View Full Details of Headingley Park Care HomeMy mother was in the care home for 17 months and sadly passed away last week. I would like to thank the secretary as she welcomed us each time we visited. The care staff did everything they could to make my mother comfortable. They took her on trips out to the coast and local garden centres, they joined her in many activities they had parties and little concerts regularly. Mum made a very big bond with the care staff and made some very good friends. The staff was so friendly always wanting to make our drinks and coming in for a friendly chat. I would recommend the care home to anyone.
My dad is a resident at this care home and my wife once worked here. Recently a new manager has taken over and now is better run etc. Previous manager had a few friends (workers) who were interested in and affected previous inspections (failed last Autumn 2022) last inspection was a pass, last May. Informed from wife and the inspectors we talked last May. Things are better now since the new manager came in but still have staff short of problems.
Carers are very caring and patient with all residents and relatives. The care home is constantly kept clean and tidy. I’m full of praise for all they do, my mum is very happy.
Avoid this home like the plague! My uncle was left in his room, slumped in his chair on the dementia side of the home even though he didn't have dementia. He went into the home mid-Jan 2023 and after several falls (sliding out of the chair) he ended up in the hospital mid-March. Sadly he died a few weeks later. The difference between the care on the hospital ward and Headingley Park was miles apart, he left the home with long fingernails and stubble. Within days on the hospital ward he was clean and looking his usual self. There were other residents walking into his room all the time, one even got in his bed with him, and his clothes were always missing. I understand there are poorly residents with dementia etc, but my uncle was not one of them and he should never ever have been on that side of the home. I tried on several occasions to speak to the manager (in person and over the phone) but she was always 'busy' and to this day I've never managed to speak with her.
What a disappointment that no one from the staff came to my friend's funeral. After being a resident for 2.5 years you'd think someone in management cared enough. No contact since he died, no message of sympathy or support. Every picture tells a story.
The staff in Headingley Park are very caring with my mother and make sure she is well cared for in every way. They are very approachable and eager to help. The cleanliness has improved dramatically and my Mum's room is always clean and tidy. Maybe the only thing that could be done to improve things is to offer more activities.
I have found, after a short period of time, that my mother, with the care and aid of your experienced staff 24 hours a day, has been able to settle into a daily routine of safe and monitored medication within a warm and secure accommodation block, with like-minded residents in a family circle. Thank you Headingley Park residential home
Plus points, first-rate staff. Minus points no activities, no stimulation.
My mam has settled very well, all staff have been brilliant. My only reservation is the activities. My mam had a short stay at another care home with the same company as Headingley. At that home, they had a person designated to activities. This would improve Headingley raising it to excellent.
The home is very clean throughout, decent sized bedrooms. Excellent choice of meals. The carers are excellent and very dedicated to the residents. Couldn't have chosen a better place for my aunt to spend her final years.
Headingley Care Home is lovely, the staff are brilliant.
My mother has been a resident for a month after visiting several homes. We thought Headingley Park suited my mother's needs, the staff are excellent. I am so pleased she came here.
This has been a joyful experience, making me feel safe and secure around friendly, helpful staff who are kind, caring and dedicated to doing a fantastic job. I have stayed here on respite but am hoping to become a permanent resident as soon as possible.
This residential care home has lovely, friendly staff who show how dedicated they are to residents and their jobs. They are a pleasure to know that they care and support my mother and the standards of the place is 100%. Nothing that is asked of them is too much trouble.
Accommodation: always clean and fresh smelling. Rooms and general areas are tidy. Immaculately maintained. Living and dining areas are very well kept. Food quality: I've visited frequently and I'm delighted that Dad is happy with the plentiful portions and variety of menu. Excellent catering for his birthday (88th) on 5th November. Staff/carers: The most important aspect for me is the exceptional staff. The home has a fantastic team of management and carers. All the team are friendly, professional and totally committed to the care of residents. I am fully satisfied with Dad's care and I trust all the team totally.
My father was a resident here and although some of the staff were very attentive and pleasant, I found overall there was a lack of communication from the staff and, at times, they were not easy to approach and could be confrontational and rude. The laundry system left a lot to be desired and on numerous occasions, I found my father in other people's clothes, whilst most of his had gone missing. He was left without underwear and socks in his drawers on most of my visits no matter how many times I pointed this out, the general consensus was that I should expect this? I felt standards of care and cleanliness could have been better and liaison with relatives improved.
Carers are very caring and loving, always chatting with residents and making sure they are OK. When my mum has been ill the staff have always made sure my mum got the medical attention she needed. I always feel that I can also talk to staff if I am feeling anxious or upset.
Staff friendly. Lovely home.
