View Full Details of Pondsmead Nursing & Residential HomeFriendly, compassionate, professional staff who treated us all with respect as individuals and as a family. They accommodated Dad's needs and he has settled extremely quickly in a safe, enjoyable environment. Would highly recommend.
Mum has been in Pondsmead since 2021 and has been very happy. She has been very happy the whole time. The staff are great, so helpful and kind and they make Mum's stay really comfortable. It is such a relief to know she is in safe hands.
My husband has been a resident at Pondsmead for nearly a year now. It took a while for him to settle but now seems very content. The room he has is very nice and comfy and kept clean. The staff that take care of him, are kind and treat him with respect, they always have a smile on their face and spend time with the residents. My husband enjoys walking outside in the gardens.
Mum tells me she loves it there. The staff are friendly, the food is nice and she is enjoying the activities. She seems to have settled in better than we expected and is happy to take part in the activities on offer.
Cannot fault the care my mother-in-law is receiving. She seems a lot happier in herself since being at the home and is also a lot more active. The staff are always friendly and are keen to greet and update us.
Our Auntie moved into Pondsmead care home after spending a month in hospital where the care was not up to her complex needs, she has been there almost a month. At one stage we actually thought we would lose her but since arriving here she has completely changed as her needs are being met, we hope she will be able to stay as seems settled. The care staff have been helpful and understanding as are we as they are doing a very difficult job with her complex needs. The home is always welcoming as are the staff when we visit, and her room clean light and cheerful.
Pondsmead Care Home is an excellent, well-run care home. I have an excellent bedroom with a great view.
Friendly and caring staff. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for them. The home is situated in pleasant surroundings. My mother was reluctant to go into care, but now seems to be content and settled at Pondsmead.
My 95-year-old mother-in-law entered Pondsmead in early April. The management team and her carers have done everything possible to implement any requirements we have asked to make her new home as comfortable as possible. Her room is comfortable and homely and she now looks forward to lunch in the dining room and afternoon activities which she enjoys. She is booked in for an afternoon trip to Wells to the market and coffee etc in May and today has gone in an ambulance arranged by the home to audiologists so she is being well looked after in all aspects. Importantly the carers are performing regular exercises as directed by the physio so she may be able to walk again. This is as important for her psychologically as well as physically. The transition from life with her family is not easy but Pondsmead is trying their best and dealing well with her frustrations. Overall a big thank you to all of you for your long hours, hard work and care.
Pondsmead is a beautiful large house in a peaceful Somerset village. I have been a resident for six months and felt welcome and at home from the start. My room is warm and comfortable and overlooks part of the garden. The staff are delightful, very friendly, always cheerful and caring. The food is cooked fresh on-site every day and is always tasty. I enjoy the afternoon activities and look forward to the monthly outings during the summer months. Overall, I can truly describe my experience of living at Pondsmead as very happy and beneficial.
After viewing several nursing homes around the area, Pondsmead was our first choice. My mum-in-law moved in in August, her care has been outstanding, they have made her feel comfortable and involved, so far we are a very happy family. Thank you to all staff involved.
My aunt moved into Pondsmead in April. It was a big move for her as she lived not in the area but wanted to be closer to family. The staff went out of their way to welcome her. She has a lovely large ensuite room with a beautiful view. I feel happy that she is well cared for and I can relax in the knowledge that her medical needs are monitored. The staff and management are all very friendly and approachable.
Mum was sent to Pondsmead after a lengthy stay in hospital and limited mobility. She was very worried about going into a care home. Everyone there made her feel very welcome, the carers were super (Actually care) Everything was taken care of. Good nursing and a doctor when needed. Lovely setting in the countryside. Gradually she has become more mobile, was very sad to leave everyone at Pondsmead but a vacancy had come up at a home more local to where she lived. I think that she still keeps in touch with those that she had befriended.
My mother was admitted with a terminal condition in September 2022 and was made very welcome from the start immediately attending a musical session. The staff are very friendly and helpful and have been from day one. Mum's from is more than adequate for her needs. Thankfully, Mum is still with us and is enjoying her stay at Pondsmead, especially the numerous activities. All in all, a positive with reassuring management and staff.
My mum has been a resident in Pondsmead since September 2021. The care of the staff has been wonderful. The way in which staff get to know residents is lovely to see, and the very low turnover of staff has meant my mum has received consistent care from staff who knew her well. Staff are always observant of privacy - never walking into a room without knocking first - so respectful. One of the standout features for both of us has been the activities coordinator here and all the work she tirelessly and enthusiastically does to ensure stimulating, relevant and interesting events, activities, outings, one-to-one time with different residents, acts of worship, pottery, animals being brought in for residents to hold - the programme is first class and Pondsmead should be extremely proud of their commitment to residents in this area. The ethos of the home is to accommodate a variety of ages and mobility of residents - Mum, at a young 66, settled in really well.
My grandpa was in Pondsmead for over 6 months. He was looked after by very kind staff and he built up some good relationships. When I visited I was made to feel welcome. He had a lovely room and he was fed very well, he really loved the food there especially the home made puddings! The staff went over and beyond to make him happy.
My dear Mum was transferred to Pondsmead Nursing Home on 25.4.22 from hospital. Mum required nursing care. On arrival, Mum asked her nurse where her husband was? I was shocked by the nurse's reply, she told Mum "this is your home now". I was so upset when the nurse told me this, my poor Mum should have been told that her husband was coming to see her the next day as he was. My Dad is also very upset by the nurse's comment. How absolutely awful to tell someone with vascular dementia this. I would always explain to Mum any changes, which I did but of course, sometimes she would forget. I don't feel my Mum was cared for correctly during her very short stay, by the 1.5.22 she was rushed back to hospital in an ambulance. She was extremely dehydrated when I arrived, (only hours later) her diabetes had not been controlled at all. This home hadn't cared for my dear Mum in the way we had hoped, care standards fall far below any Mum received within the NHS.
Stunning location with fantastic facilities, and wonderful staff. The manager was always incredibly welcoming to us when we arrived and gave honest feedback on how my friend was doing. I can not recommend this care home enough.
It's very good, takes care of all my needs. The manager is very helpful and the staff are very understanding and caring.
I am very happy with Pondsmead - it is always clean and always well organised. The staff are all lovely, polite, friendly and kind. The same staff have been there since my mum arrived a year ago; which is always a good sign. My mum has been well looked after and treated with dignity, care and love.
