View Full Details of Barchester Ashminster House Care HomeI find Barchester Ashminster House Care Home to be a really caring, person-centred and happy place. Staff are always friendly with time to give any answers to questions you may ask.
My husband has been in the home for about three months. I cannot praise the staff enough. He has been well cared for in a lovely, welcoming environment. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff regarding the family needs and there is always someone available to allay the family's concerns. I am impressed with the activities that are on offer. My husband is well fed and has settled well in the home which gives me peace of mind. I would recommend this home to anyone.
My mum has been a resident here since August. This home has lovely staff and some nice communal areas (lounges, coffee area, dining room). The presentation and decor are luxurious compared to some I have seen. Nice carpets, wallpaper and decorative touches. Gardens are not expansive but nicely kept and provide areas for sitting with a cuppa, bird feeding/watching. In good weather, activities are held in the garden (e.g. BBQ, crafts, live musical/comedy shows). Some of the rooms are small for residents who have mobility issues and therefore have wheelchairs/strollers taking up floor space. Can make opening wardrobe doors a juggling act. All rooms have private WC and basin. A spa bath is available for residents. Complete with chair winch for safely getting in and out. The general shower room is large but does lack support handrails, a shower chair is available to sit whilst washing. There are excellent teams onsite for nursing, caring, activities and entertainment, laundry, catering and maintenance.
My husband was here on two weeks respite. Overall, was very happy, staff were lovely and very welcoming, especially one member of staff who was such a lovely, caring lady. The amount of food and drink is outstanding and all very fresh and well-cooked. My husband was always clean and well-presented. The only thing is it's a little dated on memory lane but understand it's being upgraded in September and also felt there could be a bit more activities laid on, maybe a singer or little group.
When my nan became unwell, she went into hospital and couldn't go home. As a family, we made the decision to find a care home and found Barchester Ashminster House Care Home and what a decision we made. We can't fault the care she was provided from beginning to end. The staff to management were fantastic! Sadly, Nan passed away but the last memories we have are amazing.
A huge thank you to all the staff at Ashminster House who cared for my father-in-law. Everyone was always helpful, genuinely caring, efficient and professional helping us to feel that he was in the best possible place and being well looked after. You all do a great job and always with a smile! With thanks from all our family.
After four very bad weeks at home, Barchester Ashminster House Care Home took my father in for a two-week respite care. I can't recommend this home enough. From the first call to the last day, everyone was caring and professional. The nurse was amazing and went above and beyond to care for my, sometimes difficult, father. All staff were very good and I felt like part of the family, not just a number.
Our mum has been at Barchester Ashminster House Care Home for just over two years now and I would again like to thank all the staff for everything they do. Nothing is too much trouble and the dedicated care, love and kindness everyone gives consistently shines through. Mum is very happy and settled and it is a pleasure to spend time with her and the other residents and staff at Ashminster House. I would like to give special mentions to the catering team whose culinary skills are outstanding, the domestic team for keeping everything so spotlessly clean and tidy, and the entertainment/activities team who are constantly thinking of new ways to get to know and stimulate the residents so that all can join in and enjoy the activities. Thank you also for making us feel so welcome every time we visit, we really do feel part of the Ashminster House extended family.
My husband has been at Barchester Ashminster House Care Home for two years, the care, kindness and understanding has been unbelievable. The staff are all fantastic, not only to my husband but also to the family, they do really care and are there to put an arm around you when times are hard. We were so very lucky that my husband is in Ashminster Care Home. You have as a team given us extra time with him and for that we will always be grateful. Thank you.
My mum has been at Ashminster for over five years. She had her 79th birthday in September, and as always, the manager and all staff went out of their way to make it a very special day for Mum and us as a family; we used the family room and had a party. My mum is in the later stages of Dementia, and the care Mum receives from all the staff is outstanding - a real family feel to the home. All the staff are excellent, go the extra mile, and are welcoming, friendly and caring, and I can sleep at night knowing my precious mum is receiving the best care.
My mother stayed at Ashminster for a two-week respite stay. This was her first time at a care home and we were nervous about how she would react. From the moment we arrived, the staff were welcoming, friendly and caring. She soon settled in and kept saying what a wonderful place it was. Ashminster is very professionally run, with excellent staff. It is very well maintained and spotlessly clean, with excellent facilities and superb food. But above all, it is homely. We have been so pleased with how well this first stay went we have booked Mum in for another respite stay next month.
Wow, where do I start? I started with very caring, loving and supportive friendly staff who will go out of their way to help and support care for the person who is under their care. My mum was under their care at the last minutes of her life they showed so much support and comfort to my mum and her family at this sad time, nothing was too much trouble for them. So thank you to all the staff for lining the main road to show my mum off. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being so caring.
My father has only been a resident for a short period of time, but all the staff are attentive to all residents and show courtesy at all times. All enquiries are answered quickly and sensitively. I would recommend this care home to anyone considering this option for a relative.
My husband has been a resident in this care home for nearly one year, initially in the nursing unit, then moved to the dementia unit, Memory Lane. We, the family, are delighted with the care and kindness shown to him. Nurses, carers, admin staff, cleaners and all staff work together as a team. The atmosphere is warm and friendly. Visitors are made to feel part of the wider family, being offered tea/coffee whenever these are being served to the residents. A special word of appreciation must go to the nurses and carers, whose patience and kindness are unfailing. I am always kept informed about any change in my husband's health or treatment. I warmly recommend this care home.
My mother-in-law went to Ashminster Home after falling ill at home and sadly passed away after about 4 weeks. However, during the time she was there, she was looked after extremely well by all the staff. They were all so caring and treated her with such dignity. We were always made very welcome when we visited. The staff always kept the family informed of any changes in her health and nothing was too much trouble. I would highly recommend this care home to anyone.
Sadly Dad was only at Ashminster for 2 weeks before his death, but during that time he settled very well and was very happy. His needs were more than met ad our family were always made very welcome and the staff were brilliant - I couldn't have asked for more. Thank you for your excellent care and loving attention.
My daughter and I visited numerous homes in the Kent area in 2018 looking for a nursing care home for my brother, who would need 24-hour nursing care and was hugely impressed with the nursing staff and facilities at Ashminster House. My brother was a resident in their nursing care facility for almost 4 years and passed recently. The staff, whether nursing or domestic, showed the greatest care and love for my brother. He was extremely well looked after and because of his complex medical needs, the nursing staff would always call me and advise me of any changes to his physical health. It gave me great comfort knowing that I would always be kept informed and was able to attend hospital appointments. During the pandemic, I was always kept informed of the latest restrictions, and every effort was provided by the staff so I could keep in touch by Skype. I really can't praise them enough for their compassion and care of my brother, and also for the hugs and comfort they gave me during the end stage.
The care at Ashminster House has been excellent. Our father was there for 5 weeks he was very happy and always commented on how nothing was too much trouble. He was always very comfortable and the staff who cared for him were always caring, attentive and supportive. The home is scrupulously clean and well maintained and we couldn't have wished for a nicer place for him to have his end of life care.
First experience of a care home for my 86 year old mother who after a period of time in hospital, following a serious fall and some respite required, I have been delighted with her progress. After five weeks of care, she is ready to go home. The staff have been wonderful. The choice of food and quality was appreciated by mum and special thanks go to the general manager who went above and beyond. Would certainly recommend it.
My sister and I researched a number of nursing homes before making the decision to place our mum in Ashminster House. Mum’s health needs had changed rapidly and seriously so as to require 24-hour nursing care which could not easily be provided in her own home. From the start of the process we were very impressed with the atmosphere at the home, the dedication of the entire team and the management and interpersonal skills of the General Manager. Our mum has multiple and complex health issues but she is so well looked after by the very friendly, professional and caring nursing team led by Unit Nurse Manager. She is treated with respect, dignity and compassion. We are always kept informed of any changes or concerns in relation to mum’s health. Her quite exacting dietary likes and dislikes are also efficiently responded to by the catering team! Our mum is clearly calm and relaxed at Ashminster House and we know that she is safe and in great hands.
