View Full Details of MoorlandsMy wife had to go into moorlands while we did a wet room. The staff were absolutely fantastic and nothing was a problem. My wife and I haven't been apart since we married in 1960 so the decision for my wife to go into a home for 3 weeks, was the hardest one I have ever made. They were brilliant they let me stay with her for up to 12 hours a day, which i dont think I would of got away with, in any other nursing home. They were excellent and made us feel at home, every visitor my wife got, were also made to feel welcome. I am so pleased we chose Moorlands for my wife's stay. They have continued to care with sending carers out twice a day and we also are having meals on wheels.
My mother-in-law went into Moorlands while we were getting a wet room fitted and they couldn't have been any nicer. The care was fantastic, they communicated with us at every step. The staff made us and Mum's visitors feel at home. Nothing was a problem. I would highly recommend Moorlands for your care. They have continued the care when Mum came home, also doing meals on wheels service. We couldn't be happier with our choice of Moorlands.
My aunt stayed at Moorlands for a year, she had dementia and we had helped her to stay at home for as long as possible as she wanted to. Moorlands was absolutely the best home she could have gone to, she was so well cared for with kindness and dignity and had the best possible quality of life with outings, friendships, entertainment etc. The home was fantastic at always keeping me informed with how she was doing, welcoming me at any time I or any of her friends wanted to visit, and when she sadly passed away they really took care of both of our needs in ways that I am so grateful for, all I can say is thank you Moorlands.
Once we had taken the difficult decision to move Dad into a care home we looked at a lot of homes to find the right one. When we visited Moorlands a we soon felt that this small family-run home would be perfect for Dad. The excellent service the home provided started before Dad moved in when they completely redecorated his room. From the first day, we could not have asked for better care. All the staff were warm and welcoming and their commitment to providing a home from home was clear. Sadly Dad's stay in the home was only short before he peacefully passed away as a result of a long-term health condition. During the last two weeks of his life, Dad was treated with exceptional care, compassion and dignity and nothing was too much trouble for the competent, caring and hard-working staff. We were well looked after too during this difficult time. We will always be extremely thankful for everything the fabulous staff at Moorlands did for our dad, and for us, during his short stay.
After many hospital admissions, my 90 year Mam needed care we could no longer provide at home. We looked at numerous care homes, and feel extremely fortunate that Moorlands, a small family-run home, had a room for Mam when she needed it. Moorlands really is a home from home, a warm, welcoming and cheerful place. Friendly management lead by example, nothing is too much trouble. The exceptional team go above and beyond to create such a special place, working hard to make Moorlands what it is. It is clear to see that this is not just a job for most of the staff, they genuinely care for residents, and long-term continuity of staff is a positive in any establishment. Sadly our dear Mam was only at Moorlands for 4 weeks before she peacefully passed away. Throughout this time, she was treated with care, dignity and exceptional kindness. I was very well cared for too. I will be forever grateful for everything the wonderful Moorlands team did for Mam, and for us as a family. Heartfelt thanks to all.
My father has been a resident in this residential home for a few years now and is very happy. I understand from what he tells me that he’s very well looked after and they take them to various activities too.
I always find the staff friendly and helpful. They keep me well informed. The home is excellent at celebrating birthdays and involves all of the family. The activities provided are many and varied. The outings include bowling, theatre and shopping trips. I feel the ethos of Moorlands is to ensure the environment is homely and caring. The residents take part in meetings where they can suggest ideas and activities they would like to include.
I was very happy with the care and compassion given to my Pop, a massive thank you to everyone, especially one of the senior carers. Although Moorlands may be a bit tired/dated on the inside, I was content with the overall care given right until the end (don’t judge a book by its cover scenario). Family-run small care facilities trumps any posh care home any day (just because it looks luxurious, doesn’t mean the care given will be). I would always recommend to any families/caters to do research thoroughly into care homes, including visits and meeting the care staff and management. I would definitely recommend Moorlands, if I had to give any constructive criticism it would be to give the care home a slight makeover/clean outside and inside as this could potentially put people off on first glance! Thanks again for everything, much love.
The care at Moorlands is excellent. My Mum who is slowly failing is beautifully looked after by a team whose warmth and professionalism is wonderful to watch. I am kept informed about her progress and always made welcome when I visit.
Ever since my first contact with the home, the general manager and his staff have never been anything other than polite and dedicated to the care they provide. My Mam at first went in as respite care and quickly transitioned into full-time resident, the staff have been attentive to detail and will always go the extra mile where they can. Nothing is ever too much trouble. They provide entertainment, days out here there and everywhere, also not forgetting the fortnightly bowls outing which I know the residents look forward to and taking part in. The word ‘Thankyou’ won’t ever be enough to cover the exceptional care they provide. Keep doing what you do team Moorlands
I cannot praise the team at Moorlands highly enough. The genuine care my Mum receives is above and beyond. This is a care home that is a real home and community. The community and support extends to my 93-year-old father who visits my Mum every day. The team deserve the highest praise and I am truly thankful for everything they do for our family.
On behalf of the family, I’d like to send a huge thanks to the team at Moorlands Care Home. You’ve done a brilliant job looking after my mother and father in the last 2-years, especially given the challenges you’ve faced with Covid lock-downs and restrictions. We always felt they were safe with you and appreciate your efforts in keeping the morale of all the residents as high as possible with all your extra efforts (which were very creative). It felt more like a 'home from home' for Mum and Dad rather than an ordinary residential care home and being a part of a big and loving family. We wish you the very best for the future, and thanks again.
Warning: This care home is much more than just a care home, it has very much been my grandad's home for the past year. I love him very much, and it has been so nice to see him make friends and be cared for by such a great team and cared for by all his mates amongst the residents. Through his ups and downs, he has been cared for with such respect and dignity, with facilities second to none. I cannot recommend Moorlands highly enough. 0 covid at any time is not just a tribute to the organisation and management, but to the personal dedication of every individual involved at Moorlands.
My dad had been in a different care home for respite previously, but we weren't happy with the standard of care. Back home, he received visits from the Moorlands home care team and they restored my faith in the caring profession. So when he needed more, there was only one choice. There is nothing corporate about Moorlands, and all the members of staff and residents are like an extended family. His room is great, with views over the park, and comes with a reclining chair and TV. The food is just the type my dad likes, meat and two veg, fish and chip Fridays, and sandwiches for tea. There are activities for the residents to take part in (but no pressure to get involved), and regular birthday parties with fabulous cakes! My dad can take a bottle of whisky to dinner to share with his friends. With COVID, visits have been restricted but they have been fab to organise garden visits, pod visits and Skype calls. It is truly care that Moorlands Care Home provides and is a real home for my dad.
Moorlands Care home in Darlington has been the place of residence for my mother's former partner. Moorlands has been very attentive to his needs. They even recognized his birthday and recently had a little party for his 90th in which I was invited to Zoom with other family members. He appears very content at Moorlands. During the pandemic Moorlands had zero outbreaks of COVID and have been very careful in keeping it out of the home, this when many other homes in the North East had active outbreaks. Moorlands is a small home that is family-owned and managed. It has been easy to reach staff when problems have arisen. Generally issues are dealt with immediately and to my general satisfaction. I would likely recommend this home to family members considering placement.
As this is my first time in a care home, I don't know what to expect, so just go with the flow. Everything so far is acceptable. As you would expect, I still miss my home but will have to get over it.
My mother has been very poorly for the past month or two. The love and care she has received is far and beyond what would be expected from any care home. We have been kept informed and involved in every aspect of her care. Furthermore, their care is extended to our family and we are constantly told by management that they are there for us as much as my mother. I cannot single out one member of staff because I feel they are all exceptional.
My dad sadly passed away on 14th Jan and as well as him receiving fantastic care, I also had 10-star treatment while I was in to share his last few hours. Thank you to all the amazing people involved in the smooth happy running at Moorlands. My family cannot thank you enough.
Sadly my mother passed away aged 93 at Moorlands on 29th December 2020. I can only say how grateful I am to the manager and his staff for the care and kindness they gave to my mother during her time at Woodlands. The photographs and videos uploaded to Facebook and taken over the Christmas period clearly demonstrate the wonderful time and pleasure my mother had in her remaining days. It is with great regret that due to Covid tier restrictions, my own health issues and living in the South East, it was not possible to visit my mum before she passed away. However, I always spoke to her every week by telephone and I was assured and confident that she was happy and well looked after by her carers and their colleagues. Thank you all for your dedication, hard work and compassion. Good luck and Best Wishes for the New Year to a great team at Woodlands Care.
We chose Moorlands for my mother’s care and have never regretted it. It is family run and the staff just go above and beyond with their care. Not only do they care for all residents, but for our family too. Everything I have ever asked about they have got back to me with a solution. Now, due to COVID, we obviously have not been able to visit. But, they set up an area of the garden, then a gazebo to enable us to visit. But, obviously, it is too cold so they have made a very good job of finding and altering an area indoors. It is secure and means that we can visit and see my mother. During lockdown they went above and beyond keeping relatives safe and entertained! They kept us informed and I had no need to worry at all about the safety of my mother. No COVID cases either! Wonderful, highly recommended care home. Thank you to you all.
