View Full Details of Summer Lane Care & Nursing HomeMy mother has been in Summer Lane since August 24. She is well looked after, she is treated as an individual and all her care needs are facilitated with dignity and respect. I have no complaints at all. My mum is always happy and chatty clean and tidy. The cleanliness of the home is exceptional and it always smells nice. Her room is lovely and homely having brought her stuff in from home to make it her room. All the staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble for anyone. The reception staff are also very helpful and happy. I love visiting my mum and chatting to staff it's like our extended family. Summer Lane you shine. I will always recommend your home. And the fine dining experience was absolutely amazing, and would definitely recommend this if they have a special occasion and want to celebrate with a meal with family. I'm happy that my mum is happy and that's what matters. The transition from home to care home was such an impeccable move.
Mum was placed at the home initially for respite but is now a permanent resident. It was clear from the very start that she was going to be looked after and her care needs met. All the staff are friendly, caring and empathetic not only to Mum but to the family too. It's peace of mind to know that she is safe, clean and comfortable. The home provides an excellent environment with clean rooms, smart communal areas and excellent facilities. The care staff are fantastic - however, if some had better English that would help!
I can honestly say my mother is getting the best care from reception staff, manager, carers, nurses, laundry staff, cleaners and everyone else I might have left out at Summer Lane. Everyone is cheerful, always smiling and greets the visitors like one of the family. Mum is happy and well cared for and I know when I leave I do not have to worry. They phone and keep me up to date on her care so I never felt left in the dark. Summer Lane are just the best.
Lovely care home, brilliant friendly and helpful staff. Very clean and well maintained, couldn't ask for a better place for a loved one to be. Many thanks.
My brother has lived here for nearly a year now and he is very happy. The staff and care provided have been top quality. He has settled in well because of the support he has been given to adjust to his new environment. The food/choice is very good and high quality with plenty of choice. I can relax knowing my brother is in a safe, happy, clean environment surrounded by wonderful people.
Overall very good.
I honestly couldn't wish for my grandmother to be in a better home, the facilities are amazing and they provide everything and more. The staff are all very friendly, accommodating and very professional. The home makes everyone feel welcome and they treat the residents with dignity and respect and the level of care is faultless. My grandmother is so happy and content and it's a pleasure to visit her there. The decor of the home is impeccable and the rooms are so comfortable. The cleanliness of the home is fantastic and the food is all freshly prepared and always looks delicious.
The home always smells clean - excellent staff on reception = excellent. Always cheerful and helpful. Cafe = a very nice feature. Most staff on duty here are chatty and helpful! The food is excellent. The care staff are very caring - however, if some had better English that would help! Many are really excellent at caring. Activities = not applicable for Mum, but I feel there could be more for many residents. This aspect feels light.
Whether it was the warm-hearted friendliness of the reception staff that greeted people visiting their loved ones, the kind and efficient care given to my father by the health care team, or the attention given to the cleanliness of the home itself. On the regular upkeep of the gardens situated at the centre of the home's buildings. Summer Lane provided my dad in the last year of his life with an environment that was safe, caring and comfortable. Here the patient mattered, my dad was not just another sick person- a number on the list. The Summer Lane team treated him as if he were their own and we will always be so thankful to them for that.
My husband has lived in this nursing home for 2 years and has always received the most excellent care. The nurses and carers treat him with the utmost respect and kindness. We as a family are always welcomed by all members of staff with a smile and a caring attitude.
Summer Lane is modern clean and fresh whilst still giving a welcoming feel. All staff whether management, admin, care or nursing have a welcoming smile and are ready to answer any questions or concerns. My mother is unfortunately bedbound but we always see residents relaxing or involved in activities, both inside and out with constant support by staff.
Mum has been here on the dementia floor for a little over a year now and is loving it. She is well cared for and comfortable. The staff are friendly and caring but sometimes communication can be an issue, especially when they phone my father, who is slightly deaf and struggles to understand accents on the phone. The home itself is so well thought out and the decor and furnishings are lovely. We especially like the cafe downstairs as it gives Mum the feeling she has been 'out'. It has also been a great place for my father to meet the families of other service users and share experiences and support each other.
Since my husband was taken into care I have seen wonderful care and patience given from the staff. They will always find the time to discuss any worries I may have or will tell who else could help. It took my husband a while to settle but through their understanding and patience, he has at last settled down. He loves to go into their love cafe and weather permitting likes to go into the garden. Thank you to everyone.
Mum was admitted to the nursing home during covid and remained there until she sadly passed away in May 2024. I can't thank the Summer Lane team enough for their excellent care. Every member of the staff jollied her along and had time to interact with her. Great care and dignity was taken at all times with her needs. The family were always kept informed of any changes/requirements. Each visit I made to the home was also a pleasure for me, as I was always greeted by all the staff and had friendly chats. Summer Lane is so beautifully decorated, fresh and clean, bright and sunny. The nursing facilities are second to none and the staff use them professionally. Mums' later years were made safe and secure, comfortable and fun. Thank you.
The standard of care provided, the general cleanliness and the high degree of finish are most welcome to visitors and relatives. I was very happy to see my mother-in-law provided with such a caring team and pleasant environment.
Wow, what a beautiful home, more like a 5 star hotel than a residential care home. My aunt originally went to Summer Lane for respite at the end of December 2022. Whilst she was there it was made apparent it was no longer safe for her to live at home with her husband due to the deterioration of her dementia. This was a difficult time for my uncle to see his wife go into a care home. Summer Lane staff gave reassurance, as they not only care for their residents, but also listen to the needs and well-being of the families too. Due to living in Kent I have only visited Summer Lane a couple of times February and September, each time I was greeted by friendly staff who made me welcome. I found my aunt content and happy. This home is clean, modern light and airy environment with exceptional staff who work very hard to make their clients feel safe calm and happy, as well as dealing with their personal needs, of which can be very different and challenging. I would definitely recommend this home.
2022 saw my wife admitted to Summer Lane Care Home. We experienced similar things to those of most families in a similar situation. I visited my wife every day, but acting on advice from my doctor and everyone else close to me, I now visit five times a week. My wife is safe, content and cared for by staff who are kind, compassionate and loving. They perform many acts of kindness to the residents every day, which makes them feel loved and wanted and they are always available to family members who have concerns about a loved one. The management team are always available to help with any issues that remain unresolved. Their motto is 'better to resolve problems as they occur than wait and let them fester'. I hope these words are helpful to others.
Summer Lane has to be the best nursing home. The purpose-built building is light and airy and the exterior is welcoming. All rooms are en-suite and a good size. The whole staff team are friendly and efficient. The furnishings in the lounges are five star hotel quality and the little gardens are a treat. The cosy cafe is a gem and a real bonus. Visiting times are not restricted. Due to staff shortages, activities are restricted, the present staff work very hard and do a great job, but could do with some help. Visitors are made very welcome.
Mum was admitted to the hospital from Summer Lane care home. Her dress and slippers were soaked in urine. Staff at the hospital said the slippers could be rung out, so wet. Pressure sores to bottom ungraded as so bad. The staff told the family mother was on antibiotics by the Doctor. Mar sheets were supplied from Summer Lane to A&E, no antibiotics were prescribed. Summer Lane said mother was found on the floor at 04.00. How long was my mother on the floor? We want answers! Mother's handbag missing, reported to the staff. Ten days later emailed the home, said report to a higher team and the blanket missing, but still no response. Summer Lane has not made any attempt to contact us to see how my mother is! Safeguarding reports are in place from the hospital.
As a family, we reviewer several homes in the area, as soon as we entered Summer Lane we knew it was the one for our uncle. He is very happy and thinks the food is superb and it's like living in a five star hotel! We have found all the staff very helpful and friendly. The home is immaculate and all patients/clients seem very happy and are always chatty.
