View Full Details of Alexander CourtManagement and staff work hard to ensure my mum's changing needs are met; as they know her well; keeping records that inform decisions; responding respectfully with kindness and care. The home feels friendly and homely. Staff are welcoming and approachable. The furnishings, layout, decor, pictures and ornaments help the homely comfortable feel. The two cats make it feel even more like a comfortable true home. They help residents relax, as does the patio garden which has become a lovely place to sit.
Alexander Court home is a good place for my mum and her needs. The staff are very caring and teat residents with respect and kindness. Family of residents are kept informed of meetings and organised activities through meetings and other notifications. Numerous activities are organised throughout the year to raise funds for things to enhance resident's lives and improve their living environment for example a pleasant outdoor space to enjoy during the summer months. I am always welcomed with a smile when I visit and given any updates on my mum's care. Staffing numbers can sometimes limit extra care needed by some residents, especially when very busy with demands.
My dad has lived here for two years now and has always been very well cared for. We are so pleased to see the positive interactions between staff and residents, the time spent with them ensuring their needs are met and that they feel special and cared about. Dad has enjoyed activities and celebrations along the way and now that he is not so mobile, great effort is taken to help him socialise and join in as much as possible with the other residents. Although he no longer recognises us, we can see that he is comfortable having us in his room. He appears calm and relaxed every time we visit. The heads of care keep us well informed of changes in his health and well-being. We are on a journey but we feel supported. All the staff are friendly and welcoming within the home and the whole place has a calm atmosphere. We are grateful that Dad has a safe and secure home for this very difficult stage of his life.
My mother has been in Alexander Court Care Home for seven months now and has been very well cared for. She enjoys some of the traditional dishes like roast dinners and cottage pie but is not so keen on pasta or rice dishes. I am always made to feel very welcome when I visit my mother and get on very well with all the members of staff.
Alexander Court Care Home is a lovely, welcoming place. I feel totally confident that my loved one is safe and stimulated, very important, as they are a resident in the dementia, upstairs area of the care home. Whenever I visit, regardless of day or time, the standard of care is the same. The staff are all cheerful and very competent. And I would say that they go beyond the call of duty to make the residents feel special and happy, I would have no hesitation in recommending Alexander Court, Thetford, to anyone who was faced with the difficult task of finding the right place for their loved one.
A big thank you to all the staff and helpers to make the 25th anniversary barbecue a great success, the family of five generations had a wonderful time with the resident. We are always amazed at the enthusiasm and sheer hard work that goes into these events. Thank you once again.
Mum has been here since April 23 after being in the hospital for three months, then on to another care home for an assessment. Mum seems very happy, and she settled in very quickly. All the staff are lovely, and Mum seems to get on well with them. Any issues, and they call me straight away. Definitely feel this was the right home for her.
All staff are friendly and caring. The food quality is very good. Rooms are clean, tidy and safe, could be a little more personalised. Activity team are good fun!
Our mum came to Alexander court over a year ago, following a negative experience elsewhere and being in need of person-centred Dementia care. She has flourished here, her cognitive abilities have improved, her mental state is much better and she is clearly happy here whenever we see her. All the staff are always friendly and welcoming, they are kind and caring with all their residents and always stop for a chat whenever we visit.
The staff are wonderful but still not enough on each shift. At times they are run off their feet and have little time to offer companionship to residents. I have always found the staff to be friendly. When possible they are also helpful.
I attended a meeting for the family members to discuss plans for the home and upcoming events. I found it particularly informative as I am not on certain social media so realized I have been missing out on a lot. I also gathered information from other family members. I feel it would be a good idea to have these meetings on a regular basis. Maybe every four months.
My Mother recently moved into the home and settled very quickly. The home is modern, spacious and clean. The staff are excellent with her. She sometimes chooses to join in with activities and meals but can have them on her own sometimes if she wants. There is no restriction on visiting and we always feel welcome. She gets the 24/7 help and security that we were not able to give her and I am able to relax knowing she is in good hands. There is plenty of staff who are all friendly and keen to communicate and help. Our initial worries about the transition soon passed.
We hated the idea of placing Mum in a care home and unfortunately she had to go to two other homes, which she always asked to come away from. With the help of the manager of Alexander Court, we obtained her a room in the Dementia Unit of Alexander Court which was in our home town and a road she could remember the name of in her memory. Unlike previously, the moment we took Mum to her room and into her armchair, and explained where she was - she was settled and never once asked to go anywhere else. She felt safe, cared for and home. We cannot praise every single member of staff at Alexander Court enough for the absolute care, kindness, time and patience they showed Mum. We witnessed this care and approach taken with the other residents at all times when we visited and it was not just when the staff were aware they were being watched. The last weekend with Mum was a difficult one but every single member of staff and the medical staff that they called in could not have done more for Mum.
I would like to thank all of the amazing staff members at Alexandra Court care home who have looked after my mum who has dementia. They have shown dedication and compassion but also light-heartedness and humour to my mum and also to the other care home residents that I have seen when visiting. What more could you ask for, thank you.
I like that the staff stop and have a chat, also have a word with my husband. When I have rung the home, they have always been very helpful. With covid the last 2 years all the staff deserve a medal.
My wife has been in Alexandra Court for just over a year. I can only say how pleased I am for the care and attention all at the care home have given her at all times. Even in the covid year, we have been informed at all times of the current situation. The cleanliness and feeling of well-being at the home has made me pleased with the care my wife has been given.
I found the care home very nice, the staff and carers very helpful and friendly, sometimes we joined in with the games. Before the virus came we could visit when we wanted to. Sometimes I would visit twice a week and the place was spotless whenever I visited.
I have an enormous amount of thanks and gratitude for the staff and facilities at Alexander Court, it has been a very trying year to establish a diagnosis and future care requirements for my mum. During that time not only have the staff been extremely caring and courteous but have provided a comfortable and safe environment for my mum to be in, this has meant so much to not just mum but me also. It has been a difficult year for everyone with restrictions in place but I have always been able to either telephone or FaceTime mum at times when visits were not possible, I am always welcomed when making a visit. I have had some of my darkest moments through the past year and the staff, as far as I’m concerned, were not just there for mum but me also, the manager has gone above and beyond at times putting my mum’s safety and care first above everything. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Alexander Court and will be eternally grateful for everything they have done for my mum and me, Thank You.
As a family, we were really concerned about how Mum would cope in a care home environment as she was adamant that she didn't want to go in one. But with advanced dementia and after a bad fall, there was no choice. Then there was Covid-19. However, she is happy and comfortable and has people around her. There are activities to join in, which she can if she wants and often does. The staff are lovely and everywhere looks and smells clean. I am able now to visit Mum, which is a great relief as we didn't want her to feel abandoned by her family, although the staff help to bridge the gap, for which we are grateful.
Alexander Court Thetford - the staff are warm and friendly. They are kind and supportive not only to the residents but to family members as well. I am so grateful for the care my mother is given and shown. They really are a kind and caring residential home.
