View Full Details of Elstree View Care Home - Avery CollectionDad's Care Home was originally known as 'Sunrise' it was taken over by 'Signature' and latterly it's run by 'Avery'. The home has recently had a complete makeover in all communal areas and bedrooms; it looks really luxurious. The Home is on two floors and guests with dementia, needing more intensive care, live on the second floor. The Care Home has always been very welcoming and attentive. Especially the home's Manager and her staff, who have all been wonderful to my father, throughout his stay. The medical support has been excellent and communication is very good, too. Picturesque setting at Elstree View and adequate parking. We are very happy and we thoroughly recommend this Home. I do have concerns that some key staff have left and this could have been avoided. Overall, Elstree View are doing a great job, thank you.
My parents moved into the home 12 years ago, when they were still active and mobile. They enjoyed their independence while at the same time feeling safe in a protected environment. As they became less able to fend for themselves, they relied more on the care and services offered to them, especially as illnesses began to surface. I have always found the staff friendly and caring and always there to help. Now that my mother is on her own, she still feels secure, receiving all the care that she needs. I feel happy that she is being well looked after and I can visit her at any time.
My mum started her time at Elstree View in Assisted Living and has now been in Orchids for a year. Her care is wonderful. The staff are kind and caring and my mum is very content and happy. They seem to know what she needs and when and you can see by and way mum responds to the carers she trusts and loves them. When she can, she joins in with activities but she is happiest in her room being cared for. Thank you to all the staff in Orchids and to all the staff who help and support her.
The staff are always on hand and very attentive to my father and stepmother's needs. Nothing appears to be too much trouble, and the staff are always responsive to questions raised. The quality of the food is satisfactory but the service could improve slightly by serving hot food. Overall, very happy with the service provided.
Overall, the staff look after my mother better than I or my family could and even though she can be very cantankerous they genuinely seem to like her and treat her with compassion and understanding, plus they have worked out her needs, even though she has limited communication ability.
My relative has moved into Elstree View Care home in early March when she was discharged from a recent admission to hospital. The whole process has been brilliant. All the staff that I have met so far are friendly, helpful and welcoming. The admission process was done so efficiently - from viewing the Home to admission was less than a week. Her care has been exemplary. The food is plentiful and tasty with good choice. The building, communal areas and individual rooms are beautiful - freshly decorated with continuing decorating happening in some areas. The entertainment is varied and staff help her to become involved in activities, if she wishes. The clinical and medical care is regular and far easier to access than when she was at home. We feel she is much better looked after 24/7 and much safer in the Home than with a carer in her own home.
My sister has been a resident at this care facility for many years. She is now going through a particularly difficult phase of her life. I find that the standard of care is exceptionally good. The staff treat her with compassion and empathy. I am regularly updated.
My dad moved into Elstre View Care Home in October. The staff have all come out of their way to help him settle in and he is now an active member of the community. He has lived more in the last 3 months than he has in the last three years. He is very comfortable, happy and safe and I can visit him as his daughter and share in his happiness.
It is a real pleasure and greatly reassuring to see my father-in-law cared for as an individual with respect and dignity in such nice surroundings and with kind and attentive and capable staff.
A wonderful refurbishment, just like a 5 star hotel.
Overall a good experience. The fact that a major refurbishment was taking place meant a lot of banging at times. Joined in and enjoyed almost all activities. Standard of room cleaning and bed making poor. The staff very good at remembering and using my name.
Here for a short respite stay. Found the staff all very helpful and kind. No issue too much.
Elstree View, in the 4 or so months since my cousin has been a resident there, has made her feel totally at home. I visit her at least once or twice a week, and can clearly see how relaxed, cared for and happy she is. A big thank you to the staff, carers and all involved. I cannot find one negative thing to say. She has lost all the anxious feelings she had in her flat, she is eating and sleeping better.
The care provided for my dad on the Orchard floor is excellent, he is always treated with good humour and kindness, and well looked after. Regular reports from the staff are comprehensive and informative, and his needs are well met.
The care provided here for mum is exceptional. She is treated with respect, dignity and kindness and as she is so vulnerable this is truly a gift. All the staff do everything they can to make her experience a good one and the integrity, comradery and humour is palpable here. It is not just a home for mum it is her home. Thank you so much.
We really notice how each resident not just my mum is treated individually specifically with so much care and patience, kindness and lovingly. Despite all the difficult circumstances the staff find themselves dealing with it is always done well, brilliantly actually. Food is always great mum always clean, always something going on for her. We couldn't be any more reassured in her being in the best place she could be. Thank you with all my heart.
Although I've put 'May 2023', my review relates to my friend's stay for the last year or so of his life. He was cared for really well and would never have had such a dignified end of life without the care and support of the home and all the staff.
My 96-year-old uncle finally agreed to move to a care home after several years of doggedly trying to retain his independence. We, his family and his friends were concerned about his ability to continue living independently. We were glad when all other options were rejected in favour of moving to a care home. We arranged a visit to Elstree View and were very happy to find that members of staff remembered him from a previous stay to convalesce following surgery and made him very welcome. Further discussion achieved agreement and he now resides happily at Elstree View in a very nice flat where he has integrated into the community. It is evident that he is receiving excellent care and is fed regularly and well. He is gently and respectfully treated and his health is monitored and I receive regular reports. It is a pleasure to deal with the staff and our concerns about his living standards and safeguarding have been addressed.
My mother has been a resident at Elstree Avery Care Home since December 2022. During this time she has enjoyed being part of the Avery family. The staff here are so caring and look after each and every resident. There is always plenty to occupy the residents through the day, ie daily quizzes, entertainers, and playing Scrabble or other table games. The food provided in the lovely dining room at breakfast, lunch and dinner is of a high quality. My mother enjoys sitting in The Bistro, having morning coffee and afternoon tea when she chats with the other residents. Every month there are at least four outings to interesting places and some are cinema or theatre trips. Mum has really enjoyed these outings. Thank you all at Elstree for your kindness.
I have found the staff caring and attentive to my mother. I found that when she first moved into Elstree View, the staff were well acquainted with her needs. Carried out a pre-assessment view when she was in the hospital and complied with her dietary requirements.
