View Full Details of Gildawood CourtFound the home smelly. Very few staff at any time. White staff can be rude. Black girls are more friendly. Untrained and taking too long to care for residents. The toilet had excrement in and the bedpan had too. I had to clean and flush the toilet. The resident is made to feel they were in the way and made to feel prisoner.
Just cannot fault the care received by Dad at Gildawood. He went from being bed ridden and unable to feed himself after hospital discharge to being up on his feet and getting a little bit of independence back even with him living with Alzheimer's. Big thanks to all the staff. You are all amazing and he would have definitely stayed with you if it was closer to home.
My partner was looked after by experienced, caring and kind staff. All her needs were met in pleasant surroundings. All staff were supportive to myself and went above and beyond to sort a difficult situation out.
Mum's been in care for nearly 3 years and as her health has deteriorated her support has increased. I can't fault the way she's been treated throughout her stay or how the home keeps her family up to date with her changing medical needs. On visits when staff have been present, nothing has been too much trouble and they have taken time to talk and answer questions about Mum when asked. Thank you all for everything you do.
To me this is the best place for my mother. My mother is more safe here and more relaxed, jolly, cheeky and witty but happy to see her happy within herself and the people who care for her all of the time. You can see this in my mother's face when we see her, we love to visit as much as possible. Five Golden Stars all day long to all of the staff and a big thank you to all of them.
Overall a good place. Dad was upstairs on a discharge to assessment. Nice enough room however could have done with hoovering and cobweb removal more often! There are a few members of staff who really made things for Dad. Food was a massive issue. I took meals in every day for Dad.
Vert friendly. Good visiting times, very flexible.
My mum has been here for over 6 months now and I am so happy with the care she receives. The staff are great and she loves the activities and social events. From a personal perspective, the support that the staff and management have given to me during this transition has been wonderful. Making a decision for a loved one to enter a care facility is difficult and Gildawood has been very supportive.
Very caring staff. Residents are looked after by trained staff. Food is excellent. Clean surrounding. Administrative staff are very approachable. Dignity towards all residents is clearly visible.
I viewed Gildawood prior to my mum becoming a resident. I knew straight away it was the right home for my mum. It just felt right - the atmosphere, the location and the home itself. What I had not bargained for was just how fabulous the staff are. They go above and beyond to support my mum. Even when staff and my mum are not aware I have arrived, I can see the relationship they have with her. I can't thank them enough! Everything is just perfect!
Shortage of qualified staff. Agencies used do not speak properly to residents. Sometimes too quiet. My husband has not had his teeth cleaned or false teeth stuck in for over a year. I have mentioned this numerous times. Overall the staff are very pleasant and friendly. Loss of property is a constant complaint. Outside garden could be made more resident-friendly. Seats shaded areas and paths to walk on grass area is very uneven.
My dad was neglected to the point he developed a nasty fungal infection and was taken to A&E. I was told I was going to be contacted by the manager and wasn't to discuss my complaint. Still waiting for communication from them. And also hasn't communicated with me to see if my dad is ok. Very let down and upset with the care received.
I am very pleased with the care that my dad has received at Gildawood Court. He has felt comfortable and safe in his own room and has been attended to well by the carers.
My mum came here on discharge from hospital for respite. The staff were very relaxed and friendly. Residents could come and go as they pleased, mix in open-plan lounge area or spend time in their rooms. It was a very person-centred care home. The rooms were lovely, and looked clean, meals looked very nutritious, plenty of choice and healthy. My mum is a fussy eater. I had peace of mind that my mum was well cared for and safe and more importantly she was happy. Management were regularly seen on the visit and well led. Mum developed friendships with others on the unit, who were staying as well. My mum was reluctant to go to the care home but she had a positive experience and so did the family.
Since my wonderful father has been in Gildawood, all the stress has left me. I will never forget the manager's first words as I left Gildawood on the first day I left Dad there, with tears in my eyes. She said "You can go back to being his daughter and let us take over" and that has been so true. When he is unwell and waiting for an ambulance, they sit with him. They phone us with updates. A lovely gentleman carer shows him funny clips on social media and makes sure he has football/Bond films on TV.
Always found the staff helpful, especially one member of the care staff, who bends over backwards to support and is ever so nice.
Having to move Dad into care was such a difficult decision. But Gildawood Court Nuneaton have been amazing. The transition was made easy. The staff were so welcoming and friendly and it felt so reassuring to have them there for Dad. I spoke to my dad on the phone today and the difference is amazing. From tears and heartbreak on previous calls when he was at home or in the hospital to a lovely chat with my dad was so good I could hear how much happier he is now. Thank you.
We are very pleased with the care and attention that our father has had in the time that he has been at Gildawood Court Care Home.
The transition from hospital to care home, of course, made Mum and the family very anxious. Gildawood Court Care Home was very welcoming and understanding and were there to answer questions and enable us as much as possible. The room is comfortable, there seem to be enough activities, lovely food and endless tea (my mum's requirement!) Mum loves singing and there seems to be plenty of opportunities for her to enjoy doing that with others here. A few times, there have been medical emergencies with Mum and these have been handled quickly and very thoroughly by staff and very caringly, as if she were a family member, which we notice and appreciate.
My mum has been in Gildawood Court since June 2022, she has settled very well and seems so happy. Staff are always friendly and approachable. They let me know if there are any concerns with Mum and any problems are sorted out efficiently.
