View Full Details of Harestane Care HomeI cannot thank this care home enough for the care and treatment they provided my gran. They went above and beyond for her and really engaged her within the home. Not only did they treat her with the utmost respect but they welcomed my family with open arms. Nothing was too big of an ask and they meet all her needs with no hesitation. Harestane is a beautiful care home with loving staff and is such a credit to priority care. The manager is outstanding and it really does show within her work!
Sadly Mum passed in April 2024 after spending 15 happy months in Harestane Nursing Home. The staff and management team looked after Mum in a respectful manner and she settled in with no problem. We were always welcomed at Harestane and the staff knew us all as family. We would be consulted and updated if Mum required medical treatment and we would discuss what would be best for her. Mum would take part in activities such as exercise class, and arts and crafts and when the musicians came along. She enjoyed the sing-along and loved to dance. The support we as a family received when Mum was in her final days was second to none. We would highly recommend this nursing home to anyone looking to have their loved ones cared for. All staff and management are credited to Priority Care.
My mum has been in Harestane since November 2023. I cannot praise the staff enough. My mum has complex medical issues and can be very difficult sometimes. The staff are amazing. Real living angels. They take excellent care of her and all the residents. They are always very polite and courteous. The service, food, attention to detail, activities and events are more like a five-star holiday than a care home. It gives me a great sense of peace to know my mum is safe and very well cared for. The management team do an amazing job in running the home. It is always spotless and as a visitor, I always feel very welcome at any time. The communication with the staff is excellent. I am always kept up to date with everything regarding my mum's care. In reality, words cannot truly express the gratitude and admiration that I have towards the staff. They are wonderful real-life angels.
I feel the hard of hearing could be considered more, subtitles on TV, menus on tables (which were there for a short time) church service or entertainment, placed in a position where they can hear what's going on, making sure if asked a question they are understanding it. I have witnessed in an art activity that my relative was at a table facing the wall and the activity was going on behind them. I have rarely seen anyone sitting and having a conversation with my relative and don't know if they really know anything about them.
My mother passed away on 1/1/24 after six years of the best care I could have wished for her. The staff were like a second family for us, nothing was too much trouble and my Mum was content and well looked after. I would have no hesitation in recommending this care home and in fact, have already done so several times. The manager and her staff are an example of how care should be delivered.
I can't talk highly enough about the loving quality care and attention my dad received at Harestane. The management team and staff were excellent and professional at all times. Always approachable and willing to assist Dad in any way. Living abroad it was such a great comfort knowing Dad was being cared for in a wonderful facility like Harestane.
My mother has now been in Harestane for 2 years. It was a difficult time for her (and us) for the 1st year but with the support, love, perseverance and extreme patience from the manager and mum's carers, she has now settled in well. The facilities of lounge areas, inside and outside are excellent and there is always somewhere to go and socialise, albeit my mother needs to be encouraged to use all the facilities and the way the manager and staff do this is really appreciated. The appointment of an activities coordinator has worked well and great to see the events that are being planned and so enjoyed by the residents and families. The staff know my mum very well (and me) and I have no worries about her care, it's great to know that they closely watch for changes in behaviour. They follow up quickly on any concerns from them, mum and family and keep us posted. I know difficult to arrange but I'd love to see Mum have a 'bestie' to socialise with/watch TV etc, not sure that's possible for you
I hold the service and support from all the staff at Harestanes in very high regard. The care they gave my mother, professionalism, and humour were second to none. I was informed both day and night of any problems with my mother, whether it was a fall or she was ill, not eating, nothing was left out. There were plenty of activities and menus for all the residents. Thank you for everything.
Have had a number of residents here over the last 15 years and always found staff to be helpful, caring and professional. Well run home guided by the watchful, experienced manager who runs a tight ship and is always approachable if any concerns.
I cannot praise all of the staff's efforts and their genuine care and attention enough, the recent 5-6 grading from the care commission fully reflects the staff and the management's combined efforts across the care home, the activities that the staff put on is absolutely excellent and the attention to detail for each of the residents is second to none. The home and the staff have looked after my mum exceptionally during the Covid period, the care and attention with the dedication of all staff satisfies our needs. The manager and the staff are second to none, I wish them every future success.
Overall I'm very happy with the care my husband receives. I find the staff really lovely, very kind and caring. The garden and grounds are beautifully kept and a pleasure to sit in. The interior of the home is very well maintained. The use of the pool would be a massive plus. The room is quite small, especially with using a hoist and a large wheelchair. The menu is varied and the food excellent but there could be a bigger selection of soft options.
My mother has been a resident at Harestane for 18 months now, she was very fortunate to be able to find a vacancy here after a 6-month spell in hospital because of poor health very late in life at the age of 91. I cannot thank Maggie and her team enough for turning my mother's confused and frightened outlook around and into one of stability. By being shown kindness and patience, the experience of the staff gave her the time she needed to overcome her adjustment to not being at home with my father and getting used to her new surroundings. When I see my mother now, her cognitive and physical decline has slowed down to a level where there is very little change month on month, a vast improvement in her outlook at admission. The staff have been fantastic with my mum and have returned her to her old self! I cannot imagine there being anywhere better than Harestane to provide the care and round-the-clock attention my mum deserves. Once again thank you to the manager and all of your dedicated staff.
It is one of the most difficult decisions you ever have to make when you entrust the responsibility for the care of someone you love to someone else. After much consideration, I chose Harestane as the place to care for my mother. I can honestly say the care she is receiving is exceptional. Maggie, the manager, is committed to delivering the best service for all the residents in her care and I have observed how the staff respond to her lead. There is a very calm, happy and friendly atmosphere in the care home. The lounges are bright and spacious and the daily activities are varied, stimulating and well-planned. I can see how the support and stimulation provided by the staff have improved my mother's quality of life. I am very happy to have chosen Harestane for her.
Staff are excellent and very caring with both the physical and mental needs of our mum. The introduction of a snack trolley is a great idea. Day trips on a Friday afternoon are welcomed. Management is first class and communication is spot on. The introduction of Rise on a Thursday afternoon has helped Mum greatly and she loves joining in all the activities. We never worry about leaving Mum knowing she is in the best place and receiving the best care. Thank you all.
My mother has been in Harestane for over 14 months now and we have found the care outstanding. I have found the medical staff excellent and nothing is ever a bother to them. A particular member of staff, alongside others, has been outstanding with their care and knowledge towards my mum. Another member of staff also is an absolute rock to Harestane and I have found her approach to my mum again outstanding alongside being exceptionally professional, kind, caring, very supportive, and goes over and above her role! - one in a million!
We have no issues whatsoever. Our loved one is always well cared for and their needs are met fully. The staff know our loved one extremely well and ensure that they have the best quality of life. They keep us well informed should any issues arrive and are always available to answer any questions we may have.
My uncle chose this Home himself and was lucky enough to get a room. The highlight of Harestane is the beautifully kept gardens with plentiful seating areas which gives a nice outlook from the rooms for those unable to get out. There are lounges for visiting families to take their loved ones rather than sitting in the bedrooms if they wish. Although my uncle prefers not to take part in activities he is looking forward to an outing later this week. All staff are approachable and helpful as is the Manager, and the Administrator. .
My wee granny has been a resident here for nearly a decade. We have got to know many staff and residents and have been happy with the consistent care on offer. We take comfort in the Care Inspectorates annual assessment of the care on offer, which has consistently sat at 5-very good and is currently rated 6-excellent. This is exceptionally difficult to achieve given the widely known challenges of the care industry. Dementia is an emotionally difficult journey for us all to cope with, but we have found staff and the manager have always been genuine in their support towards us and importantly our loved one. We're kept informed and included in all decisions and are indeed welcome to join in celebrations and social activities that are on. The home has had the same friendly and efficient cleaners for a long time, who keep the place immaculate. Staff may come and go, however the love, hard work and determination of the Manager that keeps this place going. Thank you all for all that you do!
Mum has been in Harestane for a year now. She is happy and content with a nice sunny room which is kept spotlessly clean (as is the en-suite toilet). We have been able to personalise her room with family photos and other memorabilia. Bedding is changed daily as are her clothes which are immaculately laundered. She loves the food and menus have recently been updated. The staff are kind and helpful and she is well looked after with a good range of group activities, concerts, and parties if she chooses to join them, as well as one-to-one attention. She has her hair done every week and enjoys that very much. Staff also manicured and painted her nails on occasion. The manager and her staff work hard to make family members feel welcome, providing tea and biscuits in the family lounge and helping us organise birthday celebrations for Mum. Any issues raised are attended to promptly and staff keep me well informed. The staff turnover is relatively low and so mum now knows many of them very well.
In need of renovation. The staff are compassionate but more required as spread too thin. Requires a handyman on site. Wheelchairs in poor condition. The blinds are broken. Windows need replacing. Very little stimulus for residents as staff do not have the time. Cleanliness needs to be improved.
