Both myself and our four sons agree that we are very satisfied with the care and treatment of my wife and their mothers. She is treated with dignity and understanding.
Happy.
This was the first time we had used Rastrick Hall and Grange Care Home but Dad settled in immediately! Dad has late Alzheimer's with complex needs although he is hyperactive, always on the go with significant sundowning. The staff were lovely and on collecting him it was obvious the working relationship and affection between them. He was kept engaged most of the day, and they took him out for walks and a trip to Brighouse. We were made aware that there is a relatively new manager and it appears to be a well-run care home. This new manager is lovely, efficient and a pleasure to deal with. The staff and other residents we met appeared to be happy, content and well cared for. I would have no hesitation in recommending and using Rastrick Hall and Grange for all his respite needs. In fact, we have just booked his next little holiday.
The care my dad received was very good. He was very confused and upset at times. The carers, and deputy manager, were very patient with him and did all they could to make him comfortable, particularly at the end of his life when he was receiving end-of-life care for a week. My mum was always made to feel welcome as she visited Dad every day during his four-month stay. The kindness shown to her was also extended to the rest of the family during what was a difficult time. I would like to thank the staff.
My husband was a resident for over 2 years when it was owned by another provider. He was very happy and contented for at least a year, then with the constant changing of managers the treatment and care went down significantly, and on several occasions, we found him in very unhappy situations which gave me and my family a lot of upsetting concerns. Just recently our concerns were confirmed when for no apparent reason he was sent to the hospital. From the information that we were able to gather this was a way of means to remove him as a resident from the home, this was confirmed when the home refused to have him back. That caused a dilemma of having to find another home. This has now been achieved and he's now at another home. We as a family are delighted that he is out of the Grange. The carers were great but even they're not that happy with the conditions that are evident with the running of the home.
My dad moved into Rastrick Hall and Grange in August 2023. The care he received was very good - the staff were very caring and kind. He was well looked after, and the food was of a good standard. Dad went into end-of-life care at the end of November and has now unfortunately passed away. However, the care and kindness he and all his family received in his final days from all the staff was way above our expectations and above and beyond what they needed to do to fulfil the requirement of "doing their job". For this, we give them our heartfelt thanks and best wishes.
My aunt and cousin have both received excellent care since they went to live there earlier this year. The staff are all caring and kind and often go over and above what would be expected, keeping us informed of any issues and really looking after them both. The ethos of the home is one of kindness and compassion. Many thanks.
My Dad was a resident at Rastrick Hall and Grange from 2021 to September 2023. We decided to move my Dad to another care home after we had increasing concerns about his health and safety. I realised my Dad was losing weight and found out he had dropped from 72kg to 54kg over 5 months but it was not due to health reasons or a lack of appetite. They missed that my Dad had COVID pneumonia and dehydration which resulted in my Dad spending over a week in hospital. They found he had developed a pressure sore on admission to hospital. My Dad fell out of bed twice at the home. I was told they would order a falls bed. This never arrived. Neither did the care chair, bed extender and special cutlery promised. The final straw was arriving unannounced to find him in a urine-soaked bed. The home is now looking for its 3rd manager and has had 2 interim managers in my Dad's time there. There are some good staff there but not enough to be consistent in their care.
My family member has lived there for 2 years. During the first 18 months, the care and management were very good. Since a new manager took over just over 8 months ago, I just can’t put into words the reduction in care and cleanliness at Rastrick Hall and Grange. Let me say it should be renamed Rastrick Hall and mange after my family member developed a very itchy rash end of May 2023, after alerting management to my concerns my relative has now been in hospital for 6 weeks being treated for the worse case of scabies, he’s still receiving care for it now. Please think twice before letting a loved one live here. All the lovely staff have left. Not enough carers now. Avoid!
I find the staff all very friendly and Mum gets the support she needs, love that I can go in to support Mum with her care and can take her out to mine bringing her back when I want to have her at mine, she’s well looked after and staff are always helpful and obliging when need anything answered even going above and beyond and love that my mum's settled in making some friends too also lovely relaxed atmosphere whenever I call in.
Mum has been very well looked after here! From day one, when she was warmly welcomed - through to the tailored care she is receiving today, I am impressed. This care and attention has resulted in a better-than-expected improvement in her physical and mental health, which is a testament to the professionalism of the staff and management, thank you.
My mom had two weeks respite care here and the service was excellent. She loved every minute and was sad to be going home. She has dementia and I was worried that the move would unsettle her but the staff were amazing with her, she hasn't seemed that happy in years, in fact, the move back home has been more unsettling so we are considering a permanent move to Rastrick Hall. Mom enjoyed all the food and I was kept fully informed of any issues. Mom was started on some new dementia medication whilst she was a resident and the staff were brilliant at keeping a close eye on mom in case there were any side effects or issues. As a first experience of a care home, I was very impressed.
My friend has been in Rastrick Halls & Grange since August 2021 she is 102 soon and says "I'm very contented here", "I like the food", and "the carers are very kind". I find the staff to be helpful, friendly, patient and supportive while managing the complete changes in covid rules. The home is clean and well maintained. Visiting is private in her room and we are not rushed in any way. I feel welcomed when visiting and I am kept informed of any changes or incidents. I'm very happy with the care provided and it's good to see my friend settled and being managed well.
Overall good experience for my dad. There were some issues when he was first moved into the home regarding him wearing other residents' clothing which was totally unacceptable. Eventually, this was sorted out.
Everyone is always very helpful and the staff keep us well informed at all times. We are very happy with the care our relative receives.
Visiting my mother after lockdown, staff contacted me to arrange a time and date. On arrival, staff talked me through procedures and were very helpful (as they always have been). Mum has been in the home for more than five years and on every visit, staff have been brilliant.
I have not been able to go inside Rastrick Hall due to the situation I.E COVID, but I have to say all the staff I have met have been very helpful, my mum has been and is being looked after very well. I have no complaints to date.
The staff are always cheerful and helpful when I ring them. Reassurance has been essential during this difficult time. The process of being able to meet with residents was done brilliantly. Keep up the good work. Can't praise or thank you enough.
I have always been very pleased with the care and support that my sister has received whilst living at Rastrick Grange, the staff are kind and professional and I can't thank them enough for all they have done through these difficult times.
