View Full Details of Maes-y-Wennol Care HomeMy mother has been at Maes-Y-Wennol for 6 months now and I can only say how lovely everyone is. All aspects of care and daily living are of a high standard and undertaken with thought and understanding. Attention to detail from health issues to laundry and meals is always good. There is a wide range of activities for all interests every week and Scarlet is great at encouraging residents to take part in whatever their ability. There is always a warm welcome and updates on any changes which is very reassuring to know that when I'm not there she is being well cared for.
My father has been in Maes-y-Wennol for some time now. Every time I visit him he says how good the staff are and that he is well cared for. Whenever I visit the staff are warm and welcoming and very willing to spend time discussing with me how he is and how he has been since my last visit. My mother was also in Maes-y-Wennol some years ago and was treated with care and compassion to the end of her life. As I live a long way away it is comforting to know that my father is receiving the same high level of care that my mother did as this brings peace of mind. Thank you so much to the staff who go out of their way to care for those in their care.
My mother has been in Maes Y Wennol for two months now and I continue to be so impressed with the place and the staff. Everything is so well thought through and designed around the happiness and comfort of the residents. Everyone is so welcoming and friendly. I can not imagine any place being better thought through or run with more kindness and real thoughtfulness. I am so grateful that such a place exists. It is lovely to see my mother in such a delightfully warm and thoughtful environment. When I go home I do not feel worried and anxious about her. And I know she is happy and well cared for.
My mother has just spent a month at this welcoming and caring home. This was our first experience of residential care and neither my Mum nor the family had any need to worry about anything. The whole experience was safe and secure. The staff are beyond helpful and caring. My Mum settled in well and made friends with the other residents and carer team. You are listened to and assisted with everything. Nothing is too much trouble. It has a very warm and welcoming atmosphere but it also has a calm and peaceful feeling too. It is a comforting and safe place. My Mum will be moving to another Shaw healthcare home to be nearer to us. Although she is looking forward to being closer to family she has a heavy heart about leaving the excellent team behind and I think that says more that my review ever will. My mum has experienced a lot of love and kindness there. A huge thank you to everyone.
We are all very grateful to the staff at Maes Y Wennol for exceptional kindness and care to our friend right to the end of his life. In particular the atmosphere on visiting is always friendly and welcoming, the building is light and airy, and the staff very attentive and kind. Thank you.
My Dad was in Maes y Wennol Care Home for his last 3 months and I really can't praise the home enough. The staff are professional and caring and from the moment he arrived my Dad felt safe, secure and very well looked after and he settled in straight away. As a regular visitor, pretty much every day, I witnessed a team that communicated well with each other at all levels and with us as a family, with the best interests of the residents foremost. His care needs changed whilst he was in the home and the team responded to address these changing needs seamlessly. The team at Maes Y Wennol set a gold standard and I feel extremely fortunate that Dad spent his last months there. I highly recommend Maes y Wennol to anyone looking for a place in a residential home.
My Mum is a current resident at Maes Y Wennol. To say the carers and the whole team are amazing is an understatement. Everyone went out of their way to make mum settle in as she was very reluctant to move into full-time care. From the second she arrived, she was made to feel so welcomed, helped so much to settle in, and encouraged to make friends and build relationships. The amazing thing with this care home is the carers and that is all that matters when it comes down to it. They make mum feel special and cared about, they care about her likes and dislikes and cater for these. I could name so many of the team individually but I won't as would not like to forget to mention someone. If you are reading this and considering care for yourself or a relative please, believe me, I was so worried about the decision I had to make for my Mum to put her into a care home but Maes Y Wennol is more than that it's a family and a proper home run by the best people.
My mother was cared for at Maes-y-Wennol from early August 2022 until she passed away in October. Although this was a short time in the home the care she received was wonderful. The staff at Maes-y-Wennol treated both her and me and my husband with sensitivity and understanding at the most difficult of times. We loved the layout of the home so Mother could look out of the room into the garden and she had her own bird feeders to watch when she felt well enough. There seemed to be good staffing levels and all were helpful and very caring. This care home is a credit to its owners and wonderful people giving the care you want for your mother.
My aunty has progressed so well. Always seems very happy and looks so well at nearly 99 years old.
From the first telephone enquiry, I knew that we had found a care home that would provide warm companionship, professional care and friendly interest in a new resident, albeit just for respite. The staff at all levels exhibited a commitment to providing the best care - evidence of superb leadership. This is an outstanding care home, with excellent food and superb provision throughout. My husband is asking when he is going again for his 'holiday'!
My mother spent her last 4 and a half months at Maes y Wennol. I cannot thank the staff enough for the care and kindness shown to Mum and to us when we were visiting. In my experience, without exception, through every level of service, everyone was kind, caring and professional. The standard of cleanliness is excellent. We were always made welcome, in person and on the phone, and during my mother's last days, we were able to visit at any time.
I would not hesitate to recommend Maes-y-Wennol to anyone looking for care. It is very much a home from home and their employees are excellent in their care friendly, gentle and very much committed to the work they do. The food is excellent and the care for the patients that have difficulty in eating is really good, they take the time to feed them gently and without rushing them. Brilliant.
My 97 year old father came to Maes-y-Wennol from hospital and spent his final weeks in the home. He was treated with care and compassion, humour and warmth and, most importantly, respect and dignity. During his final days the family were given every opportunity to be with him and his death was handled with the greatest compassion.
The staff are very professional but very kind. Mum was worried first time she went to respite but came home very happy. She has been several times now and seems happy to go. She loves all the girls.
I cannot praise highly enough the level of care, kindness and friendliness I received at this care home during my short stay.
Always a friendly welcome, our family member has no close family and the staff at the home are just like family to her. Always treated with dignity and respect and given the choice to participate in activities. Activities are individual so all needs are met, i.e: a trip on the bus, one to one care etc. She could not be in a better place!
My mother has been a resident at this care home for 7 years, she is and has been well cared for at all times, with every aspect of her care and needs provided for. She is very happy and really feels that Maes-y-Wennol is her home. I would like to thank and commend the staff for their care in particular during the pandemic.
Must admit felt a bit uncertain on arrival, although I knew people here. But had been through a bad time and felt like I would never feel like a normal person again. But as time goes on am feeling more confident in myself, and am satisfied that this is the next stage in my life. I know I can't do what I used to do, but I like myself now which is a nice feeling.
Mum, who is 99, has been at Maes-Y-Wennol for a few months now. The current restrictions on visiting due to coronavirus has put the responsibility for Mum's mental, emotional and physical wellbeing fully on the members of staff. They have been wonderful in a difficult situation. Mum is full of praise for the 'girls' that care for her. On my visits to Maes-Y-Wennol prior to the lockdown, I found the premises clean and homely and the atmosphere warm and friendly. The staff always keep me up to date with any issues around my mother's health.
My mum has been in Maes y Wennol for nearly a year. In that time she has (as per her diagnosis) deteriorated mentally and physically at a swift and shocking rate, but I'm relieved to say, she is content and happy, secure and comfortable. I visit 2-3 times per week and each visit I witness a person-centred approach from this coordinated and highly-committed and communicative team. Mum's mental, emotional and physical care at Maes y Wennol has been excellent beyond my highest expectations.
