View Full Details of Barchester Chater Lodge Care HomeExtremely disappointed with the standard of care, the care after my mother suffered an unattended fall at the home, the overall very poor cleanliness of the home, the smell of urine in the rooms and hallways and the customer service. I had intended for my mother to be at the Home permanently but we withdrew her due to the poor overall Home experience. A written complaint has been submitted to Barchester and this has been forwarded to the CQC. Would not place a relative there. Excessively disappointed.
You have all accepted + welcomed my Grandma so well; we have all been very nervous about the transition for not only her, but us too. But you have all gone over and above for us all. We thankyou - all of you.
The staff at Chater Lodge are always warm, welcoming and friendly. it was my mum's 97th birthday and four of us had a lovely lunch followed by a delicious homemade birthday cake. The staff made my mum's day very special and ensured we were all fully catered for and we all had the best of days.
So glad Mum is in such a caring environment, which gives me peace of mind too. Writing this after staying for Mum's birthday - lovely lunch and afternoon, birthday cake = very good and very full! I have noted that sweet is never too sweet, really good and thoughtful. Carers are very caring and have a good mix of activities. Everyone is very helpful and goes the extra mile with any of my concerns sorted very quickly. It can be difficult being the 'daughter' as we all want the best for our parents. Luckily we found the best.
A lovely welcoming atmosphere. Staff were readily available to both visitors and residents. All staff seem to have a vested interest in the welfare of the residents. We used the quiet room for part of our visit which is well-appointed and away from the busy lounge. It's nice that the bedrooms can be personalised with bedding, pictures etc. The list of daily/weekly activities cover a wide range of interests and is delivered by a very bubbly and upbeat team. The dining room is very attractive and the food is well portioned. All in all the caring team provide a 'cuddle' of care and each resident is an individual. Came away knowing mum is well cared for and safe and is becoming part of the Chater Lodge family.
My mum is cared for with dignity and she feels very well looked after.
My wife and I have travelled over 200 miles to visit my lovely sister who has been a resident here, at Barchester Chater Lodge Care Home, for several weeks. Prior to our visit, I was somewhat anxious that my sister would be happy and settled here. I am so very pleased to report that she is very happy with aspects of care that she is receiving. She and my wife and I are all very satisfied with Chater Lodge. To the activities coordinator and all staff, a sincere and very grateful thank you!
My mother has been made to feel very welcome. The staff are amazing and friendly and made the transition of my mum going into full-time care very smooth.
Mum moved to Barchester Chater Lodge Care Home last year. She has been looked after as if a family member. All the staff have shown real genuine care! We are so pleased that, at nearly 98, she is enjoying her twilight time. A special shout out to the events coordinator who encourages Mum to engage. Mum received her 1939-45 War Medal in a surprise party that the Lodge made possible. We can't recommend this home enough! Thank you.
Visited Barchester Chater Lodge Care Home to celebrate Mother-in-law being awarded her WWII General Service Medal by the local Wing Commander. The special party was arranged by family in conjunction with the home's staff, with special thanks to the wonderful activities coordinator for her excellent input and support and special thanks also to the chef for the delicious food. A lovely time was had by all the family and friends and other residents that attended. A big 'thank you' to all the home's staff. They really care about the residents and are like a big family.
Barchester Chater Lodge Care Home hosted a wonderful ceremony for my grandmother's presentation of her war medal. Fantastic hospitality, thank you.
Everyone is kind, helpful and fabulous! Nothing is too much trouble. We had a medal ceremony for Mum. The catering was outstanding, the staff are fantastic! Thank you. Muum had the biggest smile.
Mum was presented her Second World War medal for surviving as a W.A.A.F. She has never claimed it and was so surprised when she came into the room and saw how many families, friends, and some residents were there she was so chuffed and surprised to receive her medal. It was presented by the commander of R.A.F. Wittering and two others. What a happy experience for Mum, who had a beaming smile on her face. Thank you to your staff for such a wonderful experience for us all.
Charter Lodge Care Home is absolutely brilliant, they all provide brilliant service and care to my Nan. They encourage her to take part in activities and adapt them for her if needed. Today Charter hosted an event for my Nan receiving her World War Two medal, presented by the wing commander of Wittering RAF. Charter orgainsed for the event, hosted and excelled throughout the whole event. A special mention to the manager, deputy manager, activities coordinator, and chefs for the whole day!
I cannot describe the care and kindness of the staff which I felt here. They made me so welcome. Friends had recommended here highly so I did not feel the need to visit beforehand. The chefs produced the most delicious meals, beautifully presented and very healthy choices. All the residents I have met are a delight. I am returning home now restored and healed. A big thank you again.
I travelled to see my mother today on her birthday. I booked a table for four people, including my mother, for lunch. The table was decorated beautifully with birthday napkins as well as a birthday banner placed on the wall. The food was delicious, thank you to the chef. The activities coordinator served us and kept us well entertained. My mother then needed the bathroom and a member of staff and the activities coordinator took her with lots of jollity. My mother thoroughly enjoyed her day and will no doubt enjoy the box of chocolates she was given.
Lovely, warm home with fabulous staff. Mum us very settled. Keep up the standards very well. Lovely environment.
I initially had doubts as to whether or not I would be happy staying in Barchester Chater Lodge Care Home. I thought I would try it for two weeks and decide whether or not I would like a long-term stay. I have been overjoyed with my stay here. I have freedom, the staff are lovely and my family are happy that I am happy with my stay. I am looking forward now to having a completely happy life here.
My father came directly from hospital to Barchester Chater Lodge Care Home. Initially, he was to stay for two weeks of respite care. He is loving it so much that he wants to stay. He is very happy. The food is delicious - his words. The staff are very kind and professional but he feels valued and taken care of. I am so happy with his care and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone. His granddaughter (11) would like to know when she can move in! Thank you Chater Lodge.
My very close friend who has no family (have visited today) is so much better. More relaxed and speaking without being bitter and resentful. Thank you, you are marvellous.
