent care from the care staff. They are friendly, cheerful and caring despite having a difficult job to perform. We have never had any reason to complain about the service we receive. I know I can rely on the care my husband receives and he is in safe hands. The food is good and the rooms are cleaned to a high standard. I would recommend this care home.
I am pleased with the level of care provided for my father over the past 15 months by all the staff, who show genuine kindness and love to my father (and the family). He always appears happy and well cared for and tells me how kind the staff are and enjoys his meals. I am impressed with the provision of activities and trips, which have definitely enhanced my father's life in care, especially the thought and effort put into the celebrations for his special birthday.
My wife has been a resident for over 2 years and has been well looked after the staff are always quite friendly to both my wife and myself I have my lunch with her on Sundays and my son on a Wednesday. We both agree that the food is first class I would recommend this home.
Excellent care home. All staff are frienly and supportive not only to my dad but to me also. Facilities and food are brilliant, and always something going on if you want to be involved. Highly recommend it to anyone thinking about using a care home, always a difficult decision, but your loved one will be safe and treated like a family member.
My dad came to the day centre and I came to check everything out beforehand and I took him and picked him up. The staff were absolutely amazing. Nothing too much trouble. He was only one of a couple without dementia so the staff made sure he was with people he could speak to. They treated everyone like family and constantly kept me involved with anything regarding my dad. He wasn't too keen to start there but ended up going twice a week & we were looking into him going more. He really enjoyed himself. He really enjoyed the food (that was very important to him) and loved the staff. I wholeheartedly think this home is amazing. They made my dads last year so full.
Personal care routines not followed, despite repeated asking. Room was sparse and the chair had been removed and not replaced until brought to the attention of management. Clock hadn't worked for over a year. Overfeeding, despite being asked to keep portions to a normal amount. Wearing of other people’s clothes, despite ours being clearly marked.
The staff are all very helpful, friendly and can be relied on to assist with any problems that arise. They all appear to be very patient and caring with the residents and provide facilities for entertainment.
Thank you to the staff who work very hard in a demanding and complex environment. I have witnessed some staff who go above and beyond to help Mum be as calm, comfortable and happy as possible. It has been really lovely to see Mum enjoying the activities.
Most of the carers are really good and deserve higher reward. But, I feel there are not enough of them to give my mum the full care and attention she needs. I would also like to see her encouraged more to join in activities, which I have mentioned a few times.
Every time we visit my dad, he is always happy and content. Nothing is trouble for the staff; they have helped my dad settle into the home and now we have peace of mind that he will be well looked after.
The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Can’t fault the management; any concerns I’ve had have been dealt with straight away. Mum absolutely loves all the staff and says they’re wonderful with her. Rooms are a really good size, and the food always looks good; haven’t tried it, but Mum says it’s lovely.
