View Full Details of Croftbank HouseMy sister has just completed her six month review, having moved into Croftbank in July24. Like many I'm sure, we her family worried how she would adapt to her new life having lived alone in her own house for some years. No need to worry. She often volunteers that she is so happy in her new surroundings. She loves her little room with so many of her own things around her. Her door is open much of the time so that everyone who passes by can say hello and they do. She made friends immediately and they visit each other, share a dining table and go to activities and outings together. and at the end of the day she can close the door and cosy down with her TV. She has wi-fi so her family can chat to her - different folks every day on video calls (a boon for those with dementia). She just loves all the foods so beautifully cooked - old favourites and try something new. Wishlist-Shower in her room. All the staff are first class, friendly, welcoming and supportive of us too. What a relief.
My mum went into Croftbank House in August 2024 and she settled very quickly and has been very settled ever since. She is treated extremely well by all members of staff who are very attentive to her needs. As her daughter, it is very comforting to see her and to know she's safe and getting the best care suited to her needs. Many thanks.
Our family is so happy that our mother is a resident at Croftbank. She is very happy there and the staff are very attentive and caring. We have some experience of other care homes and there is no doubt that Croftbank is one of the best in the region. The new home manager is determined to improve things further through greater involvement of the families which is a fantastic initiative and we wish her well.
My mum has only been in for a couple of weeks but the staff have been very welcoming and supportive to both Mum and my family. The whole process has been straightforward and I'm happy with the care she is receiving.
The care home staff were very caring and gentle with my mother - who was not always easy to deal with or good at mixing. The staff always treated her with great care and dignity. She was a resident for two years and the family always felt she was safe and well cared for.
My mum is very happy there. Both Mum and myself have been treated with respect and friendliness. I am kept up to date with any health concerns or issues. I consider it to be a cosy, friendly, loving place and all credit to the management and staff.
My mum has been here for nearly two years now, and it was due to Mum's condition that she was unfortunately not able to stay at home on her own. Since being here, my mum has flourished in herself, her confidence has grown, care is second to none, and most staff know my mum personally and can tell me what she's been up to. The daily activities are fantastic, and residents are encouraged to take part; there is a wide variety of things to do, but Friday is a favourite as there is entertainment on, and they love the live music. I know that Mum does, for sure, kick her legs in her wheelchair - she still joins in. The surroundings are super clean and homely, and the staff take pride in this. The food is also super, and encouragement from staff to help residents who may need support is on hand. Staff are approachable and helpful to speak to with any inquiries or concerns that you may have. My family have been very happy at the change for our mum as she is super secure, relaxed, well looked after, and her needs met.
My parent is well cared for by all the staff at Croftbank House. They all know her and call her by her name and treat her respectfully at all times. If I have had any concerns regarding my parent these have been dealt with in a professional and timely manner by the staff. They keep me updated on any changes in my parent's health. I am very happy with the level of care she receives.
I always find the staff very friendly and approachable. They keep me informed on all levels of my mother's care. I am very happy with the care my mother is given. I appreciate all they do for mum and let me know if she has any needs such as clothes and toiletries.
ALL staff, clerical and nursing, are extremely caring, helpful and kind and cheerful at all times and can't do enough to make the residents and family comfortable and welcome, especially during the most difficult and distressing time of Covid.
This review relates to the period of covid19 virus. On 10th March, the care home manager held a relatives meeting to update us on action already taken and proposed actions. This gave me confidence that the home was well prepared. A few days later, the home went into lockdown. Although the separation has been very difficult, it has been made so much easier by excellent communication with the home and group management. My Mother is very deaf and partially sighted so direct communication is not possible, but despite how busy the staff are, when I phone, they take time to update me and assure me that she is fine and settled. The Facebook group demonstrate the efforts that staff have made to keep the residents entertained and provides a valuable link for relatives. Management and staff have gone above and beyond under very stressful conditions, and I will be forever grateful for their dedication. So relieved that there were no virus cases.
Looks fantastic. Not all that seems. Definitely nursing care. Not residential. Continuous room alarms going all the time. Mum stressed all the time there. Not the care I would expect and moved to a better home in less than 2 weeks.
My mother has been in Croftbank for three and a half years and I am very happy with the care she receives. Her condition has changed and the staff always keep me informed and consulted me about any changes they think would be good for her. They always phone if my mum has had any issues or is upset and requires any extra visits from me. All the staff including care, kitchen, laundry and activities are very friendly and like relatives to speak to them, helping them to place residents with relatives. There are activities on every day and special occasions where relatives are encouraged to join in with bingo nights, party nights like Halloween, Easter and Christmas, where we have a great time with all the residents who are fit enough to attend. Relatives meetings are held every three months so we can be kept up to date with things that are going on. More relatives need to attend these meetings, as they concern them and their relatives, as we are encouraged at these meetings to give any ideas or concerns too.
Majority of staff are good but there are some individuals who should not be in this role. There is clearly a staff shortage. Delays in answering buzzers. This isn't acceptable when someone needs the toilet. More routine at bedtimes. During the day she seems to be left sitting in the lounge on her wheelchair which isn't comfortable for her. There are no points of contact for us. You don't know who to speak to about something or are given regular updates. It really depends on who you speak to if things are done. One nurse has been excellent who arranged a 24hour turnaround for her hearing aid repair. Other promises of doctors visit about her eyes have never come to fruition. There should be a monthly update with a point of contact to discuss what's going well and any concerns. Mum has said the food is excellent and she is showered regularly and her hygiene is clearly being looked after. I know this sounds negative but the reputation for this home hadn't lived up to our expectations
