View Full Details of Belvedere HouseDad was left without walker which was essential for his needs, fell and ended up in hospital with hypothermia, developed covid and pneumonia and then sadly died after 7 weeks, lack of basic care, how can your forget to give a walking aid ?? Care plan not fit for purpose, very few carers ever available, promised the world and sadly let down very badly by this home, nothing can bring my dad back but it should never have happened... home investigating after a forced meeting.
Moved my relative from another home, as I was not happy with the level of care that she was receiving. After looking around at different homes, I was recommended Belvedere House. After my initial visit, and had a good look around, I made the decision to move my relative there. I wish I had done it sooner, as everything from her professional and smooth admission, to her care to date has been exceptional, and cannot fault it in any way. I have always found the staff to be friendly, caring and nothing is too much. I would have no hesitation to recommend this home to anyone I know.
I'm not actually sure where to start with this review. We never could have dreamt of finding a care home as amazing as Belvedere House. It ticks every box and so many more. The staff are so kind and caring and make everyone feel special. There are daily activities, all designed with the aim of increasing the quality of life of the residents. Whether it's memory games, sports (chair gymnastics, table tennis, skittles, keep the balloon up...), outings, music, animal therapy etc. The food is fantastic and plentiful and they grow many of their own vegetables. They celebrate every designated day; from the obvious ones like Pancake Day and St George's to the more random such as Hotdog Day, Pina Colada Day, any excuse for another celebration. Check out their social media page, you won't believe everything they do for our loved ones! Dad has been there for 9 months now and we can honestly say it has given him a new lease of life (at 94!). Without a doubt, the best decision we have ever made.
My husband stayed at Belvedere House for two weeks respite care, August 22nd - September 5th. We had three or four visits before his stay. At all times, we were treated with great kindness, patience and respect. Sadly, he cannot remember his stay but I know he was very well cared for. He adjusted to home life very easily on his return. We look forward to using Belvedere House again in the future.
Staff are very patient and caring. Cleanliness is excellent.
Mum has been at this home for approximately five years. We have been very pleased with the care and facilities. My brothers and I feel like part of the staff as we are here nearly every day. I didn't rate value for money high as all care costs are very high and am upset that the government make people sell their house to pay the costs. However, we are very happy with staff and facilities here.
I have had experience of three care homes and without doubt, The Royal Alfred Seafarers' Society is, by far, the best in most areas of care. Apart from the home being in fourteen acres of well-kept gardens, there is an air of quiet efficiency with a relaxed approach to visitation which is both good for the visitors and for the resident. Overall, I cannot find fault with the staff on the physical faculties and generally, the residents have a happy, supportive environment.
Initially very happy with the care received by my father. Unfortunately, as my dad's care needs increased, the gaps in the knowledge experience and competence of the nurse manager, deputy nurse manager and some of the nurses became obvious. Space in this review does not allow detailed explanation but some of the areas we had concerns with were: Lack of Leadership, inability to deal with concerns when raised, lack of knowledge of individual residents' needs, lack of knowledge on dementia care - particularly in relation to hydration needs and stimulation. End-of-life care (nothing written in the End-of-life care plan). No support from the Nurse Manager or Deputy to get Dad home to die as per his wishes (in fact we were reported to social services without our knowledge for trying to arrange for him to come home), Nursing Team are letting the rest of the home down. The care staff are lovely and the housekeeping and catering team are enthusiastic and professional.
I think the staff are amazing but I do think they could do with a couple of extra. I witnessed a lady sitting on her own who hadn't even started her food. I think it would be lovely if they sat down with the residents and helped feed some of the residents and themselves.
An excellent care home providing everything for my mother's needs. We have no complaints and my mother only reports positive aspects back to me. I visit the care home from time to time and can see all as being positive.
All the staff at Belvedere House are very helpful and caring to the residents! The rooms are kept very clean and tidy and nothing is too much trouble for them. I couldn’t wish for a better place for my mum to be!
Belvedere House is a wonderful nursing home set in gorgeous grounds. The individual rooms and communal areas are truly amazing, they could not be bettered in any way. It is very professionally run and most of the nursing staff are very caring.
Our mother was cared for at Belvedere House. The care, kindness and support she received was excellent. Her spacious room with the view of the courtyard garden meant she was able to see outside which has provided great comfort to her as her mobility declined. Everyone on the team from our initial introduction with two members of staff through to housekeeping and the exceptional care and nursing team was warm, professional and supportive in responding to her needs with the utmost compassion and respect. We cannot thank you all enough for being there for our mum and our family when we needed it most. With our sincere gratitude to all at Belvedere House.
My mother has been at Belvedere House for four weeks and I am so happy with how she has settled. Her admission was calm and superbly organised and she was so pleased with her lovely room. Every member of the impressive staff was so kind and as a family, we truly appreciated the thought and effort that went into making my mother feel at home and valued. She is profoundly deaf and her hearing aids are her access to the world. The nurses and carers understand this and have made great efforts to ensure that they are charged and applied daily. The positive impact this has had on my mother's mental health is immeasurable. She is allowed to rest in her room when she wishes and is regularly checked by staff who know her well and understand her needs. She loves the view from her window and the beautifully maintained grounds are a source of real pleasure to her during our outdoor walks. As a family, we are extremely happy with every aspect of my mother's care at Belvedere House.
Difficult to know where to start - I have only visited two care homes on a regular basis, so I can't be described as experienced - but if I wanted to see out the rest of my life anywhere, it would be here - not just because of the view, the design, facilities or utter cleanliness of the place, but because of the individuals working there that make the difference (and make it their business to make a difference). The attention my mother receives is heart-warming but the level of care is amazing. This is not a place where people go to hide but where they go to thrive, within the limitations of their own physical and mental constraints. Staff are willing to do things out-of-the-ordinary to make a difference, perhaps with an event or to limit the discomfort of attending old-age but doing what they can in-house before resorting to NHS support. They do and will call at any time because they know, as carers, that you care at least as much as they do and no time is too late or inconvenient.
I visit weekly. The standard of care and the quality of the rooms are excellent. Staff are genuinely caring and always make a point of approaching me to tell me how Mum has been over the last week. They clearly know her well which is very reassuring. There is a good range of activities and the 'keep fit' sessions are particularly helpful and fun for my mum (and I'd encourage more of the keep fit ones if possible as they are so beneficial). I'd also like to praise the food which seems to me to be always of a very high standard - delicious and nutritious. Mum very much enjoys her meals.
My mother recently passed away after 2 very contented and comfortable years being cared for at Belvedere House. The end-of-life care she received was outstanding, sensitive, professional, and loving and we as a family could not be more grateful and appreciative. Over the last two years, she was always treated with dignity and respect and she knew all the staff as friends. Thank you so very much to all the staff for making my mother's last years the best they could possibly be.
My mother was admitted to Belvedere House for respite care across July and August this year. I cannot praise the Management, all the staff and the Home enough for the care, professional support and welcome that they provided to Mum. Having briefly looked at other homes, Belvedere House stood out amongst its peers. The Care Manager and Deputy were patient, thoughtful and so understanding of Mum's requirements and the whole admission process was made so smooth from the Admin Team to the Carers and Housekeeping Team- 5 stars. She is regularly checked on in her en-suite room, finding that balance of support whilst not constantly disturbing, encouraged to partake in the variety of activities being run daily, again without pressure if she doesn't quite feel up to it. The variety of excellent meals, 3 times per day is superb with the Kitchen team always aware of Mum's allergies. I can honestly say there can be nowhere better to be cared for and supported - Thank you all for your support.
Excellent care and attention to detail. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Room is very well appointed but I understand the patient will be moving to a better one when work is completed. The cleaners are very thorough. His special diet is well prepared and served to him in his room.
My father has been at Belvedere House now for a year and a half and has been very well taken care of. The staff are very kind and have endless patience with him as he has dementia and is apt to call on them far too often! I cannot say he is particularly happy as he has not accepted the limits of his crumbling health and no doubt would prefer to be at a party with his friends on some far-off distant island, but he will admit that the food is exceedingly good! He refuses to take part in the various activities at the home but has enjoyed the bar on occasion and loves sitting with us in the beautiful gardens when we visit. Honestly, I cannot think of a better place for him. It would be great if somebody were able to get him in a wheelchair and take him around the garden once a day, even if only for 10 minutes, so he could smell the flowers. It might brighten his mood. Thank you.
