View Full Details of Brambling Lodge Care HomeMy dad had been living at Brambling Lodge for over 4 years. He had mixed dementia aswell as being completely immobile. He sadly passed away recently. Over the years you get to briefly meet staff but over the few days of my dad's decline the staff were amazing, the care and compassion they showed to my frail dad was amazing to see. My sister and I stayed over night and the night staff that evening were amazing and we really got to know a few of the carers better over the few days we had left, it is just sad it takes a relative to be end of life to really have the time to chat with staff and get to know what your loved ones likes and dislike are, but also comforting to know they think very highly of them and look after them as one of their own. They have all been amazing and Abode should be proud of all the team they have working for them because all the staff you meet greet you in a kind and friendly way. Thank you Brambling Lodge. xx
Words are not enough to express my thanks to the manager and her amazing team for the fantastic care my husband received in Brambling Lodge Care Home over the past couple of years until he, sadly, passed away on 19th July this year! My husband had dementia and Parkinson's but thanks to the staff's hard work, care and kindness, his time there was enjoyable, happy and second to none. I shall miss him greatly but I shall also miss my lovely friends at Brambling Lodge who made me feel very welcome and always had a ready smile, thank you. I would have no hesitation in recommending Brambling Lodge to anyone who is looking for residential care that really means care!
My father came to stay at Brambling Lodge in January 2020. The Care Home Manager came to meet Dad and I. As soon as she met Dad she showed empathy and kindness. She fully understood Dad's needs and understood myself and my family's concerns. Dad stayed with the manager and her colleagues till he sadly passed in January of this year. My family and I could not have wanted better staff. They do not have a high turnover of staff which is fantastic for consistency and routine for my father. The staff were amazing with my father and met all his needs. He needed help bathing, all personal care, eating and getting dressed etc all of these were done to a high standard. My father's Dementia journey ended this year. He was on end-of-life care for 2 weeks. I'm not sure how I would have made it through that time if it wasn't for the manager and her staff. I wrote in my eulogy for Dad 'The manager and her staff showed love and kindness day after day. They were simply the best.'
Mum came to live in Brambling Lodge Oct 2023, when we arrived with Mum we was warmly welcomed and settled Mum into her lovely room. Mum soon became a part of one big happy family, we could not be any happier than seeing Mum smile all the time. All the staff, from the cleaner to the manager, had total respect and care for Mum. On our visits to see Mum, she always looked lovely. Mum would have her hair and nails done and the chiropodist came in too. The activities held there are amazing, there is nothing they left out. On Mum's birthday, we had balloons and banners put up which made it very special, nothing was ever a problem. Mum's favourite song she always sang was 'You Are My Sunshine', which the staff would often join in with her. If anyone is looking to find a care home then this is the place. A hidden gem in Shepherdswell. At the end, the dementia had taken control, Mum's last few days were made very comfortable. We were with Mum right up to her last smile. Thank you to everyone.
Sadly, Mum passed away a short time ago, aged 97 years. Having been in Brambling Lodge Care Home for eight years and nine months with dementia, where she was so well looked after by wonderful, caring staff. We, as her family, cannot speak highly enough of the standard of cleanliness in the whole of the home itself and her room and Mum, herself, always looking nice and fresh. She had her hair done and the chiropodist came too which she always enjoyed. Sadly, the last years she has been in her room more due to age, becoming more frail. But her care never changed up to the day she passed away peacefully with staff around her. We feel that Mum lasted as long as she did because of the care and love given to her all that time. It was shown to us, her family, when my husband suddenly was taken ill and taken into hospital and passed away four months later. They were there for us too. An amazing home, so happy we found it, the best thing we ever did for Mum, she was so happy, bless her.
My continued gratitude to all the team at Brambling Lodge for taking over the caring responsibilities for my wife and helping me to cope during the most traumatic period of my life. I will be forever grateful to you for your care of my wife.
My father suffers with dementia and was in the later stages. He has lived with me and my wife for the past 3 years and we have placed him in respite for a week at a time, (two to three times a year) in Brambling Lodge Care Home. His care was exemplary and could not have asked for better respite, the staff were brilliant with him and the management made this process stress-free. He always seemed to enjoy his holiday there, giving us peace of mind knowing he was getting the care I would want him to receive. He is now beyond the need for respite so I would like to thank all the staff at Brambling Lodge for making my father's last few years happy, also supporting me and my wife keeping my father at home with us until the end. Thank you.
Brambling Lodge is a very lovely home. The staff are lovely and friendly. We had to find a home while in the covid-19 pandemic and I know we could not have found a better place for my sister. She was very happy there. The room we saw her in had a lovely outlook onto the garden. They provide various activities and appropriate exercises, with willing smiles and lots of encouragement. I would have no hesitation in recommending this care home and have indeed done so, to my friends. Unfortunately, my sister went in, in the November, as we were coming out of lockdown. But her illness took her from us in the March and the staff, again, could not have done any more for her than they did. We were able to be at her bedside till the end. We cannot thank them enough for all they did for her and for looking after us as well.
Brambling Lodge is a real 'home from home' - comfortable with access to garden space. The staff are all very friendly and attentive and during this dreadful COVID-19 have obviously dealt with the stress of lockdown very well. They have kept in touch during a long period when we have been unable to see our dear friend and this is reassuring. They provide various activities and appropriate exercises for their charges, and all with willing smiles and lots of encouragement. I would have no hesitation in recommending this care home and have indeed done so several times.
My father has been at Brambling Lodge for a couple of months now. First on a short term bed basis but in the last couple of weeks, as a permanent resident. The home is light, clean and airy and really is a home from home. I can not fault the care my Dad is receiving and all the staff are professional and attentive. As a dementia home, there is, of course, differing levels of service user needs but all are cared for with dignity and kindness. The food is of a very high standard (especially the cakes!) and my Dad often has seconds! The whole atmosphere is wonderful and the village location makes it a lovely place to visit.
Brambling Lodge is a lovely happy, cheerful home. All the staff are very pleasant, enthusiastic and caring, nothing is ever too much and they will always ‘ go the extra mile’. I could not have faulted the care my father received during his stay at Brambling Lodge, especially for the last few days of his life. Also the support our family received during this time. The home has been very understanding towards my mother during her loss and have encouraged her to mix with other residents and come out of her room to ensure her time at the home will be as pleasant as possible without my father.
Mum has been a resident for the last two years. The care she has received has been exceptional. The staff are all very approachable and show Mum kindness and courtesy at all times. The cleanliness and maintenance at Brambling Lodge are of a very high standard. Numerous social events are organised throughout the year. I have no worries or concerns about the home, but if I had, I would feel confident in speaking to the Manager or any staff member.
I am very happy with my mother’s care. She is settled and seems happy. The staff are always friendly and caring.
The home has a very warm welcoming atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and nothing seems to be too much trouble. The residents are treated with respect and dignity and are not patronised. Many activities are organised and residents are encouraged to participate.
Brambling Lodge was recommended to me by the family of a lady who had been very happy there. I can honestly say that I have had no regrets. The staff are caring and respectful and it only took Mum a day or two to readjust to her new surroundings. Mum is well cared and happy and despite her increasing dementia. I know that she will be well looked after.
It is the happiest I have seen him. He smiles, he is well fed and end enjoys the camaraderie of the staff and their activities. They have quickly got used to his little ways and preferences. It is the first time in almost 3 years that I am happy to leave his care to others. I feel relaxed and at ease that he is happy.
Mum seems to be well cared for most of the time. There have been a couple of occasions when either myself or my sister have been to visit her during the winter and she has been wearing sandals and no socks and her feet were cold. This could have been due to the ongoing problem with underwear going missing even though all clothes are labelled. Most of the staff are very kind and caring and always welcoming and friendly when we arrive for a visit.
From the initial day of viewing the home and being shown around by a nice long standing member of staff, who was happy to open every door, albeit, store cupboards with a 'nothing to hide' attitude, which we liked. She was honest in answering our questions to the fact, of also showing us the old, outdated areas, which were 'work in progress'. Before and after we could see the way forward with this happy caring home. The staff went about their daily duties in a professional happy manner. At times we do feel there isn't enough staff on duty, especially as many of the users have more challenging behaviour. More so, I think more staff are needed for the meal times so that all users are having their meals whilst still appetisingly hot. Overall the food looks good, which our relative enjoys. The room is more than adequate and we spend most visiting days staying in there with our family member. There's always time for passing staff to say a friendly hello, along with asking if we need anything. We feel nothing is too much trouble. Both management and staff are totally approachable and I wouldn't hesitate to raise any issues as I know it would be dealt with effectively and professionally. At the end of the day, we all have the relatives best interests at heart. We would not have any doubt in recommending Brambling Lodge to others. Out relative has been made welcome, kept warm, safe, clean and comfortable along with needs met with dignity for personal care and attention. With the new owner and new management we look forward to seeing continued 'team building' and plans evolve for the future.
The residents of Brambling Lodge are treated as they would be in their own home where possible. The atmosphere is usually happy and relaxed. There is always plenty of beverages provided on a regular basis, and fresh food always available. There is always activities for the residents who can participate which helped to keep them occupied. Entertainment is provided on a number of occasions during the month with the residents singing along. For personal needs, hairdressing and chiropody are provided on a regular basis.
