View Full Details of ApplewoodMy mother was admitted to Applewood care home in February 2020 at the age of 99 after suffering a fall, fracturing her wrist and pelvis. She was also suffering from dementia. Throughout the 5 years, she has been very well cared for. The staff are all very friendly, working efficiently as a team providing a high standard of care. Over time her physical and mental condition have deteriorated steadily and the home has taken the necessary steps to adjust her care to avoid accidents and to provide appropriate stimulation.
My aunt has lived here for over five years now and continues to be well looked after. As her needs have changed her care has been adapted and staff are always kind and caring. Thank you.
A lovely, homely care home that manages the perfect balance between efficiency and caring. Lots of fun and laughter. I'm always made to feel very welcome and am always greeted with a friendly smile by every member of the team.
My mum loves being here. The staff are fantastic I can't fault anyone. They're always friendly and it's nice to hear laughter (mum joins in). The activities are fun, which I usually join in with if I'm there at the time. I know Mum loves it when they go out in the minibus. It's a pity to hear about the dining room ceiling falling in but hopefully, it'll be sorted out ready for their Christmas dinner.
An extremely well-run home. All of the staff are friendly and helpful. They work in circumstances I could never imagine myself being strong enough to handle yet always have a smile. I am always kept informed of any news from the home affecting my parent's care or well-being.
Applewood Care Home treats all its residents with the greatest of respect. My mother has been in their care from the early stages of Alzheimer's and has enjoyed many trips out and events at the care home. I would definitely recommend Applewood to anyone who wants their loved one to be cared for and looked after.
The residents are all treated with equal kindness and compassion, this creates a happy, homely and content atmosphere for residents, staff and visitors. My husband is a resident and I cannot fault the communication from Applewood which is key when trusting the care of a loved one, I have the utmost confidence that my loved one is also Applewood's loved one. My husband enjoys one-to-one time with the staff, activities and trips out and care adapted each day to suit his needs. Thank you Applewood.
I have always found the staff at Applewood friendly, caring and will do anything you ask of them. They are always approachable and communicate with us if there are any issues or just to keep us updated. My aunt feels safe at Applewood. I would recommend this care home.
My husband bit his finger badly and although he was given excellent care at the home, he had to go back and forth weekly to the hospital as they tried to save his finger. Sadly they couldn't and it was amputated. The staff went with him to all his appointments giving up their own time, and the day of his operation one of the carers was at the hospital for almost 12 hours. That is caring of the highest quality and that is what my husband gets every day at Applewood.
My mother has been a resident for several years, through many stages of Alzheimer’s. The care throughout has been genuine, kind, professional and consistent. Our mother's needs have been met, whether it’s a day out, arts and crafts in one of the homely resident's lounges or in her own room one to one. Decisions regarding Mum's care are empathetic, data-led and in collaboration with us, her family. It’s hard not being able to provide all the care at home, but now we can be the loved ones, enjoy time with our mother and not worry.
My mother has been at Applewood for over a year now and has settled in very well, and is always telling me how wonderful the care staff are. The activities are wonderful, events and days out, which she doesn’t always join in, but that’s her choice. If the staff have time they will do a one-to-one in her room which she enjoys. I have always been greeted with caring and friendly staff who have supported me through the last year, any concerns I have are dealt with accordingly. I am kept well informed and I’m so glad I found Applewood. The only negatives I have is because mum will only eat in her room her food is sometimes cold and the laundry is a bit hit and miss. Overall a lovely caring home.
Very pleased with the service and care that Applewood give the patients. Cannot find any fault. Very happy with the whole situation of you caring for my husband. My husband is always very happy and content, which puts my mind at rest.
Applewood lives up to its name - "a care home" - the staff are attentive, passionate, and provide a calm sense of caring. Mum is always treated with respect and dignity ensuring she is happy and content. Applewood is kept clean and tidy with a homely feel. Although Mum can't take full advantage of the numerous outings and activities, the staff ensure she is kept involved and engaged with as many as possible and always make time to keep her involved with what is going on. Well done, Applewood!
Mum has been at Applewood since August 2020, and I continue to be very pleased with the care she receives and feel the staff are her extended family when I am so far away, which gives me comfort. I know they encourage Mum to join in wherever possible, even though she prefers to be an observer. There have been some new staff recently, and I've been pleased to see how well she responds to them. It is lovely to be recognised by the staff when visiting and have the restriction of Covid finally lifted. Being able to enjoy a cuppa with her in the afternoon is lovely. Thank you to the Applewood team for caring for Mum.
My mother and father have been in the care of Applewood since last March. The care they have received has been exemplary. I have been kept well informed and advised. My mother has recently been very unwell, and the care and support she has received have been excellent, always with her well-being and comfort paramount. The staff are unfailingly welcoming and friendly; they all seem to enjoy their work and cannot do enough for their charges. I would highly recommend Applewood.
My husband spent Christmas and New Year in hospital with sepsis, he was very unwell for several weeks, the antibiotics did their job and reduced the infection but sadly he is now deemed end of life. The deputy manager, the manager and the amazing team bent over backwards so that he could come back to Applewood to end his days in a wonderful place where people love and care for him. It's meant the world to us.
My Father arrived at Applewood end of February 2021. It was a hard transition for all of the family. He is very settled and happy. The staff are excellent. Angels is how I would describe them. They do activities to keep everyone busy. They regularly have special visitors such as the ukulele player and singer. He is excellent at getting everyone to join in. They have a minibus and the residents regularly, when weather permits, go out for an afternoon. I think that the facilities are excellent. In the last eighteen months, it has been extremely difficult with the covid pandemic affecting everyone. Through it all, they have coped marvellously. They get thousands of stars from me. The garden is kept beautifully. The meals are well planned and varied and adjusted to suit everybody's dietary needs. Dad's clothes are always clean and fresh. He has severe dementia and is looked after by all the staff beautifully. I wouldn't want him to be anywhere else.
My father has been in Applewood for over a year now and as a family, we are very happy with the care he is receiving especially as he is not the easiest person. The staff are friendly, attentive and kind, the communication is excellent and during the pandemic, they have gone above and beyond to protect the residents and keep them entertained. It's been very difficult to have contact due to the pandemic but I am confident he is being well cared for.
I find the management and carers very friendly, and in my observation, look after residents very well.
My mother has been cared for at Applewood for over two years now and I am very pleased with her care and with the way the staff communicate with the rest of the family. This last year has been extremely difficult for all concerned but the staff have done all that they can to keep everyone safe and to facilitate visits/contacts whenever possible, subject to ever-changing Government guidelines.
