View Full Details of Northway House Residential HomeA very caring home, all of the staff are so helpful in making everyone happy. A lot of activities, sing songs etc. The food is very appetizing.
Very pleased with the care my mum has had, very caring staff, they seem to spend time with the residents and sit and talk to them, not just to see how they are and walk away. The care home is very clean, no carpets (great news) Residents have lovely meals and snacks, not short on food. Mum is clean, well-fed and seems as happy as she can be with dementia.
Excellent residential home for my mum and stepdad, both lived here for numerous years. Since the new manageress took over the home has become excellent. The staff are a credit to the home. Nothing is too much trouble.
I stayed at Northway House for 13 days of remedial care following a hip replacement surgery. For most of my stay, I became increasingly independent needing minimum help, but help and care was always there if needed. Under these circumstances, I am unable to comment on the whole extensive intimate care given to most of the residents but I have no doubt that it is first class. Catering is excellent, the meals are well cooked and varied also, with in-between meal drinks and titbits. Day or night nothing seemed to be too much trouble for the carers who faced every request with willingness and a smile. I think it is only fair to say that carers are grossly underrated by those in managerial positions (few if any of whom would be capable of doing the job) and their value to society needs to be drastically updated.
My father recently spent two months in Northway House having respite care. I am writing to say how very much I appreciated the wonderful care which you provided for my father, throughout the time he spent with you. He always looked clean and well-cared for. He felt he had friends amongst the staff and had nothing but the highest praise for their professional efficiency. He also enjoyed his interaction with other residents. He thought that the meals provided were excellent. During my frequent visits, I noticed a really good atmosphere in Northway House, where nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Help was always provided in a cheerful and chatty manner. This excellent attitude was apparent in every member of staff from the top all the way through. The house is well-appointed with a lovely and accessible garden. I noticed a high level of regard for safety. In my opinion, Northway House is a truly wonderful retirement home.
Northway House was my fathers home and family for the past nearly 4 years. Northway has a great team of carers who looked after dad and cared for him giving dad the opportunity to remain as independent as he could be, but also making sure he had the right support and care when required. They all showed great kindness.
Northway House gave my friend the care and devoted attention she needed. My friend was in hospital on numerous occasions. She needed nursing care and Northway House welcomed her back from hospital so they could provide that care, of which they did until she passed away. They said it was her home and the care she received was the utmost.
My aunt died here in November, after the happiest years of her retirement. The care she received was second to none; I could not have asked for better. But this was not special treatment for her closing weeks, albeit she did require more one-to-one care. All the Northway House residents get it as a matter of course, as and when it is needed. It has been so for the five years I've been associated with it. These are residents, not patients; but care, consideration and respect are paramount. My 3 "good" ratings do not imply any shortfall! But the building is what it is; for all that matters, the scores are excellent.
My elderly Aunt moved into Northway House Residential Home at very short notice having become malnourished and no longer capable of looking after herself in her own home even with the support of carers. That was some 18months ago and thanks to the strong but discreet care and support provided she has put on weight and is once again a happy and healthy 95 year old. I recognise as an old building Northway House may not suit everyone but it's ideal for my Aunt. She feels comfortable because the staff whilst supportive when necessary, allow her the independence she wants.
Over the last two years, my brother-in-law has been a resident at the care home mentioned above, in that time he has been very happy. Enjoyed the food and activities and has said many times its a home from home. He has always been clean and smart, and well presented. A credit to the staff. I only hope that I would be looked after so well should the circumstances arrive.
My mother was in Northway House for 2 years and 3 months until she passed away, she was 99 years and was very happy at all times. The care she received up until she passed away was excellent and a great help to me at all times, especially at the end. All the staff at Northway House are very professional and carying and can't do enough for the residents.
Warm/clean, very approachable staff.
