My mother became a resident at the Elms following a respite period. She adjusted to this quite easily and was able to have a laugh and joke with the staff. Her room was clean and had a door opening out into a private garden area. A high standard of care was given to her needs at all times. December 2024 proved to be worrying for both our family and the staff. Her breathing was a problem but I was kept informed of her condition during day or night time if needed. Two short stays in the hospital resulted in a return to the Elms where she had further care. Her life ended peacefully during her sleep in mid January 2025. I would recommend The Elms to anyone based on my mother's and my own experience. The staff do care.
Mum has only been a resident of The Elms for a few months due to her previous care home closing down. She has been welcomed with open arms by all the staff here (as we as relatives have also). Mum is very well cared for and is kept well entertained. The food is of a very high standard and mum said it's the best porridge she has ever tasted. It's definitely a thumbs up for us for The Elms.
My mum is a resident at the Elms Sutton she can't walk now after fracturing her hip. We thought she was at the end of life but after the care here has has become stronger. All the staff are great and she has really taken to two of them and laughs and jokes with them. The way they interact with her is amazing. I would say that the carers actually care.
My gran has been at The Elms for around 6 months now and we couldn't be happier. From the start, the care has been second to none. The staff couldn't be more attentive and kind not only to my gran but to us as a family and it doesn't go unnoticed to the other residents. The home is bright and very beautifully decorated following the refurb over the past few months and the buzz from everyone reminds us why we chose The Elms. The food, the cleanliness and the activity provision are fabulous. Thank you to everyone at The Elms for looking after Gran like she is one of your own. I couldn't recommend it more.
The staff were kind, helped us when they could, always pleasant. It's nice being looked after by them.
The staff are very kind and helpful and look after us in this establishment. The food is good and I like living here.
It is very pleasant living here. The staff are friendly and kind and try to help you in any way they can.
My wife entered The Elms end of February 2019. I find her care is reassuringly consistent, staff and management have always shown kindness and understanding both to me and her in contact over the phone or in person. There is good communication which aids any problem or misunderstandings that may occur. I know that my wife is in good hands.
The lady who cared for me put me at my ease. She is worth her weight in gold. I hope she is appreciated by all of her residents and her employer. She is one in a million. I am very fortunate that she tended to me. Many thanks
Under the present owners and new manager, things were not good from the start. The manager was unresponsive. Some staff spoke very derogatorily of my father and no one seemed to listen to our concerns about his ulcerated feet. Subsequently, they became infected and he ended up in A&E. The manager had started to make some attempts to accommodate our wishes but it was too little too late. We found the whole outfit shrouded in secrecy with no information given to the family regarding my father's health issues even though we have LPA over his health. When the boiler broke down we were made to visit him in the freezing conservatory where my father was shivering. At no point did anyone ever inform us we could go into the lounge. We hadn't set foot in there since before the pandemic. After complaining, their response was that we could have gone into the lounge! I would definitely not recommend this care home.
The staff at the Elms are always cheerful, friendly and attentive to both residents and visitors. Mum always seems content and happy.
My Mum spent 15 months as a Resident at The Elms. The Carers are amazing. I visited my Mum very regularly and was always welcomed by the Carers, who were always happy and extremely helpful. Nothing was ever too much trouble for them. When my Mum became very ill, the care and compassion she was shown by the Carers was second to none. Unfortunately, Mum is no longer with us, but I am so pleased she was cared for by the wonderful staff at The Elms. I have no reservations in highly recommending The Elms.
The Elms is a fantastic place. As always, we are greeted with friendly, helpful and 'smiley' staff. My mum has Alzheimer's and is unable to communicate very well but always appears to be happy and settled in her surroundings. The staff are always there to help move Mum if we require somewhere private as she has very limited mobility. My mum always seems happy and that makes me happy!
My mother has settled into the care home. The staff are all very helpful and very pleasant, her room is nice and we have no problems at all. It's nice to know that she is in a lovely environment and she has well looked after.
The home is clean, doesn't smell and the staff are very approachable, no problems at all.
My relative was in for more than 6 years in The Elms. He was very well looked after and the care he received was nothing but kindness from all the staff. He passed away recently with the dignity he deserved. I have nothing but praise for this home and its staff.
My mum is 97 years old and has been a resident at The Elms for two and a half years. Prior to this, she lived at home with my father with support from local care workers. Whilst at home my mother suffered from severe depression and slept most of the day and night. She was visited by psychiatric nurses on a regular basis and even a psychiatrist. Since she became a resident in The Elms we have seen a significant improvement in her mental and physical state. She is generally bright and cheerful and even knits. She eats well, gets plenty of fluids. She looks forward to the hairdresser visiting every week, her room is bright, clean and tidy. She gets visits from the dentist, chiropodist and opticians as necessary. Overall I am happy with her care.
The Elms care home is very nice and clean. Staff are very good. Food was very good up to a month ago when we were having a light or buffet meal. I prefer a gravy meal at lunchtime, not as an evening meal. My only complaint.
The Elms is a homely, comfortable house in a lovely location. All visitors are made to feel welcome. The residents are treated at all times with respect and consideration. They are clean and have a good regime. Not rushed at all. The meals are good. The bedrooms are comfy and neat. My mum lived here for 3 years before her recent death. She was happy and I feel she had the best care available to her.
Mum's first experience of The Elms was in respite (2011/2012) and then as a resident from 2013 until her demise in September this year (2018). We found lots of love, care and attention from the start, the tenderness and consideration Mum was given was exemplary, her room was clean and the food was excellent, we ate there so can say from experience, we also found it to be very nutritious. The carers always went the extra mile and were considerate to both resident and relative alike, they gave lots of support through some difficult times. Overall I would like to say a big thank you.
