View Full Details of The Cedars Nursing HomeMy father moved to The Cedars for palliative care and was there for 33 days. Having a terminal diagnosis was initially hard for Dad to deal with and at times this showed in his behaviour. The calm atmosphere at The Cedars allowed Dad to reflect and come to terms with his situation. It was such a relief to the family that he had that opportunity to have all his needs met and be in a peaceful environment before he passed away at the start of this year. The staff were so kind to Dad, arranged so much supportive care and kept us informed about everything. They were also lovely after Dad had passed away - which helped a lot. Extremely thankful that The Cedars were there when we needed them, thank you to everyone involved in his care.
I shall always remember the care and kindness that my mother received in her final months. It brought us all happiness and made her passing that much easier to bear. She had a lovely big room with beautiful views of the countryside, a place of peace at a difficult time. She was loved and treated with dignity and respect, as were we, a huge relief to us. Nothing was too much trouble, and we knew that she was safe and cared for. Heartfelt thanks to all at The Cedars.
My Mum had a month's respite stay at The Cedars during work on her bungalow. We visited a number of care homes before settling on The Cedars and from the moment we entered both myself and my mother both remarked what a lovely relaxed feel there was to the care home. The manager and her team couldn't have been more helpful. Mum had a beautiful room on the ground floor in the older part of the house which was spacious, had an en-suite shower room and was very well furnished. It looked out onto beautiful countryside and Mum enjoyed watching families walk their dogs along the footpath bordering the extensive well-kept grounds. Mum was happy to join other residents in the lounge and enjoyed the meals in the lovely dining room setting. It is certainly a care home that she would be happy returning to either for respite care or as a full-time resident if needed in the future. Thank you to the whole team for providing such an excellent standard of care.
My mother had a severe stroke in November 2023 and as a result we had to move her into a care home as she was no longer able to live safely on her own. All of the staff at The Cedars have been so supportive of my mother's recovery, when she left the hospital she was very unsteady on her feet, the staff here have supported her throughout and she is now comfortably getting around with her stick. Not only are the staff wonderful with the residents, they are equally as good with the relatives, providing reassurance and genuine care. My father was in The Cedars 9 years ago, which is why I didn't hesitate for my mother to live here. A lot of the staff are still here which gives testament to the home and the management. Thank you to the manager and her team.
My late father was a resident at The Cedars for nearly three months. For the entirety of his time there, he was treated with utmost care and respect throughout. All staff were always very helpful and friendly. I was always kept informed and up to date with my dad's condition, and the team was very reactive to questions and requests. The Cedars have a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Its facilities are excellent and are kept clean and tidy inside and out. My family and I will always be so grateful for the care my dad received.
I have had dealings with The Cedars for over 6 years and have always found them very helpful.
I lost my mum recently at The Cedars. She had lived there for 4 and a half years. I will always be grateful for the wonderful care she received. The staff are all amazing and treated Mum with great dignity and respect. I was always well-informed and kept up to date with Mum's health issues. The Cedars has a lovely family atmosphere and Mum was always happy there. To all the staff there, keep up the amazing work you do.
My mother stayed at the Cedars for 6 months, for end-of-life care. Over that time she had fantastic care from all of the staff, nurses and management. Over all of the time she spent at the care home, we received regular updates on her health conditions from the nurses and management. After a difficult initial period of settlement into the nursing home, my mom settled in and was always made very welcome by all of the staff. I wouldn’t have any hesitation in recommending this nursing home. We would like to thank the Manager and all of her staff for all their support over this difficult time and for making my mom's final months at the home as comfortable as possible.
Mum was very happy at The Cedars. She was well looked after and cared for. There were crafts, singing etc in the afternoon which Mum loved as she was a people person. Also, the summer fair was lovely as it brought everyone together. Thanks again to everyone who looked after Mum.
My dad has always been strongly against care homes, however, since a decline in health we were left with no choice as more care was needed. I have to say that in just a short time he has settled in really well. The staff are kind and respectful and keep us notified quickly of any change in health or other aspects of care. For the first time in over 5 years, we are able to relax knowing he has round-the-clock care. Thank you all at The Cedars.
My father had dementia and moved into The Cedars for respite care after a difficult period of me trying to care for him at home. He quickly settled and responded really well to the calm and caring atmosphere and so we arranged for him to stay. The nursing staff are skilled and attentive, helpful and friendly. They consistently go the extra mile for the residents, nothing is too much trouble. The lovely ladies who do the laundry take such care making sure everyone's clothes are nicely pressed and returned to the individual rooms. The whole place has a personalised family atmosphere. The manager and her deputy are kind, friendly and approachable, they were both reassuring and compassionate when I was worried and anxious at the beginning of Dad's stay. Dad lived at The Cedars for the last six months of his life. He was treated with respect and kindness and I am so glad that we found this care home. Thank you so much to everyone at The Cedars.
Beautiful location, very clean and am totally relaxed leaving my nan in their care. Friendly staff who go above and beyond, highly recommended for that real care of your relatives. Food is nice and freshly cooked and staff can't do enough to help. All friendly and helpful beyond words.
My mother was a resident of The Cedars for the last six months of her life. She was fiercely independent which didn't always mean she was the easiest to deal with. The staff were consistently compassionate and caring and very kind to her.
Mom was in the care home for five months. During that time she was treated with the utmost respect and dignity. Nothing was too much trouble, always made to feel comfortable, especially in her final days. Mom liked all the staff who showed so much care and empathy. The hand of kindness shown to the family was much appreciated at such a time of sadness.
Our aunty was cared for at The Cedars in the last weeks of her life. The quality of care there was excellent and we cannot thank the manager and her team enough. They were quick to respond when we needed a place at very short notice and the team there is flexible, caring, dedicated and very perceptive. Not only did they make careful arrangements to welcome our relative and settle her in, but they also supported us during a difficult time. The manager went above and beyond the call of duty to help us. Our aunty needed specialist end-of-life/palliative care and everything was done to ensure she was comfortable and safe at all times. We were kept fully informed. Nothing was viewed as a problem, despite her many and rapidly changing needs and she was treated with great respect. Her time there was short but we are so glad that she came to The Cedars. Thank you so much to all at The Cedars.
I lost my dear mum recently at The Cedars. She'd been looked after there for nearly six years with dementia after moving into the newly opened dementia wing with my dad, who was also suffering from dementia. They were looked after as a couple until dad died twelve months into their care. Mum's transition to life alone was made an easy one for the next five years due to the loving care and attention of all the staff. Mum laughed a lot and participated in the many activities and trips out. We attended most of the coffee mornings which brought the visiting families together for a chat which was lovely. Mum was content and considered the care staff her extended family. Her appetite improved there too, which was nice to see. Thank you to all the lovely people for making mum's last few years as happy as they could be.
Mum and dad first entered The Cedars in Autumn 2017 after an emotional, long and exhausting search for a home that would not just look after, but love and care for them. They settled immediately after spending sixty-plus years in their family home. It was a smooth and easy transition. I cannot thank the staff enough for their hard work and, above and beyond dedication. Not only for mum and dad but for all of the residents in the home. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending the staff and the home to any family that has to go through this time.
My whole experience since entering here in January 2022 has always been excellent. I have no complaints at all. I am extremely happy here.
My friend had been a resident for over six years at the Cedars before she sadly passed away on 1st January 2022. The care and compassion she received during that time was very good. The staff from domestic to care staff, were kindness itself. Anyone needing care would be safe in their care. I want to thank everyone wholeheartedly for the love and kindness shown.
Unfortunately, our Mum could no longer stay in her own home. Thankfully, The Cedars care home has been amazing. They are so caring and thoughtful, even doing the small things like putting the tennis on for my mum to watch and sending us photos of her enjoying it. Regular Zoom video calls help us keep in contact, and it's always good to see Mum smiling.
