View Full Details of Cherryfield HouseMy mum has been a resident at Cherryfield House for a few years now sadly due to dementia. Cherryfield has saved my mums life, she is safe and looked after to a level I couldn't achieve myself. The manager, deputy manager and the senior carer and others who's names I do not remember have always been amazing and patient and tolerant of mum and myself!! I don't know how you all do the jobs you do but keep it up. Thank you.
My dad has been a resident now since December 24. As a family we are very happy with not only with how settled he is but how well looked after he is too. The staff are all warm, caring and patient people who obviously care about the residents. Knowing all their individual quirks and habits the staff all have their own style of care and way of connecting with individuals which is lovely to watch. Sam has been great and lets us know anything of importance in a timely manner. It's a great relief for us all to know dad is being not only looked after but also he is treated as an individual . Thank you to everyone
Cherryfield House cared for my Dad for the final 13 months of his life, when he was sadly succumbing to vascular dementia & alzheimers. My family & I all agree that there is no finer place he could have been; the manager and all the staff at Cherryfield House took such wonderful care of him that we really can't rate them highly enough. My sincere thanks and best wishes to all the staff.
Dad was in Cherryfields for just over 12 months. It was not an easy decision to place him in care but on the first day I visited and saw him in the lounge with the manager, I breathed a sigh of relief. There were plenty of staff around, all very attentive and smiling, and this was the case on every visit. Dad had Alzheimer's and not always aware of his situation, but he always seemed settled. The only smell was that of food cooking and again that was always the case. His room though basic was always clean, as was dad. I cannot fault the staff at all, they were extremely caring. I once said to the manager that I wished dad could tell me what he had for his meals, as he always forgot what he had and that afternoon she went out and purchased a white board for the staff to write it on each day for us. That was such a simple thing but one that made us feel more connected to his life still. I will always be grateful for the care that they gave to dad.
My father in law has been a resident in Cherryfield House for 16 months now. He has Dementia and Alzheimer and other medical conditions. We are extremely happy with the care and can only reiterate the excellent quality of care, given by the manager and team, who we feel go above and beyond. We are always kept informed regarding any issues that arise, which are handled promptly and efficiently. We feel my father in law is cared for as an individual, he is safe, and he is happy. Thank you to all at Cherryfields.
Whenever I come to see my dad he always seems happy and in good spirits. The staff are always looking after him so well and chatting to him like he was one of their own family. Everywhere is so clean and tidy. It gives me peace of mind to know he is being looked after so well.
My father who has Alzheimer's and dementia, his wife passed away suddenly in December 2023. Although we are a very close family, it was apparent that we could not cater for his 24-hour needs, even with home care assistance. Even though it was a very difficult decision to make, we are very glad we found, with the assistance of Adult Social Care, "Cherryfield House". My father in addition to his Alzheimer's and dementia, has a number of other medical conditions, which Cherryfield take care of. We like the fact of their close contact with a daily GP service. We are glad we made the decision. We feel he has the very best care, he is very settled, calmer, more responsive, interacts with both residents and staff. We are kept fully updated of my father's well-being. The manager and staff are caring, thoughtful, dedicated, treat the residents as part of their own family. All staff go above and beyond to make it a home-from-home.
My brother has both physical and learning difficulties and has been a resident of Cherryfield House since February 2016 and is very happy and settled here. The home has a small number of residents and suits his needs. His room with en-suite toilet etc. is ideal for him. The staff are attentive, caring, accommodating and professional. The manager is brilliant and nothing is too much trouble for her, the same with all the staff. I am very happy with him being here and that all his wants and needs including medical attention is taken care of. Because of his conditions, he is insular and will not partake in any activities.
My wife suffered from a rare form of EO dementia. I cared for her for 6 years from diagnosis until the last 5 weeks when she entered Cherryfield. I was very reluctant for her to enter care, but so glad we had Cherryfield. My wife's complex needs meant 16 homes refused her. She was more settled, less anxious and regained some of her former self within days of entering the home. The staff are wonderful, caring, warm and professional; led brilliantly by the manager, who is everyone’s favourite sister/daughter. Apart from the sensitive and loving daily care they excelled when my wife fell ill with several co-morbidities. We insisted my wife should leave the hospital and end her life in the home where she had become comfortable with the family of staff she trusted. She became relaxed and at peace instead of frightened, jumpy and moaning. The staff cleared her room putting in a bed so I could live with her for the two days until she died. They nursed her with love and sympathy which they extended to myself and children.
I am the eldest daughter of my father, who was admitted to Cherryfields House after several admissions to the hospital, me having my own medical conditions it was not an easy decision to place my father in a care home. I contacted the manager at Cherryfield House and I felt very welcome and at ease as soon as I walked in. Very warm and very friendly, very welcoming I was shown around by the manager and I found a lot of the rooms were made personal, the manager assessed my dad's needs. The day my dad arrived he was shown all the love and affection of all the staff he was clearly happy with a big huge smile on his face. My dad celebrated the jubilee party with a bang with live entertainment, he got up for dancing and singing events in the home. They had Indian nights which staff dressed up for it, my dad loved his curries, and the love and respect given by the service users, this gave the family peace of mind. The staff was Dad's family. Sadly due to Dad's health at the end, he was very comfortable and pain-free.
The staff at Cherryfield House Care Home have always been pleasant, caring and very helpful. They have made my dad very welcome and always look after him to the highest standard. We are grateful for their help with Dad. The staff work very hard. The manager is always around to answer questions we have.
I have been singularly impressed by the level of care and sensitivity shown to my sister - a resident of two months. Staff are always willing to attend to her needs and spend time with her. She is totally bedridden, in severe pain and they manage to cheer her up and she is very appreciative of their concern and kindness. I have bee visiting many care homes over the years as a member of a group of voluntary visitors, Cherryfield House Care Home ranks as the best of them.
Excellent rest home. Managers and staff are very pleasant and helpful.
Since moving my mum into Cherryfield House Care Home, my mum's mood and demeanour changed within two days, her confidence and confusion disappeared and is much happier. When I visit my mum, she's always happy and well turned out. The staff are fantastic and always friendly.
Our mum has been a resident for a number of years, and she is very settled there. The level of care is really good; we couldn't be happier. The staff are really friendly and caring for our loved mum. The manager is of the opinion that all residents are like family members and should be treated with respect and care, which they do. We can't thank them enough for the care and attention they give.
We honestly cannot praise this care home enough for their kind care of my brother whom we recently lost. He loved living there and was given freedom and respect as well as great considerate care by the manager and all the staff. As a family, we rate this care home so highly and are so grateful for what they did for our brother, they allow residents as much freedom and independence as possible and that really helped my brother who had the security of being well looked after at the home but could still have the freedom to go to his social clubs and to football matches and family meals. Thank you to the manager and all the staff for all their hard work and the great care they give to all their residents.
When I want anything for myself I only ask the manager and she will then either go to the shop with me or we go online in the office together. She also gets me my TV magazine, which is very helpful when I am in my own room every evening. She got me a phone for personal calls. She even got me a football shirt for my dad's funeral which was a shock to me. She goes out of her way for all of these things and she has a massive list of other things to do. I don't know where she gets the time and energy from, but I couldn't want or ask for anything any better than the way she runs things.
I put my dad in this care home in May 2022 and gave his flat up. Today the manager gave him 28 days' notice to leave because he got hold of a lighter in there and set something alight from smoking in his room. I'm sure it is their job to make sure he doesn't get a lighter. I'm now left worrying about where he will go next. There's never been a proper chef, the manager does the cooking, she rings me to take him meals and snacks over.
My mum was as comfortable and looked after as she could be given her circumstances. The staff are proper carers (they do care)! Throughout her time here she has been treated very well in all aspects. The home is kept clean, tidy and 'homely' rather than having a clinical feel. If you want a home to care for you/a loved one then this is it! I haven't rated activities as Mum was happy on her own, reading, puzzles, TV etc. so didn't want to join activities.
The home is clean, bright and airy. The staff are friendly and efficient and the residents are mostly okay. Sometimes the rooms are too hot or too cold - the central heating isn't perfect but extra heat may suit older residents. Activities are a bit lacking but this is understandable as staff are usually busy providing care.
