View Full Details of The Old Vicarage Care HomeThe Old Vicarage Care Home provided a much needed day care facility for my father twice a week. The staff are extremely caring, taking the time to get to know my father in order to be able to give him the care, respect and attention he needed. It took him a while to settle in due to his dementia and Alzheimer's however the patience of the staff and their ability to encourage him to get involved in activities is a testament to the high level of care they provide. Being able to see him joining in with activities on the social media platform was a lovely way to understand what he had being enjoying whilst he was there as he was unable to communicate this verbally to us. As a family we can not thank all the staff enough for looking after him the way they did during his time there.
My mother has lived at The Old Vicarage for 2.5 years now and the care and compassion has been excellent. All the staff are considerate of Mother's needs, yet seem to be able to gain her cooperation in a loving manner as I never could. Because the home is fairly small, it has a lovely atmosphere and I can visit anytime either in Mum's room, in the garden or borrowing a wheelchair to take her out. Very happy with Mum's care and dreading the day that she may need to move into a nursing home.
The Old Vicarage Care Home provides good, comprehensive care in a setting made to feel like home. The staff are extremely kind and conscientious. They plainly care greatly for their residents' wellbeing and know them all as individuals to be treated with respect.
My mother spent approximately 18 months in The Old Vicarage. She was well cared for especially during the last few days of her life when she was on end-of-life care. Having full mental capacity she was able to instruct the staff on her needs.
My mother spent 18 months in this care home before her death in April 2024. She had moved to the care home following a fall at home. She soon settled in her lovely room overlooking the garden. Her every need was attended to and she enjoyed her chats with the staff, who recognised that whilst needing assistance with washing and dressing she wanted to stay as independent as possible. My family will be forever grateful for the care and attention given to her.
My mother spent the last 20 months of her life in Old Vicarage Care Home. It is a unique home, small, intimate with knowledgeable staff and a stable workforce who seem to all enjoy their work treating residents as family. The end-of-life care given to my mother in the last few weeks of her life was exceptional. Mum was on the whole happy and any gripe was quickly responded to. A dedicated team and high level of care.
The staff treat me very well giving me their time and lots of encouragement to be active and engaged. They are always courteous, friendly and considerate.
My mother was very happy here. I think due to the friendly and caring staff. It felt like a home - she enjoyed the home-cooked food, the company and the activities. I was always welcomed and felt able to talk to any of the staff whenever I visited.
The Old Vicarage Care Home takes fantastic care of my nan. The staff are so caring and attentive. She always says how much she likes the ladies who look after her. I like them too! Somehow they all know my name and what I've been up to. The Facebook group through Covid was brilliant and it's still so nice to see the activities the staff put on. The home itself is in great condition and always lovely and clean. I highly recommend it! Thank you.
I visited The Old Vicarage at the time of the jubilee celebrations and was impressed at how caring the staff were and attentive to all. The residents I chatted to all said how they loved the care home and what a wonderful place it was. It was evident that this was a happy place. My friend has excellent care there by staff for whom nothing is too much and they are always there to help.
A fantastic carehome! Provided a high level of care and support. Friendly, welcoming and loving carers, both to the service user and all the family. Always there to help and listen. Clean, great food, just amazing all around!
The Old Vicarage Care Home is conveniently situated to me and allows me to maintain contact with my wife on a regular basis. The Home is small and very family orientated, meaning that the residents are the family and the staff work in their home. This approach seems to have the desired effect. My wife was a day service user for a short while but her condition and behaviour deteriorated and it became necessary to find her permanent care. The Home had a vacancy and took her in. She has been in their care since early March 2022 and she has settled very well. The staff are very caring and the residents are their first priority. The home is clean and well maintained and my wife seems to enjoy the meals. When I take her out for a coffee or a walk she is never apprehensive or anxious about returning. I would recommend this Care Home and do meet other people who have very high opinions of it. I feel confident that my wife is receiving the best care possible.
My wife was only a resident at The Old Vicarage Care Home for 5 weeks until she had to be transferred to hospital, where she passed away 4 weeks later. During her time at the Old Vicarage, my wife was very well looked after, staff were caring, the facilities good and very clean, the food was excellent, and the whole home seemed very well managed. I would have no hesitation in recommending the home to anyone looking for similar care.
My mother was under the care of the Old Vicarage Care Home for 10 months before she passed away, recently. The home is very well managed with the care of its residents always a priority. When you enter the building, there is immediately a sense of it being a homely place. It was always spotlessly clean. The food was excellent and perfectly suited to its residents with good home cooking, the sort of food which they would have been used to at home. There was always a good range of activities on offer to keep the residents occupied and stimulated. My mother's bedroom was clean and comfortable but did not feel like a hotel bedroom and there was plenty of room to put personal things. The staff in the home were very caring and were able to provide any equipment to improve comfort and care. I could not fault any aspect of the care which my mother received in the Old Vicarage Care Home.
My mother moved to the Old Vicarage in February 2021. She was immediately made very welcome and quickly joined the home community. She was extremely well cared for - particularly important given the current pandemic. I was continually kept advised of her wellbeing and health and was able to visit as agreed by the Care Home and current restrictions. Over the following weeks, Mum's health slowly deteriorated but the home was mindful of additional support and comfort required - the carers were particularly kind and attentive. The home is expertly managed and all carers appear to have the comfort of the residents at the forefront of their care. Mum passed away at the end of May and again, the home could not have been more caring. I am particularly mined of a quote on the main staircase that reads something like - 'this is not our place of work, but your home in which we have the privilege to work' (not an exact quote but the sentiment is obvious).
A small friendly care home with a homely feeling. Both management and the team of carers are wonderful and professional in providing individual care to meet each resident’s needs as well as dealing with visitors and relatives demands. During the time that my friend was a resident she always told her visitors how kind the staff were to her and despite not wanting to go into a home initially, she settled in quickly. Thanks go to all of you and keep up the wonderful service you offer.
Would highly recommend this home. Staff are excellent, very caring and treat the residents with the utmost respect. Rooms are clean and tidy and the quality of food is excellent reside ts being offered a choice for lunch rather than what is given. Has a lovely garden for sitting in during the summer months. Overall a very nice place to be in.
Whenever I visit this care home I'm very impressed with the staff, they always have a smile on their face and are polite. The food is always homecooked, smells really delicious and enjoyed by the residents. The residents seem content and happy when I visit my friends.
As expected from a care home. Much better than the previous care home.
The Old Vicarage Care Home I find pleasant, the staff are very friendly and willing to help when necessary.
