View Full Details of Bryden HouseMy dad moved in here in September 2024. I was a bit worried as he had lived with me, his daughter, for years before spending nine months in different hospitals. I need not have worried, as soon as Dad was met at the door, he said he was welcomed and taken to his room to settle in. I went the next day to see him and I was welcomed by every member of staff I came in contact with, they are so friendly. It has been five months to date and he has been very poorly for some of this time, the staff have been nothing but caring to him, they have kept his dignity at all times, they take the time to listen to his needs. I have been kept informed at all stages. The home has a welcoming atmosphere and all the staff are always at hand, even when they are very busy. The home could benefit from sprucing up a bit as decor is a little tired. I would recommend Bryden House to anyone for their loved ones.
My husband was at Bryden House for respite in December 2021, as I was away for a period and could not see to him. My husband was well looked after. The staff were very friendly and caring. The food was good, catered to my husband’s requests. He looked forward to his chats with the activities person.
Mother was admitted mid-May and from the moment she arrived, she was made to feel welcome. The management couldn't do enough. The Deputy Manager has been a godsend fighting mom's corner and making sure she wasn't sent home too early.
My mother, who has mobility problems, stayed here for a 2 week period of respite and due to the poor standard of care, we removed her early from the home. She contracted a urine infection whilst she was there and it took six days to get medication. As a result of this, she needed to go to the toilet more frequently than usual. She repeatedly called for staff assistance but they were extremely slow to respond. One day she had to wait over an hour and a half to be taken to the toilet. When the staff arrived, she was told 'You are not a resident here!' The food was of poor standard, unappealing with few vegetables, during one week fish and chips were served 3 times. The home appeared to be understaffed and whilst some of the personnel were caring the majority seemed to be uninterested. The majority of patients were kept in their beds or rooms and we were told by one staff member they got them ready for bed at 4.30pm. I wouldn't recommend this home to anyone who cares about their loved ones.
Mum was admitted to Bryden House for end of life care ,expecting to be there for a few days. She spent 9 happy months there. She was well looked after and the care she received was attentive and compassionate . Everyone of the staff was friendly and administered to her needs with dignity. Mum herself frequently told us how content she felt. We found the staff caring and knowledgeable . Nothing was too much trouble for them and no matter when we visited everyone was most welcoming.
