View Full Details of York HouseFor the last three months I've been in two care homes, both very good to me.
My husband has been here for over 6 months. He is overall good. My concerns are - No activities and no interaction. I visit regularly at different times and nothing is done for entertainment. They sit around bored with only the TV. Other homes have something happening (like disco dancing, old songs) most days.
I cannot fault anything. Friendly, helpful and really made my mum feel welcome and at home. The manager is knowledgeable, and the colleagues are well-trained and capable, they keep us well-informed. I feel like my mother is getting excellent care, and I am confident with my mum living there; I feel at ease. They certainly go "above and beyond".
We have found York House care home such a warm and friendly place. The care given is first class. Care staff are exemplary and are so kind and always give the care in a dignified manner. We as a family are so happy that she is settled and can’t praise them enough. All staff are a credit to the home. They go above and beyond. Thank you.
I knew the time would come when my husband needed a care home. It was the hardest thing we have done. After a couple of weeks, he settled in fine. The staff are loving and kind. They look after my husband. I know he can sometimes be a handful but with no malice. It is a home-from-home. He enjoys the company of other residents and the staff. I miss him so much.
Moved my mum here on the 26th of October, me and my sisters can not believe how much Mum is doing so well and looks so much better. It is so homely and friendly. The staff all seem lovely and will help you all they can! My mum had laid in bed for a year at her last home. She has only been at York House for five days, and she is walking aided by the carers and eating in the dining room. The manager and other staff have been so helpful to us.
The staff are very helpful, they go that extra mile to help, always pleasant. The care they give to the residents is second to none. Always a pleasure to visit, knowing if we have a problem they are there to help.
The care staff are pleasant and I have enjoyed my stay so far.
Not in a long time have I seen my mum so alert and happy. Keep up the good work. The staff find time to talk to visitors, as well as doing their job with a smile on their face, and a good time is had by all.
I was in hospital after the arthritis in my knee got worse and before I was due to leave hospital, I was advised that a period of rehab in a home would be beneficial. York House is only about three miles from where I live but I did not know the area where it's situated, a pleasant area that used to be part of a dairy farm. I found the staff very pleasant to deal with. The cost of the home to those who have to pay is substantial but a lot of carers are needed to look after the residents. I enjoyed the activities I took part in and would have liked to have done some more. I enjoyed attending a concert. I enjoyed eating my meals in the dining room with other residents, especially the substantial cooked breakfasts. I hope that York House will be able to give excellent care and support to its residents for many years to come.
When my mum needed 24-hour care and needed to go in a care home, as a daughter it was a very worrying and upsetting time. However, I soon felt differently seeing how the staff and manager were with my mum and other residents. They are genuinely patient and caring, attending to individual needs and just as important, attentive to my mum's need for company, a friendly face and cups of tea! As a visitor it's been nice, as well as seeing my mum, to have a little chit chat and a bit of humour with the carers about my mum. Her room, always tidy and clean, as is York House. I have never had a smell of urine in York House on my visits. I did look at other homes and this wasn't the case with most of them, so that speaks volumes too. My mum isn't a big eater these days but the food looks and smells lovely with homemade cakes and puddings, which my mum enjoys! I couldn't be more genuine in recommending a care home.
I visit York House regularly to see my friend. Staff are always very happy and very friendly. The home is very clean and tidy, and my friend says the food is beautiful. The manager has done wonders for the home; they are an excellent team. 10/10.
Feel very confident with the management team; they are friendly and supportive. All the members of staff who I have met are all easy to converse with and very helpful. My mother was underweight after a bout of Covid and her time settling into York House. She has now bounced back, enjoying her food once again. A big thank you to all; keep up the good work.
The care home is nice, and the staff are caring.
A wonderful place. I have been well looked after. The food is beautiful and very well presented. I would recommend to anyone.
They seem to be a change in overall care. Leadership seems much better and staff appear to be working as a team. My sister says the meat is lovely and tender. The last twice we have been, we have felt an overall improvement.
My mum settled in really well, and it's so good to see her happy and well cared for. The level of care she has received is excellent, and it's constant relief to know that she's cared for as well as she is. On a couple of occasions, when needed, they have been excellent and quick-acting in getting her the needed medical care.
My dad had not been there very long before he was put on end of life care due to his many complex health problems. The staff were so kind and caring. They couldn't do enough for us; not only did they treat him with kindness and respect, they treated us that way too. It would have been nice for him to recover and benefit from everything available.
I was only sent here for respite stay but I have had four and a half weeks of great care. They made me so welcome by all the staff and nothing was too much for them. The only thing they could do with is more staff but when you buzz them they come as quick as they can day or night. I will miss them all and I am so sorry it's gone so quickly.
Excellent care and compassion, since the day my sister-in-law arrived, the staff have been friendly and encouraged her to come out of her shell. She is a different person from the nervous, quiet individual that arrived - she is confident and happy, thanks to the staff here. Thank you all.
