Barchester Hugh Myddelton House Care Home has been wonderful for my mum, we definitely chose the best place for her to be. All the staff are very friendly, happy people who care for my mother's needs without us needing to worry. There is always some kind of entertainment being arranged or sometimes a pub lunch. My mum was very ill, on her deathbed in a hospice before coming to Hugh Myddelton, they have cared for her so well that she is now able to return back to her own home full-time. We really appreciate all their help in the last six months. Thank you!
Excellent care, homely environment, great facilities, wonderful staff, great food and entertainment/activities, visitors made welcome as well as relatives of past residents, individuals needs are catered for, it’s like one big happy family here in Hugh Myddelton, the garden is a real haven with various birds, squirrels, snails and slugs (they pinch the bird feed).
All the staff are so patient and friendly and always on hand for any questions. We always feel confident that our sister is being well cared for and everything is being done to make her as comfortable as possible.
My mum, who had advanced dementia, spent her last month at Hugh Myddelton after leaving the hospital after a fall. The care she received was wonderful. It was a fairly confusing time for all of our family and the discharge from the hospital felt pretty disorganized. However, the staff were amazing in making sure that everything was in place for her arrival and helped to settle her in very well. Everyone was friendly, respectful, and caring - Mum was made comfortable and I could see that she felt relaxed, even though she was not able to talk. After the fall her medical needs were much greater and were completely catered for. I would like to say a special thank you to the unit leader, who took the time to talk with me when Mum first arrived. On the morning that Mum died, everyone was so kind and gave me space to just sit and pray. Thank you.
The nurses are fantastic, they go above and beyond to care for their residents. They celebrate special occasions for the residents, like decorating the dining room for Valentine's Day. Everyone is friendly and approachable. I have witnessed nurses first hand getting antibiotics delivered the same day for their patients even though the pharmacy they use doesn't offer this same-day delivery. They make it happen.
My husband spent 5 months in the hospital and 1 month in the rehabilitation unit. He came here (Hugh Myddelton) in May 2023. At Hugh Myddelton House his needs are being met considering he is paralysed. I would recommend High Myddelton House for anyone who needs care, be it dementia or other illnesses.
My 98-year-old mother-in-law with dementia needs 24-hour care after a series of falls. We are extremely pleased with the care she gets at Barchester Hugh Myddelton House Care Home. Staff have clearly got to know her as a person and centre her care around that, which is amazing. Mother-in-law is always very concerned about appearance and she is still extremely well turned out and even with varnished nails and a new hairstyle every time we see her. Hugh Myddelton House takes her to medical appointments too. I particularly appreciate the presence of nursing staff because caring with dementia is challenging and I think nursing staff bring a lot of expertise. I feel confident knowing Mother-in-law is being much better looked after than I could manage myself.
My father is a current resident at the home and was discharged there from the hospital. Prior to deciding that a nursing home was the right place for him, my husband and I were shown around by two ladies, one of whom took the time to sit and discuss my dad's needs with me. They both provided me with reassurance, kindness and empathy for the big decision that we would be making. My dad had a fairly chaotic discharge from the hospital, however, the general manager and staff were amazing in making sure that everything was in place when he eventually arrived and helped to settle him (and me) when he did. I have nothing but praise and admiration for all of the staff. Everyone is friendly, respectful and obviously cares for the residents - they work hard and include the residents in activities or just chat with them. My dad’s nursing needs are completely catered for and any issues are seamlessly dealt with by the qualified staff there. I’m confident that this is the right place for him.
My dad has been in Barchester Hugh Myddelton House Care Home for the last four and a half years and is very happy. My mum sadly was diagnosed with dementia earlier this year and is also now a resident. The care they receive is excellent and is a comfort to the family that they are being well cared for. Thank you to all the staff and the nurses.
Posting this review after a short stay for my father. Very impressed with the entire care and support team for being so caring and professional in looking after my father who has high needs. His meds were administered precisely and his food and hydration levels were scrutinised with precision. Encouragement was given in eating and a high level of personal care and respect was given in a challenging service user. Very impressed overall given the challenging needs and short stay and would definitely use it again. Respect and courtesy was always evident.
My mother enjoys the garden and the activities. The staff are always friendly and helpful. We like being able to visit my mother without having to arrange the visit with staff. We like that the residents are taken out on visits.
My husband came to Barchester Hugh Myddelton House Care Home after a stroke and brain haemorrhage for nursing care. I could not be more grateful to all of the staff for the outstanding care my husband has received since he came here. Everyone is so positive and empathetic and throughout this hard time they have taken care of our whole family, not just my husband. I have gotten to know many of the residents and their relatives and you quickly become part of the extended family. I know when I am not here that my husband is truly cared for as a person as well as a patient. A big thank you to everyone at Hugh Myddleton.
My mother moved to Barchester Hugh Myddelton House Care Home in April from hospital and was there until she passed away in August. I was very impressed by all aspects of the home. It was very well run. It was a beautiful environment, lovely garden, little cafe area, good food and most importantly, kind and caring staff. It always felt calm and peaceful. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for nursing care.
Very friendly and helpful staff.
