View Full Details of Acorn Court Care HomeI am very grateful for the wonderful care provided by all the staff at Acorn Court Care Home. Also, every member of the team is welcoming and cheerful, creating a very pleasant atmosphere. I noticed right from the start, the trouble and time staff took to attend to the individual needs of residents, e.g. in the choices available at meal times. It is difficult to find activities which interest my husband (and it is also difficult for him being the only male resident on the ground floor Dementia wing) but I am grateful for the efforts made to engage him. Also, I am aware of and thankful for the members of staff who have long conversations with him (often going around the same loop multiple times). I am sorry that I cannot visit frequently at present (due to long-term illness), so I'm grateful my husband is being so well looked after. Thank you so much.
I am writing to express my sincere thanks for the professional way in which the staff of Acorn Court addressed the needs of my friend who spent her last few days in your care. I was so impressed by the compassion exhibited by every member of your team when addressing the needs of her. The respect and understanding witnessed each day through the care and tenderness shown was so appreciated by her daughters and friends alike, who sat with her throughout the week at such a traumatic time. The sympathetic and caring approach of all staff was exemplary, reflecting the total professionalism of the team as a whole. One cannot single out one individual as they all approached their duties in a friendly caring manner which was appreciated by all. The facilities were kept to a very high standard with the rooms sympathetically furnished and kept clean and tidy. Of particular interest was the security of the floors, all protected by coded doors which ensured the safety of clients. Whilst my friend was unable to partake, it was very evident when talking to other clients how much they enjoyed their meals and appreciated the varied menu. In conclusion, whilst the week proved to be very distressing for all, through your team's positive, friendly and flexible approach you created a supportive atmosphere which was so welcomed. I have no hesitation in recommending Acorn Court and close by thanking each and every member of the team that supported both my friend and her family and friends at this distressing time. Thank you.
The care team are very good and I have every confidence in them. They are always welcoming and I know that my husband is, for the most part, settled and comfortable. I have two criticisms, one minor, the second more serious. The minor one relates to the fact that I'm usually offered a drink when I visit; tea or coffee which is often accompanied with cake or biscuits which is very pleasant. Unfortunately on a number of occasions the cake has been stale, which is disappointing and one hopes that this is not the usual quality of the food that is given to the residents. My second criticism relates to the Christmas decorations both last year and this year. Not only do I think that they are over the top, it concerns me that the cost of these decorations must be pretty high and as I, like others, am paying large sums of money for my husband's care, this does not seem right. I would like to know what percentage of the fees we pay go towards such unimportant items.
On my first visit to Acorn Court in 2017 I was blown away. There was such a sense of transparency and community. I was told about staff training, and how the team understood dementia and the behaviours that came with it. I was so relieved when our dad was offered a place. They now look after my mother with the same compassion, warmth, and dedication. The staff are truly wonderful-attentive, understanding, and great communicators. They provide not just top-quality care but genuine kindness and fun, which makes such a difference to the residents and their families. They make you feel welcome, respected and supported every step of the way. The care at Acorn Court is truly person-centred. Every detail, from the exceptional food to the varied activities offered each day, is thoughtfully designed to ensure everyone can find something enjoyable and engaging. The regular trips into the community are a highlight for the residents and give them a wonderful connection to the outside world.
Mum was moved to Acorn Court a year ago after a stay in hospital after becoming very unwell. She was unable to manage at home anymore and had become very lonely. She has settled well considering she is bed-bound. She speaks very highly of the staff. She feels she is very well cared for and everybody is really kind. I am also happy with the care she receives and find the staff very helpful and willing to accommodate. Sometimes Mum isn't keen on the food but is too polite to say as she worries about offending the staff. She doesn't like red meat and although I have told the staff she often still gets given it. Other than that I have no complaints. It's good to see the staff wearing their name badges.
My mother moved into Acorn Court in October and the process was made very easy as the staff made her and us feel very welcome. Her room is lovely and very homely. Although she is taking time to adjust the staff are very patient and am sure she will settle in well. She has already used the hairdressing facilities, as she has always had her hair done regularly, and already booked future appointments. Mum finds it difficult to join in the activities but we did attend a lovely Remembrance show with a very talented singer which she enjoyed. Now looking forward to the Christmas Extravaganza.
I have always found the care team polite, informative, kind and caring. My mother has been well cared for, this is a tremendous comfort to me and my family especially as she is receiving end-of-life care.
The care my mother receives at Acorn Court is superb. To see her smiling and enjoying all the activities, whilst being cared for by professional, kind staff is so reassuring. She is always given the option to spend time with other residents or have a quiet time on her own, always treated with respect and given choices. She enjoys such varied outings to garden centres, and museums and is entertained frequently by the many visiting performers. Thank you Acorn Court.
We are very happy with the care provided by the care home for Mum. The staff are so attentive and can’t do enough for her and the other residents. Mum says how lovely they are to her and likes having a laugh and joke with them. She is particularly fond of one member of staff in particular who is a lovely lady and so kind to Mum. Mum doesn’t always join in the activities and can isolate herself sometimes which is a shame as the entertainment team do provide a lot of different activities and events. A particular member of staff and some of the other staff do encourage Mum to join in which we are grateful for and we are glad to see she has been going on some of the trips lately and even been joining in with the fitness classes.
My aunt received wonderful care and nursing for the 3 years she was at Acorn Court. The staff are so patient and understanding. Very friendly and helpful. A very clean and fresh care home. Always some activity going on inside and outdoors (weather permitting). My mother was also at Acorn Court so when my aunt had to go into a care home I didn't consider anywhere else for her.
Acorn Court really excels at caring for my mum and my family as well. Mum is always very well looked after and monitored. I cannot fault Acorn Court at all. In December especially they made the home feel so festive and welcoming for all.
My mother has been at Acorn Court for over 3 years. The care provided has been excellent. My mother`s needs have been attended to with professionalism and compassion. The staff engage and show interest and make the home a great place to be a resident and visitor. We really appreciate the work of the staff and it is reassuring to know that my mother is safe and well cared for.
Both my parents have been residents at Acorn Court since June 2023 & have been well looked after. Unfortunately, my mother passed away just before Xmas and all the care home staff have been fantastic with how they have looked after Mum in her time with them & the compassion shown to my father & the family.
My mother has been at Acorn Court Care Home for five years this coming October, she spent a few weeks there after being in hospital. When it came time for her to go home she decided it was where she wanted to stay! Mum is shown care, respect and love from her ‘Acorn Court family’. The staff are very friendly and welcoming to visitors, it is a lovely environment to come into.
Two years on, I continue to be pleased with the standard of care my relative receives. The management is always available to answer queries regarding care and implement any changes necessary. Staff are kind and welcoming to visitors.
Carers and nurses good although I noticed his hair was not washed very often. Wheelchair stored in ensuite so I suspect shower not used. Complex meds are managed well most of the time. Managers remote and not always supportive. My husband was admitted from hospital as an emergency respite resident following an accident to myself. Feeling was it was just a holding operation with no input from professionals like OTs and Physios. No attempts were made to maintain some mobility as outlined in hospital discharge plan. I noticed a change in attitude from managers once I informed them we would soon cease to be able to self-fund. On attending a meeting with managers about this I felt they were not fully engaging with me but keen to get to the next meeting. In fact, it felt as if they had either double-booked or forgotten I was coming. On a positive note, all staff were welcoming and hospitable when I visited and the home was always clean and bright.
The staff care about their residents and they try hard to keep them engaged and active. The care given on the day of my mother’s passing was exemplary and a great comfort to us as a family. A huge thank you to everyone.
The staff are very friendly and caring. The premises are modern and kept very clean and tidy. I have recommended Acorn Court to many friends and will continue to do so.
I am really grateful for the excellent care and kindness that Acorn Court gave my father in the last weeks of his life. He found it difficult to hear or speak but the staff tried very hard to overcome these barriers and make him as comfortable as possible. They were also a great support to me and my brother at this very difficult time. Every member of staff greeted us warmly on every visit and made us feel at home. Communication and quality of nursing care was excellent, we had very thorough updates on how my father had been since the previous day and we felt very involved in every decision. The consistently high performance of all the staff made it apparent that the home was very well managed.
My husband, was a resident in Acorn Court for the last twelve days of his life receiving palliative care. The care and love shown by the staff to my husband and his family was exemplary and we take comfort with that memory.
