View Full Details of Nightingales Residential Care HomeMum moved into Nightingale's in September last year after she was no longer able to live independently. The staff have all been so caring and helpful with Mum and with us. It took a huge worry off our minds to know that she was getting good care and was in a safe and secure environment where we could easily visit her in. Sadly, Mum passed away last week, aged 95 and peacefully in her sleep. We really feel she had the best care and comfort right up to the end.
Nightingales is a home from home to my mother who is 103 and has resided there since March 2024. There are plenty of staff and the place is clean and spacious. The staff are friendly and helpful and happy to do anything you ask. There is a large patio area which we use often when the weather is good enough, it has plenty of comfortable chairs and a large table to sit around under cover if you prefer. They are in the process of making a 'zen' garden with water features for this year. There are organised activities for those who enjoy them. There are also entertainers from time to time. The food is very good, especially the homemade cakes. There is a very large day room with comfortable armchairs and a big TV, a 'Quiet Room', and even a hairdressing salon. I would not hesitate to recommend Nightingales.
It was a very pleasant experience. The care was excellent. I did not know what to expect, having had very little connection with care/nursing homes. My visitors were always welcomed with refreshments if they so desired. I have no hesitation in saying I would recommend it to friends and family should they need similar care or treatment.
My cousin was a resident for several months including end-of-life care. The home was very supportive throughout his stay. The accommodation was new and perfect for his needs.
I found the care home to be excellent. Staff in particular were kind and caring to my mother. If there was a problem I was notified immediately. Always listened if I had any concerns.
I was lucky enough to find Nightingales following a recommendation from a friend. My mother spent 15 months here and I can't fault the care she received. Their friendly and informal, rather than regimented, approach, suited us all very well. The home itself is bright, cheerful and welcoming and I would definitely recommend it.
The care home cared for my brother for almost eighteen months. The staff were amazing, thoughtful and efficient. They kept in contact with us regarding any issues with my brother. The care home itself is just like someone's home, cosy, bright and cheerful and smells of 'home cooking'. They have recently invested in a new block of rooms. If I had to be cared for this is the place I would want to be looked after in.
I have found Nightingales Care Home to have a very friendly environment. Staff are always helpful. Home is always clean and tidy, but feels like visiting someone's home rather than a clinical unit. There is always a friendly welcome and residents seem well cared for.
Communication is excellent between care home and relatives via email, phone, etc. The tarmac drive outside the home in need of resurfacing. Some residents miss being outdoors very much and so it is disappointing that despite the home being set in extensive grounds, the gardens and trees are very overgrown and look neglected - residents only have a very tiny area to sit outside. Very much needs improving so that those who enjoy gentle walks outside have pleasant open areas.
My aunt has been in Nightingales Care Home since March 2020 for safety during the pandemic, although it looks like now too become her new home. She will 100 in June 2021. She stayed twice in 2019 for respite care. She has a large comfortable bedroom with her own toilet and washing facilities. The manager is professional but very approachable with excellent help and advice. I have found the staff very respectful, caring and compassionate. The whole team have worked really hard to avoid Covid coming into the home, and all guideline seemed to have been adhered to. Throughout these uncertain times, the manager has kept relatives regularly updated.
My mother enjoyed her time at Nightingales, being particularly appreciative of the homely atmosphere and the attentive, friendly and caring staff.
My Mother moved into Nightingales 2weeks before her 101st birthday in Sept 2019. Coming from her home of 70yrs we were so appreciative of the way the staff at Nightingales made the transition to residential care stress-free and smooth. Initially Mum was able to enjoy the family environment and social interaction at mealtimes or in the lounge. As she became frail staff tailored the care they gave Mum to her changing needs and kept her safe and comfortable. The final 72hrs of her life were peaceful and dignified. The staff respected her and our wishes to avoid hospital admission and provided care that enabled Mum to remain in the privacy of her own room with her family. We could not have been more supported.
Staff were sympathetic and helpful, even after discharge.
The home is working very hard to improve the standards after a long period of non-investment in the building. The new manager is very positive and experienced and seems very driven. In a short time, a great deal of improvement has occurred. The welfare of the residents is definitely her number one priority.
Very friendly, caring, attentive environment for the residents.
