View Full Details of Maycroft Residential CareMy mother has been a resident at Maycroft for the last 3 years and she suffers from Dementia. The staff are very caring and patient ensuring that she always feels safe and reassured with the manager providing guidance and support if needed. With this being a small home the residents are familiar with each other and activities occur on a regular basis for all to enjoy. A hairdresser also visits once a week with an optician and podiatrist also coming when needed. In summary, the home gives me peace of mind that Mum is being looked after by people who care and can adapt to Mum's changing condition when needed but more importantly Mum is happy living here.
The team at Maycroft always go above and beyond for my mother. I cannot thank them enough for the kindness and care that they consistently show to all our family. They go out of their way to ensure they give their full support wherever needed.
My father was a resident at Maycroft for only a few weeks, but the care he received in this time was exceptional. The home is very well run by the current manager and team. The home is small, and friendly and the staff have a great relationship with their residents. My father was made very welcome and cared for compassionately, as was his family when visiting. I would not hesitate in recommending Maycroft to friends looking for a residential home for their loved ones.
My aunt has been very well cared for and enjoys a little bit of pampering that she didn't allow herself at home. There have been activities and socialising even when external events have made staffing difficult. Easy communication has been reassuring.
Maycroft staff are always accessible and helpful. Never have to look for help, it's always there. Very caring environment with good leadership from the top. All Staff members are cheerful and always helpful.
My mum is in Maycroft and has a lovely downstairs en-suite garden room. The staff are caring and there is a real homely feel in the home, lots of chatter music and laughter, and always someone to chat with and support them. The manager is first class and goes over and above for every resident and communication home from the senior team regarding Mum's health and concern is so very reassuring. I would certainly recommend this smaller homely care home.
The Maycroft offers an impressively high level of care to all its residents. There is a real family feel at the home with residents and staff. All the staff are always so caring and helpful to my mother, led by the director who always goes the extra mile to make a difference. A lot of effort is put into activities and events which really is evident in creating a positive atmosphere. The garden is used a lot and my mum has the opportunity to plant geraniums and enjoy a meal or drink outside when the weather permits. I feel that my mum is very safe at Maycroft and receives an exceptional level of kindness and attention. I am always made to feel so welcome as a guest and can easily visit anytime for a relaxed chat with my mum in the quiet lounge. This really is a very well-run care home and feel lucky we discovered it!
My mother has flourished since she has been at Maycroft. She is eating well and even gaining weight. She is clean and tidy and looks healthy and happy. There are plenty of activities for her to take part in and all staff are very attentive, supportive, patient and kind. The management is exceptional, and I feel it has gone over and above in keeping me updated with how my mother is settling into life in the care home. The home itself is clean and very welcoming and has a real 'family' feel about it.
My mother has needed care 24/7 at Maycroft since January of this year and I would like to say she has been very well looked after by friendly, supportive and expert staff. The food and entertainment provided are of a very high standard and the accommodation is excellent. Many thanks to you all.
My need was for convalescent/respite care following a severe gastric episode. I also have a past history of PTSD/trauma. My stay at Maycroft was at short notice but I was welcomed into a warm and friendly atmosphere and family. I needed help and was given it. I found the staff competent and caring. Should I ever need a break again, I would choose Maycroft.
We felt the warmth and homely atmosphere of Maycroft as soon as we crossed the threshold and knew this was the right place for my husband who suffers with Dementia. Our feelings have been proven correct now that he has lived there for the past seven months. It was a heart-wrenching experience letting our loved one go and passing his care over to strangers. But the manager and staff have been exceptional in helping us all deal with this huge change in our lives and welcomed us all into their family. They are friendly, very caring, and approachable, and go the extra mile to ensure that the health and happiness of the residents is paramount. The Residents are encouraged to take part in organized varied daily activities. My husband has joined in some of these including cooking Brownies, much to our surprise, the first time cooking in eighty-one years! We are always welcome to visit, join in the activities and are invited to Celebrations which we have thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you Maycroft.
We have been more than pleased with the help and support given to my mother-in-law and the care and support shown to the family, especially in the early days when she was very unsettled. Nothing is too much trouble and we feel able to ask anything and staff whenever we visit we are always asked if she or ourselves need anything.
Lovely staff and atmosphere. Dad has transformed into much more of his old self. A great home. After previous negative experiences at other homes, the effort of the staff and management is hugely appreciated.
I have never seen my friend's husband look so happy and content since he had to go into care. Maycroft Residential Care obviously suits him. He smiles so much which is a joy to see. He now joins in with whatever is going on. Everywhere is clean and tidy and the rooms are excellent. Everyone is treated with care and dignity This is all down to the excellent manager and her wonderful staff. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. They are a team to be proud of and I would have no hesitation in recommending Maycroft to anyone.
My husband, who has Alzheimer's, was in two previous care homes where he was constantly pacing and agitated before moving to Maycroft. In just one month, the change in him is incredible. The homely atmosphere and lovely, caring staff have have made him so much more relaxed and happy. All our family and friends, when visiting, have commented on the huge change. This is thanks to the manager, carers and all the supporting staff who have helped him settle in and feel so welcome. When I go to visit him I am always greeted by the staff with a lovely smile and kept up to date with how he is doing. He now joins in with the various activities, which never happened where he was before. The residents' families receive weekly updates of the past week's activities from the manager, which is always very welcome. I cannot praise the Maycroft enough and would highly recommend to anyone.
My mother has been a resident at Maycroft Residential Care for over a year now and it has been a great move for her. The outstanding care from staff and genuine interest and kindness towards all the residents is heart-warming. My mum's quality of life has improved so much with the interactions and activities (especially scrabble her favourite) throughout each day. I tend to visit each Saturday and bring the dog to the garden or up to Mum's room which she loves (as do most of the other residents who like to come and pat him!). Nothing seems to be too much trouble for the staff and we receive lots of pictures and videos of the daily activities which is wonderful. The home is warm and very comfortable with high quality furnishings everywhere. Can't recommend Maycroft Residential Care highly enough.
Our mother has dementia and was refusing to go into any care home. However, due to careful planning and gentle persuasion, she agreed to a trial period at Maycroft. We were astonished at how quickly she adapted. She takes part in nearly all the activities and has made friends. Our mother was extremely fussy with food and was losing weight. She now enjoys meal times and has gained weight. The staff have been excellent and we consider ourselves very lucky to have got her a place.
My mother has been at Maycroft for 17 months now and the improvement in her mental and physical health, has been truly amazing. She is genuinely happy there. The wonderful program of activities suits her very well as she likes to be busy. All the carers are unbelievably patient and kind. When there are issues (inevitable in community living), the manager quickly ensures they are addressed. I am so grateful for everything.
In my view, Maycroft is an outstanding care home for our mum. She has a full and very varied life there, with staff who are wonderful, caring, considerate, fun creative and extremely kind. The care home manager is an amazing person, running the home with huge professionalism, compassion and care, also sending us, almost daily, video updates on our mum and what she is doing that day. So reassuring. We never thought moving our mum could have worked out so well but it did. My mum is very fond of the staff and told me the other day that she loves her life there. She has so many things she can choose to do she really does have a full and happy life. I don't need to say any more!
We looked around many care homes in this area and this was our favourite. It was homely and we got a real sense that the residents were happy. It was 6 months before we got her a place and consider ourselves very lucky to have got her in. Our mother has dementia and was very reluctant to go in. It is thanks to the careful planning and experience by management that our mum settled and is actively enjoying her stay. We are very grateful.
