View Full Details of The CedarsMy sister has been resident at The Cedars for nearly two years and, throughout that time, she has been treated with exceptional care and kindness. The staff are attentive, compassionate and responsive to all the residents' needs, and are all extremely competent and well trained. There is a range of well-planned activities and whilst the residents' needs are varied, they are all encouraged to play a part whether it is singing and dancing, exercise, games or an outing (my sister loves to sing and dance). The summer barbecue is well attended for good reason! The Cedars affords a clean, comfortable, safe environment for its residents and a warm, friendly atmosphere that residents and visitors can both enjoy. There is so much laughter! A special mention for the wonderful manager - she provides excellent communication and updates and leads her amazing team to provide the best care possible for the residents and peace of mind for their relatives.
My review relates to the whole year in which my wife has been a resident (since March 13/2024). I cannot praise too highly the attitude of the management and the approach of the care givers. The manager not only manages the home efficiently but has created all sort of activities far beyond the needs of basic care -- visits from exercise teachers, Bollywood dancers etc. Residents' birthdays are celebrated as communal activities. She encourages the staff to see their role as getting to know residents personally and engage with them in their memories and troubles. For their part the carers obviously not only care for residents but care about them. They are considerate of, and patient with, the occasionally sometimes quite difficult residents. I'm 77 and travel on public transport well over an hour each way three times a week to Cedars but I have no inclination to look for another home. Indeed I am so glad when I do leave not to have worry about the hands in which I leave my wife.
From the very first visit to Cedar Care Home, the whole team have always been friendly and professional. The Manager has always been efficient and answered my questions. Very happy my mum has been placed at Cedar, my mum is safe and well cared for. Thank you.
I have always found Cedars care home to be excellent carers for my ex-husband. He is very well looked after. Cedars has many activities and music shows, summer bbq's and singers. Residents birthdays are always celebrated. I have every confidence that he is being very well looked after. The carers are always cheerful and patient with the residents.
I can not say enough good things about Cedars Care Home. From the moment we first visited, we felt welcomed and at ease. The staff are not only professional and attentive but also incredibly compassionate. They truly go above and beyond to create a warm, caring environment for all the residents. The facilities are always clean and comfortable, with a wide range of activities that keep residents engaged and stimulated. It's clear that everyone here is dedicated to making sure residents feel respected, valued, and loved. Thank you to everyone at Cedars Care Home for giving our family peace of mind and providing such a wonderful place for our mother to call home. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a small family environment care home.
My husband has been a resident at The Cedars for the last year. He settled in well to the home and at all times when I visit I have been impressed with the kindness and caring nature of all the staff. I like the fact that it is a smaller care home than many others in the area. The food is all cooked fresh and always looks well-presented and tasty. The home has been completely redecorated in the past year and looks fresh and welcoming. The care manager has been helpful with form filling as well as arranging transport for a hospital appointment with an appropriate carer to accompany my husband.
This is a small care home, more like a house than a home. The carers are so good and kind. They watch the resident's every move, for safety. The meals are cooked on-site.
Mum has been a resident for nearly 7 years now, she has severe Dementia/Alzheimer's. The staff are excellent and are always finding new ways/activities to engage Mum. I always receive constant communication from the staff not only when visiting, but telephone calls as well. Whether it be something medical or just how she has been and what she has been enjoying. The atmosphere at The Cedars is always a fun one and very family-like. They never mind what time you may turn up to visit it is very much an open-door policy really can't praise the staff enough and thank them all for the way they look after Mum.
My father became a resident in December 2022. His health and well-being have dramatically improved since becoming a resident. All the staff are pleasant, fully attentive always on hand to help and go beyond their expected duties. The new manager is amazing, arranging events and regular catch-ups to keep updated on a one-to-one basis with the resident's family and loved ones. The barbecue (26th August ) was a great success enjoyed by all. Thank you all at The Cedars for all your hard work. It's great to know that my father is being cared for with such passion, leaving me with a lot less stress and worry.
My Dad was a Cedar resident on a temporary basis after his discharge from a prolonged stay in the hospital. The care he received on a daily basis was excellent. He arrived frail and bewildered and left Cedars strengthened and in good spirits. We are very grateful to the staff for everything they have done for Dad we couldn't have wished for better care.
We are impressed by the care, dedication and attention to detail provided for our cousin. Every effort was made to find acceptable food for him. Our cousin was a very difficult and unique individual, very deaf and with limited vision. He had no teeth having pulled his own out years ago! Cedars coped very well with this cocktail!
My mother is very happy at The Cedars. She regularly comments on how lucky she is to be there. She enjoys the food and I understand the staff do their best to ensure she is kept hydrated. I am always impressed by how helpful and patient the staff are. My mother’s life has improved greatly since moving to The Cedars.
My father suffers from Alzheimer's and was no longer able to live independently. I have found the staff to be very attentive and caring to him. His behaviour is challenging at times but the staff are patient and calm towards him and notify me as soon as any changes occur. I am very happy with The Cedars and always made welcome, when I visit and feel it is a good "family" home for Dad to live in.
Mum passed away recently after spending more than 5-years at The Cedars. She suffered from dementia and was no longer able to look after herself. Staff were always welcoming, friendly and dedicated to the care and well-being of the residents. I was able to visit at any time, and I cannot fault the care given to Mum. My first impression of The Cedars was that of a friendly ‘family’ home, the one we chose above all others in the area. I’m happy that Mum spent her final years there.
My mother suffered from Alzheimer's and her behaviour could be very challenging at times but the carers always managed to calm Mum down and attend to her needs in a very caring, professional manner. On my visits to see Mum, I was always made to feel welcome and the residents were often being entertained by visitors or doing craft sessions. If the carers had any concerns they would always contact me to keep me informed of Mum's welfare. My mother passed away in September after being a resident of The Cedars for two years. During that time, I was extremely happy with her care and welfare.
Generally a very good two weeks were spent by my mother in rehabilitation upon leaving hospital. Worth recommending.
My mother has been a resident for a number of years. As her health has changed, the care home has responded at all times, with new food or medication as called for. I have always been informed of any changes in her health and kept up to date with any treatment. The staff are friendly and happy to help with any problems.
The staff are always very friendly and look after the residents very well.
My Nan is looked after well, she's fed and cared for and safe. She's been here for years and with the help of the amazing staff, she's thrived even when her dementia has worsened. The staff are brilliant to the residents and relatives that visit, it's very welcoming.
It has been a great pleasure getting to know staff and residents at The Cedars since October 2018. Visiting every couple of weeks for a Christian (C of E) service of hymn singing, Bible reading, prayer and Holy Communion, I have always found residents to be clean, content and well cared for. I have observed many interactions between residents and staff that display great patience, as well as genuine care and affection, including occasionally in more challenging circumstances. My only regret is that I have not been able to get to know some staff better, as they have either changed shift patterns or moved on to pastures new. Communication with the home has always been swift and courteous, and there is a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere in the place. I continue to look forward to my visits! (I’m afraid I have no worthwhile experience of Rooms, Facilities, Food & Drink and Safety/Security, so please discount my ratings on these).
