View Full Details of Oaklands Nursing HomeMy Mother's room is spacious and comfortable. There has been a lot of building works going on but these are almost complete and the new balcony and garden will be a lovely asset in the Summer. The staff are friendly and go out of their way to ensure the residents are comfortable and happy. The Manager and Deputy Manager are always very responsible to any queries or concerns I have and keep me fully informed. Visitors are welcomed at any time and there is a warm, informal atmosphere. I work as a Health Professional myself and am very aware of how difficult working in this sector is , but Oaklands have made a marked improvement in my mum's general health and well-being. I found the idea of placing my mum in a Nursing Home very difficult, and I looked around at a number of homes but feel I made the .right choice with Oaklands, and am relaxed that my mum is well cared for.
My mum has been a resident at Oaklands Nursing Home for a few months now and I can't imagine her receiving better care anywhere else. My mum lived with me for nearly 3 years and the thought of handing over her care to someone else was a big concern for me. After visiting the home to take a look around and speak to the manager I was in no doubt that my mum would be cared for in a way that would give me peace of mind. When Oaklands agreed they would be able to offer a home to my mum it was a huge relief, I knew she would be in the best possible place, receiving the best possible care. This has proved to be the case and I am very grateful to all the wonderful staff who look after my mum and make me feel so welcome when I visit. Thank you.
I spent quite a bit of time at Oaklands during the last days of my friend's life and got to know the team there. They were brilliant. Every person I met: the manager, the carers, the nurses and all the support staff were friendly, engaged, caring and just perfect. Good care is not about the fixtures and fittings, it is about the people inside and I would highly recommend Oaklands to anyone considering a home-from-home for their loved one.
Whenever I visit my mum, the staff seem very caring and respectful. Mum's food is blended and her care is first-rate. All the staff are happy and answer any concerns I may have. Just keep on what you're doing.
From what I have seen the staff are amazing, the home is always clean and today, as are the residents, I know that the staff play games and keep residents amused. Thank you for the care you give my mum.
This is the second time we have used this wonderful nursing home. The first was for my Father who was cared for here for two years until his death. The love, care and attention to detail were astounding. 5 years on we have had to find respite for my mother-in-Law. She has been in Oaklands now for 2 months and is absolutely loving her stay. Her independence is completely respected but yet invaluable care has been provided. A testimony to this wonderful place is the fact that from when I last used this facility for my dad practically every member of staff remains. This shows that the staff are well treated and looked after and enjoy their work. This is so very important in this line of work. The home has a high level of cleanliness and the food is cooked freshly every day by their wonderful chef. I honestly can't recommend this home enough.
Oaklands is a lovely clean, calm, happy, welcoming home. The large team of staff are caring and professional, led by an excellent manager. They communicate very well with each other and with me; I'm always confident that Mum's needs are being met promptly and in the best way possible. The rooms are large and well-decorated. In spring, the new extension will open, and we're looking forward to this, Oaklands will be a bit bigger and, I'm sure, even better. The garden is also a big asset. Mum enjoys the regular activities such as exercise classes, music recitals and guest singers, residents feel welcome to join in as it suits them, and help is always respectfully at hand. Family members are always welcome. I'm very happy to have found Oaklands; it's a testament to the skill and knowledge of the manager and staff that Mum is settling in so well.
My mother has been an Oaklands Nursing Home resident since August 2023, and we are so glad we found this lovely home for her. We looked at a number of other homes prior to Mother leaving hospital, and there was nowhere else we’d have been happy to send her. She is so well cared for by the excellent staff, whose kindness, friendliness and humour have made us feel like part of the Oaklands family. Everyone is 100% dedicated and we feel sure they are happy to work there. The place is always fresh and clean, odour free. There is some building work going on at the moment, but any disruption has been kept minimal. The public rooms and areas are beautifully appointed and very spacious. Mother’s room is pretty and welcoming. We can visit at any time; we often go at mealtimes to help feed her, but staff will gently do it if not. The food is suitable for her needs (she is approaching end of life) and there’s always flexibility if she’d prefer ice cream! Management staff are brilliant - efficient and sensitive.
I and my family feel very fortunate that my mother is at Oaklands Nursing Home, she has been there since the summer. All the staff, without exception, are wonderfully caring and considerate and this care is also extended to the family. The welcome is always warm and friendly and the atmosphere is happy and homely yet very professional. The main living room/dining room is very large and exceptionally bright. I can only speak for my mother’s bedroom but it is very comfortable, prettily decorated and has an en-suite toilet and wash basin. I must mention that as my mother went to Oaklands straight from hospital, the manager and the deputy manager visited her to get to know her a little and ask about her likes and dislikes. When I think of my mother’s time at Oaklands I just know she is in the right place, with a team of very kind and dedicated people.
Oaklands is a wonderful place. Above all the staff are very special and couldn’t have done more for my father. They provided a safe warm and comfortable environment, even in his last days he lit up when they were around him. They are an incredible team. Everything we asked was done straight away and my father was happy. The bedroom and lounge are sunny and uplifting and as a family we were welcomed day and night. We are so grateful to them for their incredible care and kindness.
My Dad was moved into Oaklands from the hospital for palliative care, the support and care he has from all the staff is exceptional. As a family, we are always made welcome and they have talked to us about each stage of his ongoing care and pain control. Oaklands has given my Dad his dignity and us the chance of quality time with him.
Oaklands is a very friendly, welcoming nursing home. All the staff are so helpful, always cheerful and smiling. My mother-in-law receives the best care I could ask for. They take care of all her needs, and she appears happy. I couldn't ask for any more.
I received exactly the watchful care that I needed, help when required but otherwise left me to rest and eat good food. All the staff were cheerful and kind. My room was pleasant and comfortable. After respite, I was able to come home and be independent where I am now and am continuing my recovery.
My father has been at Oaklands since January and is now very settled. It's a huge change moving into a home and having to adapt to a change of circumstances, but we felt very supported by Oaklands staff throughout. The home is small and runs with a family atmosphere which makes it ideal for my father, who still enjoys chatting and having good relationships with the staff. Medically, they have been across all of his complex needs and spot problems and act on them very efficiently. They have great relationships with the local doctors and pharmacy, and care is delivered seamlessly. The home has been going threw a lot of renovations, which has at times, been a bit frustrating as the builders kept missing deadlines. However, the new lounge is beautiful, and I am sure when the garden and new block open, they will also be of the highest standard. The staff make Oaklands, and there is a very high retention rate. The home is full of laughter, and they do their best at all times.
My father was a resident at Oaklands Nursing Home for the past three years while he faced a gradual decline from Alzheimer's. My sister and I are so grateful for the excellent care he received from all the staff. What meant most to us was the genuine affection they obviously had for him and for the kindness he was shown at such a challenging time of his life. Oaklands handled his last days with dignity, offering sensitive support to us as a grieving family. The high-quality principles and ethics of the excellent management clearly set the tone of the caring ethos at Oaklands and I am so pleased it is where Dad was able to spend his final years.
I cannot recommend Oklands highly enough. The manager and all the staff are professional, friendly, kind and caring. Oaklands has a homely atmosphere and is a lovely environment to visit. Dad has been so well looked after for the past three years, which has been a blessing, giving us, as a family, peace of mind and the opportunity to make some wonderful memories. Placing Dad in the care of Okalands has been the best decision we could have made.
Lovely home, so nice and clean. The staff are very welcoming when we visit my mum. The food is excellent; also, they have lots of activities for the residents to do. The atmosphere in the home is really nice and relaxing. The manager is a really nice lady and manages the home really well. I wish when I get older that Oaklands Home would be the place I'd like to be.
Clean, tidy, friendly staff and the way they treat their residents is one hundred per cent. I hope when I get old, they can find a place for me, and the manager always makes you welcome.
During my two week stay at Oaklands I was treated with kindness (most important when you are feeling vulnerable) and respect. I was put on a suitable diet for my condition which helped considerably and was always consulted about my food on a meal to no meal basis. The management staff were helpful in many ways. If I had to stay in a care home again, Oaklands is where I would want to be.
A professionally run and caring home with staff that demonstrate that they want to do the best for the patient. The Oaklands team have maintained an excellent communication with me (as I live over 500 miles away) and supported my aunt extremely professionally enabling me to make the right decisions with their support. I visit the home at least twice a year to meet the team and check in face to face with my aunt. Both my aunt and I are very happy with the quality and care they provide.
