View Full Details of The DevonshireMy mother is well looked after in Cherry Blossom community, the staff are very good with her. She has greatly improved since being in the care home. Well done staff on your CQC overall good achievement.
Very good, nurses very good. Food is fine. Very happy - no complaints.
My husband looks physically well and cared for and, despite his increasing mental health issues, shows no sign of distress. The staff on Kingfisher Unit have consistently been welcoming and receptive to any concerns or queries I have had. The food always looks apetising and seems varied. I have had no complaints about how my husband has been cared for.
I regularly visit my father at different times of the day, the staff are outstanding, they are caring, compassionate and respectful. My father was given a few weeks to live however it's one and half years since the prognosis due to the fantastic care which he is receiving. The staff and the leadership of the home says it all - excellent. Congratulations on receiving overall Good to your recent CQC rating.
Absolutely wonderful people, took good care of my father in law during the last year of his life. Kind, supportive, friendly staff. Father in law made some good friends.
Generally I have been satisfied with the level of care, bearing in mind the challenges of the dementia ward. There have been 3 or 4 times when I have not been happy. I have addressed it immediately. The room needing partial decoration does not help with perception. Plus what appears is rare deep cleans. Staff are mainly friendly and helpful. But management are hard to find. Food seems average with lack of flexibility to individual needs.
Our family has nothing but praise for the staff at The Devonshire, on Kingfisher Ward. Dad has been looked after like he was their own father. We will always remember their constant kindness not just to Dad but to ourselves.
My Dad was resident of Peacock Community at The Devonshire from October 24 to March 25. He had advanced Dementia. The care, support and overall experience was excellent. He settled into life quickly in Peacock, making friends with the other residents, aided by the wonderful nurses and staff. The food was great, the room and community always sparking clean, and the professional and emotional support provided to my Dad was brilliant. We were always made to feel welcome when we visited by all the staff who were always professional and personable. it was evident on my many visits that my Dad and other residents enjoyed life at Peacock, the care provided and dignity he received in his final days were brilliant.
Care is excellent, staff are very good to my wife.
I visited my Brother for a few hours on the 29th of December 2024. This was my first visit. Due to building works it was a little bit unclear how to access the building. Apart from the building works I was very impressed with all aspects of the care provided. One of the senior nurses had related my Brother to a quieter room which was greatly appreciated. There was also lots of positive interaction between the staff and my brother. Generally, the staff was very helpful. Overall there was a very positive atmosphere in the home and a clear sense that residents were well looked after.
Lately, staff shortages are acutely observed. This leads to inadequate care and support for the resident. Existing staff try their best but this may not be sufficient at all times. The care home is currently going through a major refurbishment but the staff quarters aren't included in this. By staff I mean the people who actually provide the service and look after the residents.
I would like to express my appreciation and gratitude for this lovely home. My husband spent his last six months there, he was happy and well looked after. From personal care to the meals and activities everything was of the highest standards. Their units are well designed for mobile residents who can walk along the corridors, stretch their legs, communicate with other residents, and feel free, and feel like they are in their own homes. The friendly staff goes the extra mile to provide a very high professional care and person centred approach to all their residents. I have been visiting this home every day at different times and have seen the residents clean, happy, and entertained. From our previous experiences at the other care homes in Reading (as short stays) the River View is the best home because they really do understand the needs of people with dementia. All this makes this home safe and comfortable. A very special thanks to the Kingfisher unit staff for looking after our loved ones.
The staff are always friendly and look after my partner (room 51). He seems ok, although he does have his ups and downs when I visit with memory. He seems to be eating ok.
My husband has been an unwell resident since October 2021. During his stay, I have never felt recourse to complain about his treatment.
We have found the staff are very caring and looking after my sister-in-law well. She seems happy.
Very caring attentive staff. My sister is happy here.
My wife has been a resident in River View Care Centre for two years now. The care that she has received from all the staff has been wonderful and often exceeds my expectations. I am aware that I have been a difficult family visitor on occasions but the staff have always treated me in a kind and professional manner.
My friend sadly passed away recently and the staff were excellent with him, treating him with the utmost dignity. I would recommend it.
All staff were professional, kind and tried their best with our father who had advanced dementia with challenging behaviour. We appreciate their efforts to care for him during the last two months. Thank you.
My grandadgy was well looked after in the care home. The staff supported him very well. He died a peaceful death in the presence of my mother, there was nothing the staff would not do for him within their capabilities. Staff were taking their time when supporting while eating and drinking. The staff were very patient, understanding and supportive. Thank you for a good job.
