View Full Details of Field Farm House Residential HomeMy father was sent there from hospital, the two weeks he was there he was put in other residents' clothes, given chips with every meal, several unidentified marks on his body. He had a fall and was taken back into hospital in just a pad and nothing else. They said he had undressed himself but my father has tremors and is unable to undo buttons and in the last 18 months has never once tried to undress himself. A shameless place that charges residents to send staff into hospital for appointments with them, they are just entrusted in how much they can squeeze out of the resident's families. CQC was informed and photos and evidence have been given to them.
My mum has been a resident for just over a year now. At first, I was somewhat apprehensive, but as the months have gone on, I can now relax (but still feel guilty) that I made the right decision. She had a visit from her sister yesterday and had some photos taken - she has not changed at all and as one person said she's obviously being looked after very well. I just want to thank all the staff and management for everything that they do.
My mother was taken to Field Farm House for rehabilitation to start with following a stay in hospital. She had been living with me prior to that and was looking forward to coming back. She couldn’t settle, and was very upset she couldn’t just come home. I was aware that most people feel like that so wasn’t unduly worried. Unfortunately due to a stay in hospital where she caught covid, she was very frail and her needs were getting more than I could possibly manage. After the rehabilitation for four weeks we made the decision to keep her there as it was unsafe for her here. We had a holiday booked and we decided to see how it went and plan from there. When we returned and visited her we were so shocked, she had deteriorated so much. The care home made us aware and we decided to bring her home for her last days. A hospital bed arrived with our own carers. She was put on morphine for the pain that was caused by huge open sores that had built up over weeks, not dressed and dehydration.
I can't express in words how grateful we are to everyone at Field Farm House, the thought, care and love shown to my father has been over and above what we could have hoped for. I am forever grateful that he came to Field Farm House for his final days. My father arrived at Field Farm House following a very difficult period of emergency respite at another care home, upon his arrival it was clear that the staff at Field Farm House took time to understand him and he soon became content and compliant. Within my father's final months he had a very complex medical situation involving an open wound, this was managed and cared for incredibly well by the staff, along with the District Nurse team, amazingly not becoming infected. In my opinion, the end-of-life care received by my father was exceptional. Communication between staff, management and family has been excellent, as Power of Attorney I have been involved and kept informed on various changes in my Father's medical and care needs.
