Mum was admitted to Furze Hill as an emergency admission due to being unsafe in her flat. I had fantastic communications from the management team prior to admission advising me how to negotiate with social services as I had never had such an experience before! The staff in the home were caring, understanding and friendly. Mum also stated that the activities were first class and varied.
My niece seemed much more settled and happy on our 2nd visit, she looked well was dressed nicely and her hair had been recently cut. Her room also felt more homely with pictures etc. When we left my niece was momentarily upset, but the carer expertly distracted her with the dog, we were impressed by his manner, and the activities we have seen evidence of. Our general impression of Furze Hill Lodge is very positive it has a good atmosphere and we are pleased for it to be our niece's home.
Staff are very welcoming and tentative whilst maintaining professionalism at all times. The care given to my father and my mother, prior to her passing, was excellent.
The staff are exceptional. They genuinely care for the residents and cannot do more for them. Nothing is too much trouble. They all have smiles on their faces.
I trusted Furze Hill to look after my husband of 63 years (he is now 88 years old) and they have exceeded my expectations! All the staff are amazing - he was bedbound after a long stay in hospital but is now up on his legs, albeit not walking far, but he is getting there with the help of his carers, and the physio who comes in thrice a week. Parts of the home are a bit tired but they are getting there. I could not recommend Furze Hill more.
I cannot praise the manager and the staff enough for the amazing welcome and care they gave to my mother when she became a resident a the home. Although I was worried and extremely anxious for her I realised immediately that she was in the best place possible. She settled in straight away due to the staff's attention and support.
I arranged for the current resident to come to Furze Hill Lodge because I had previously had a good experience with the care taken by all the staff. I checked whether this was still the case and was very pleased to find that it had actually improved in all respects but particularly in terms of the quality and maintenance of rooms attention to detail of individual requirement and friendliness of staff.
They coped with my mum very well. The residents seemed very happy and also catered for their age group on TV with a nice film on. Staff are very hands-on. Very happy customer.
My Mother is looked after well although on occasion feels she's not listened to regarding her wishes. Says there could be more choices in the food served especially breakfast. Apparently most days 2 slices of toast with marmalade (cereal, scrambled eggs, porridge alternatives could be added to the menu.) The decoration of the building and residents' rooms could do with an overhaul.
The care home environment is very welcoming and the staff are very helpful - always with a smile! They are very attentive to my Mum and attend to her needs as appropriate. My Mum enjoys the food and the activities such as her recent trip to the garden centre for afternoon tea. I feel very comfortable leaving my Mum in this care home knowing she is safe and warm. - Thank you.
My Mother-in-law originally came to stay for respite after 2 weeks here it was apparent that she needed 24/7 care. All the staff is lovely and she is very happy here. The staff go above and beyond for the residents and always make visitors very welcome. The entertainment man is brilliant and keeps the residents very active and always engages with them.
Mum has settled in well, she enjoys the company, and the food is good. The stimulation Mum gets with the various activities they do is something Mum hasn't had for a while which is great. Also taking Mum out with others for trips to the Garden Centre etc. helps to get them out and give them something else to talk about when we visit.
My aunt was transferred to Furze Hill Lodge care home in September 2023 from the hospital, having been diagnosed as having lost full mental capacity and not safe to be living on her own. In her time at the home, she was treated with compassion and dignity at all times. The staff were generous and caring at all times and courteous to me when visiting. Her diet was varied and she put on weight. She was later taken to hospital suffering from a chest infection and passed away peacefully.
I find the staff extremely professional, happy and friendly. The home is very cosy and more like a country house.
My uncle seems happy at the Furze Hill Lodge so I am happy, the staff are friendly and welcoming.
Kind, friendly staff that go above and beyond. Excellent standards of care provided within a lovely setting.
Care and management excellent. Food very good. Well organised activities. Overall very clean. Staff very caring and polite.
I like living at Furze Hill.
