View Full Details of Royal Cambridge HomeMy husband was welcomed so warmly to the Royal Cambridge in November 2024 by all the staff, whether they be carers, cleaners, kitchen staff or front office. The space inside is very good for someone who is active with dementia and a varied activity programme is supplied morning and afternoons. Even at weekends, the carers are thinking up activities to do with the residents and my husband is allowed outside to walk in their large garden. On a sunny day recently, most of the residents had lunch outside in the garden and loved it. Some days there is an outing on the minibus which is a real bonus. All the staff are so friendly and the care is excellent to all the residents. My dog is allowed in to see my husband and the other residents love to give her a stroke and feel her coat!
Good, attentive staff, welcoming, friendly, clean premises, room comfortable.
My mother was permanently placed at this care home on discharge from hospital. My initial impressions were very good, and I'm pleased to say that after a month or so, this has not changed. The welcome from staff from the front door inward is friendly, warm, and engaging. The environment is very comfortable, clean, homely and welcoming. The room is bright, and airy and suits mum's needs very well. The care I have witnessed to date has been patient, kind, and exemplary. My mother has settled very well, takes part in the various activities, is eating well, and becoming more confident in her mobility due to the support she receives there. I am very pleased with this placement and care.
I transferred my Mother to The Royal Cambridge from another home. The management helped in assessing her needs and letting me know what medical papers and medicines I would need. They arranged the appropriate transport which they provided with a driver and 2 other staff when arrived and went above and beyond for my mother's care and well-being. She has a brand new room in the new building. I so recommend it!
This care home is just amazing! My mum was a resident in this home since November 2017 so over 5 years, and throughout Covid as well. Sadly she passed away in June but the care she received here was truly outstanding and I will always be grateful to the entire team. Everyone who works at this home has been excellent and incredibly kind and caring and also very supportive toward me as well. The management team are excellent, the manager who leads the full team is fantastic and a really lovely person - so helpful, as is all his team. The carers themselves are also genuine people and some of them have been working at the home for many years - which I think shows how good the place is. It's not just the carers and management but also the cleaners, the people who do the laundry, and the hairdresser who comes in regularly - they are all lovely and took time out to say hello to Mum and get to know her. I highly recommend this amazing place -I felt Mum was well looked after and safe and she was happy.
My 95-year-old mother, (who has various health issues) has lived at the home for 5+ years and has thrived under the diligent and kind care she has received at the home. The Royal Cambridge Home produces a newsy and entertaining monthly Resident’s Newsletter, so everyone is kept well informed. Everyday activities are organised for residents, (and occasionally outings), if residents wish to participate. The Home is undergoing major building works, but the residents continue to receive excellent care. My Mum is very happy and so is her family.
The care home is underdoing very major works right now - so the facilities are somewhat comprised - but the care of staff and the attention to detail in terms of treating my mother with compassion and dignity is excellent. My mother is very happy - and I know 100% that she is at all times well cared for and well fed. She also taken on adventures (to for example the seaside) and has her nails painted and hair done. Everyone is so very caring and kind to her - and the place is run wonderfully with excellent management. My mother has made friends and I feel very blessed to know such wonderful people are around her.
Royal Cambridge Home has been and continues to be a comfortable and very friendly place for my neighbour who now resides at the home. Fortunately for her, she remains mentally very vigorous and alert and in reasonable health even though she is now at a very good age. This means she has high expectations of having a very good quality of life at Royal Cambridge Home. So far, this has been her experience. From my point of view, the working relationship I have with all the staff I come into contact with means that it is very straightforward to support my neighbour with her financial, medical and other needs. During the pandemic and through it and now through the current building programme, the communications from the staff have been very helpful so that I and this lady's friends can be there for her, which is very important for her as her family all live overseas, and she looks forward to our regular visits. I recommend Royal Cambridge Home to anyone looking for a caring and supportive environment for a loved one.
My mother made the decision to move into the Royal Cambridge Home after spending 2 weeks respite care there. She missed the company when she had gone back home. I am confident that she is being well looked after. Whenever she has had a health problem, I have been informed immediately and updated throughout. Staff are very friendly and welcoming.
We moved my mum from another care home back in June this year having experienced a few problems with them. What a difference – all staff at the Royal Cambridge Home are friendly and professional, so dedicated with residents’ well-being. The entertainment team are very good, plenty of activities to stimulate residents plus they regularly go out on short trips and recently a day trip to the coast. The summer garden party was fun, nice to see staff and residents enjoying themselves. We feel much happier knowing that she is so well looked after.
Mum and Dad have been at the Royal Cambridge Home now for three years. The care they have received has been excellent despite trying times throughout Covid. I particularly like the fact that the activity program is varied and that they get to go on outings! Recently, we had a garden party and BBQ, which was great fun.
Mum has been at The Royal Cambridge Home for six years now, and we are so happy with her care. Mum suffers from dementia and is hard of hearing, so it would be easy for her to feel disoriented/isolated, but the staff ensure Mum feels that she 'belongs' there and that it is her 'home'. Since Mum has been at the home, we have seen her become much less anxious, and we can see that she is content and feels secure. The staff are always welcoming and friendly when we visit, professional in managing Mum's care and ensure that her family are involved in decision-making. The only reason there are not more stars for facilities/rooms is that the home is currently in the middle of a project that will see a brand new purpose-built home take the place of the current buildings, which (while truly characterful and fondly enjoyed) have been overtaken by present-day requirements. Nonetheless, the 'atmosphere' in the home is 5-star.
My partner has now been a resident at the home for two years now and is very happy there. I cannot thank the staff enough for the care they give to her; everyone is so friendly, professional and caring, and the range of activities is second to none. We have just attended the annual garden fete, which was marvellous and enjoyed by all. I could not wish for anything better for her. Thank you once again for the care you give to her; you are all so very special - thank you.
Went to a summer garden party at the home - a fabulous afternoon, but when I visit my mother, the staff are always extremely helpful and very kind to my mother. My mum is always doing trips out, and I can honestly say she is very lucky to be a resident at the home. Thank you so much.
From my first approach to the Royal Cambridge Home through to my aunt moving in directly from the hospital, the experience has been exemplary. The standard of care has been very high from the outset, and communication with families is also very good. My aunt feels safe, welcome and cared for in a vulnerable part of her life. Her family can also see that she is receiving an individual and tailored service with her changing care needs being met.
My mum has now been at the Royal Cambridge for just over a year and is doing so well. She has made some really good friends and is very happy there. The staff are extremely kind, caring and friendly and always very welcoming to visitors. There are a variety of activities for the residents which my mum thoroughly enjoys and various excursions in the minibus. The garden area is lovely and a great place to relax in on summer visits. The food is also very good. It was a very hard decision to place mum into a care home and I'm so pleased we chose Royal Cambridge as it has been so good for her. Thanks to all the wonderful staff.
We moved my mother down from a care home in Norfolk to the Royal Cambridge in the spring. We were extremely concerned as she had been well looked after there. However I am delighted to say it has been a huge success and she has taken on a new lease of life here. The building itself is 'tired' and due to be redeveloped and she will be moved over to a new building once it has been completed. However, there is a great atmosphere in the home and the head of the care team is superb. The entertainment team is very good. They try to stimulate residents and create as much fun between them as possible. Visiting is relaxed and visitors are made most welcome.
My husband is in this wonderful care home for respite but decided full-time care is what he needs. Sadly due to future renovation work, they are unable to commit to a permanent stay. Royal Cambridge Home is like an elderly grand old lady requiring some TLC but this is made up by the caring and attentive staff on every level. To find another care home with the same kindness is going to be difficult to find.
It is a real home for me and my family. From the managers to the carers, they are all so welcoming and loving. They make you feel like that you are part of the big family. Also, they are very professional and helpful. They try their best to sort the problems out as soon as possible. We have been to different respites before. Cambridge care home is the best. We don't know how to express our appreciation.
After 11 weeks in hospital with Covid, my father (who had dementia but had been living at home) was discharged by NHS to Royal Cambridge for interim care pending permanent nursing care. After such trauma, our family were so grateful for the loving care the Royal Cambridge staff gave to my father and their contact with us during continued Covid visitor restrictions. On being allowed to visit, we were impressed by their facilities, do not judge a book by its cover, despite being a 'tired looking' building...its the staff that make a loving home.
