View Full Details of Delamer HouseAfter living at Delamer House for 3 years, I can only say that I am very happy. The staff are all very friendly. The carers are all excellent, they do all they can to look after us cheerfully.
My mother came to Delamer from hospital early January . She was incredibly frail and was very low in mood . As my father had been a resident at Delamer until his passing in September 23 , it was the natural and only choice of where mum would go. On arrival all the staff made a huge fuss of her and welcomed her . Her room had been got ready including putting up some pictures on the wall of her late husband . It really was like home from Home for her . 3 months in she is a different person , she is so happy there. She loves all the activities and has come alive . I can't put into words the gratititude we have to them.
My mum spent four months at Delamer House before passing away, and while this time was undoubtedly difficult for our family, the care she received was exceptional. The staff were consistently kind, compassionate, and professional. They went out of their way to ensure mum was comfortable, supported, and treated with dignity in her final months. Despite her declining health in her final days, she was still given well-cooked, nourishing meals, which helped her put on some weight, even though she struggled to eat. The home itself was clean, well-maintained, and welcoming, offering a calm and peaceful environment. Though the circumstances of her stay were heartbreaking, we truly appreciated the attentive care and warmth that the team provided. It gave us peace of mind knowing she was in good hands. Thank you to everyone at Delamer House for all you did during this challenging time.
I was given the freedom to "do my own thing ". The level of care, compassion and companionship was amazing. The level of support I witnessed being offered to others was carried out in a compassionate, professional and respectful manner. The food was plentiful, varied and delicious.
I spent two pleasant weeks plus two days at Delamer House whilst my family were on holiday. The room on the first floor was freshly decorated, new furniture with a lockable drawer installed, and the requested electric bed. In addition a footstall and a deep cushion for the winged arm chair. The staff are friendly and helped me all the time. I enjoyed being accompanied on walks to the nearby cliff top, where one would sit and enjoy sea views. The delicious meals were well cooked, including fresh vegetables. Menus were varied with home cooked desserts and cakes at supper time. Although, toilet flush needed constant maintenance, seat low and required raised addition, and water topped in basin, so glad of assisted bath and showers.
Mother-in-law (100 next birthday) has been in Delamer House for 18 months. The manager and staff are brilliant and know her well and make sure her needs are met, as she has dementia and is unable to ask for what she needs. The activities are fun and stimulating and meals are excellent. Every time we visit we are made very welcome and feel a part of the lovely Delamer family. We also get updates via social media regarding activities for day to day.
I have found the care and support my husband is receiving at this recent time to be very good.
It was a shock when we realised we could not care for Dad at home. The staff have been reassuring and kind to my mother who regularly visits. My feeling is they have gone above and beyond given Dad's high care needs. The position of the home is great, the bus stop is right outside. It's a quiet location close to the sea. We are really grateful for this provision. Delamer House has gone a long way in caring for Dad when we could not put this in place at home. The staff are consistent and such an asset! Thank you so much.
My mum has been at Delamer House since February 2022. And we have found the care to be great. She is treated really well and is always treated with dignity. She can’t walk and has dementia but they get Mum up and dressed everyday, which is so much better than when she was having care at home. She has a room that she really likes and is always clean. The home is clean and never smells. I’m struggling to think of a constructive criticism. This is a personal thing in that I wish sometimes maybe some visits with animals might be provided. This won’t be for everyone but sometimes when people have conditions that people suffer with in care homes just to see or touch a nice animal like an alpaca or even a Labrador dog can really make people feel good. One bone of contention would be costs, but that isn’t restricted to Delamer, it is the whole care system that's loaded against us and results in high costs. Overall Delamer has a nice family type feel about it and the staff and management are great.
My mum has been a resident at Delamer since May 2022 and the care she has received is outstanding. The manager has been so supportive and caring as have all her amazing staff. From the moment you arrive at Delamer, you are made to feel welcome. The staff are wonderful and work so hard to ensure every resident feels happy, relaxed, safe and very well cared for. They also welcome all visitors and make them feel equally at home. The standard of care is superb. I would thoroughly recommend.
The staff at Delamer House Care Home have proved to be both caring and compassionate since my mother moved in last year. The manager is easy to talk to, open and honest and I think that trickles down through her staff. Mum especially enjoys the food, talking with her friends in the dining room and lounge and special visits by pianists. The night-time checks are also much appreciated by my mum and she enjoys her porridge in the mornings. It is my first experience of a care home and it hasn't been as daunting as I thought it would be to visit. Even throughout the pandemic, Delamer House have done their absolute best to facilitate visits while observing all government rules. I would also like to thank the manager and the staff for the care that they gave my auntie at the end of her life earlier this year.
My parents enjoyed their stay there and, as their daughter, I was very happy to see them very settled and well cared for.
My mother came to Delamer just over a year ago. She has been fine until early January, but had lost confidence and will to live, and was in great pain. I moved in as she could hardly stand, and would not settle day or night. I was relieved that she came to Delamer, then covid. She survived infection and the pandemic, she managed well. She does suffer from confusion about time, which she manages mostly. She has a paranoid tendency. I think this may be an area to try to address. She thinks things are stolen (but turn up). She thinks she does not fit in, except when she thinks she does. All in all, she is not easy but you (Delamer) have done well, better than I could have.
My friend has been a resident for five and a half years, the staff could not be more helpful, caring or efficient. Nothing is too much trouble. The manager goes above and beyond all expectations to ensure the residents and staff are safe and well. The home's experience during the Covid pandemic proved to be a testing time, which was dealt with according to all Government protocols.
Mum has been wonderfully cared for since September 2018. The home is a lovely place, and the bedroom Mum had was newly decorated with new curtains and fittings. Recently Mum passed away, but the love and care shown to Mum and us as a family was simply amazing. A care home text that I highly recommend.
My mother was transferred to Delamer House from a ward. She was in a very frail and dehydrated state and her dementia had deteriorated. She was treated with dignity and respect and kept very comfortable. She managed to spend this time (two weeks) with her sister (also a resident), and my sister and I were able to say goodbye at the end which meant such a lot.
My mum went into Delamer House in February until April when she passed away. We were so lucky that someone had recommended Delamer. The staff was so lovely and caring they treated mum as a person, not a number. The manager was like a friend to mum and to us. We could not have dealt with mums illness and death without the managers support. They were so understanding of my mum. Thank you for being there for mums last months. Would recommend Delamer to everyone.
My wife has been a resident of Delamer House for the past 18 months. In my opinion, this care home is run by an excellent management team and the staff are well trained, friendly and conscientious. Residents are encouraged to participate in activities and holidays, such as Christmas and Easter are celebrated in some style. I would have no hesitation in recommending Delamer House.
When we came to view the home the Manager spent 2 hours with us showing us around and talking to us. We were impressed with the care shown by the staff and how homely it felt. We have been very pleased with the care received and have recommended the home to friends for their Mum.
My sister was admitted to the Delamer Care Home three years ago. At that time we thought she only had three weeks to live. But due to the devoted and caring attention given to her from all the carers and staff of Delamer, she in fact lived on for a further three years. This was only made possible as a result of the wonderful care and professional attention afforded her by all at The Delamer.
